Session Review: Monday, September 14
Today we cranked it up successfully. I would have actually been happy to play more than this as I, bar a brief almost-tilting glitch in the midst of my session, was playing very well. It was getting close to bedtime, though, so I decided to call it a night.
I made a few mistakes here and there, mostly getting myself in awkward situations thanks to poor preflop decisions. Thankfully, these happen less and less nowadays - they used to be a real problem for me. I spent most of 2012-14 playing stupid LAG because my experience in poker made me SO much better than NL10 regs that I could play 40/32 and still make a profit ldo. My losses were obviously variance.
Now I play a sensible style (28/23, which is still on the loose side but not mad) but I still find myself justifying some preflop calls versus 3bets in position. "This is probably a fold but I have position and a skill edge, so..." Yeah, that might be true, but my skill edge increases when I know that folding there is optimal. If someone is only 3betting 4% then I'm exploiting them by folding, not by calling because "something something position implied odds".
Anyway, I'm pretty happy with my play overall and the 1,000 hands felt very un-grindy. This is good. I'm currently feeling confident about my volume goal this week for the first time, like, ever. I'm not planning to play live poker for another six weeks or so (barring a potential donk-around with colleagues in a small tourney) so I'd like to have another 30,000 hands of NL20 Speed under my belt before then. At least. Vam-fkn-os as the great pleno1 is wont to say.

Not a lot to say about this one, kind of a cooler for him. He obv could have not mad-shoved turn but meh. I won't complain.

Probably shouldn't get myself in situations where I'm attempting to get NL20 players to fold overpairs. I'm not sure what he had here because I can't imagine TT/88/77 doesn't 3-bet flop. Perhaps 87s? I am willing to concede that my line is spewy.
