Postlop spewing in light-3B pots - Tips?

The hand below is an embarrassing example of how sometimes I spew money postflop playing my loose range overly aggressively in all the wrong spots. That would be my most costly leak I'd say. I thought I might benefit if I ask around here for any tips on how to remember not to spew postflop with a loose range. Most especially in 3B pots. I kinda feel compelled to make a stab and then for some reason proceed to thinking that if the opponent didn't give up he's just overbluffing me. Yeah, I know, shocked myself. :f_ugly:

SB: $5.00 - VPIP: 33, PFR: 22, 3B: 0, AF: 0.0, Hands: 18
Hero (BB): $5.28 - VPIP: 29, PFR: 24, 3B: 9, AF: 2.7, Hands: 3037 - My stats so you can see what I refer to as loose.
UTG: $5.00 - VPIP: 23, PFR: 14, 3B: 0, AF: 0.8, Hands: 22
CO: $10.37 - VPIP: 43, PFR: 32, 3B: 27, AF: 2.0, Hands: 28
BTN: $8.13 - VPIP:26, PFR:20, 3B:10, Agg%:56, BURFI: 41, F3B:0(3), Hands: 117 - The villain does have AF:20.0, whatever the hell that means, I don't use AF. Agg%:56 looks sane enough, even if on the high end.

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero is BB with 5♣ 4♣
2 folds, BTN raises to $0.15, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.50, BTN calls $0.35

Flop: ($1.02) 3♦ J♦ 3♠ (2 players)
Hero bets $0.50, BTN raises to $1.35, Hero calls $0.85

I was thinking, "What the hell is he raising me here with? No QQ+ in his range. Did he flop a full house with JJ? Seriously?! And raises with it too?! Because AJ doesn't raise here." So I got pissed and decided to ignore the information about my own hole cards and went into the spewy mode.

Turn: ($3.72) A♠ (2 players)
Hero bets $1.78, BTN raises to $5.05, Hero folds and feels like a complete idiot

"Now he's definitely folding that goddamn QQ he called with preflop and raised flop, and if he calls I still have a gutshot! Or is he?" :f_mad:

So any tips? Also hope this post makes you feel better about your own game. :f_biggrin:

First I would like to start with this: Do not bluff at villain that does not fold much to 3 bet. You can do this vs villain that folds much to 3 bet or folds much to cbet.
Second, do not turn a plus EV bluff move into minus EV postflop bets and calls. You bluffed, he called-that's it. Whether you decide to cbet or not, but the action for you ends on the flop, unless you improve massively.
Third, always take time to think before you act. Take a deep breath, evaluate all stats and info and then click the button.

To keep things simple I strongly preffer folding it pre , BU looks like very aggresive player who rarely folds to 3 bets and playing 5♣:4♣: in 3 bet pot OOP vs AGGRO villain is since beginning bad idea. Against such villains it's better to wide up ur 3bet value range to medium Axo and all Axs , all broadways nad maybe T9s from suited connectors.

The 3bet range vs such villain should be depolarized or linear as sometimes they call it.

I agree with depolarized 3bet range , but I was absent in poker world for a while , what is linear range ?
Something like top folding range ?

top of folding range is polorized - depolorized is the top % percent of hands we consider we can bet for value vs villians open/calling range

Maybe 3 hands are not big enough sample, but since he doesn't fold to 3bets, I wouldn't bluff this hand. As played, I would rather check/fold the flop because we just have a weak backdoor straightdraw.

Hey guys,

Firstly, I presumed that he must fold to 3B, simply because he opens wide, and 3 instances is not really a sample size. :)

Secondly, we can't use a depolarized range BB vs BU, how do you even see it? I should be calling in this spot like 30% of hands and 3B like 9%. What I can do though is adjust the ratio of my 9% 3B more towards the value range, 3B some of the strongest hands I would call with, and do less bluffs.

Check/fold flop sounds good.

Fold to 3bet 0 from 3 is not a big sample but it say to me that we should reduce our bluff 3bet until we have bigger sample.

About range - I think we can use some mix like to be more linear but also have a calling range.

I think it's the same as to say 3B for value only, but do it a bit looser than you normally would.

In an unlikely case that the villain actually never folds to 3B I will simply 3B him with everything that crushes his opening range and stack off if we hit. Although I'm sure it's not the case, he doesn't look like a complete maniac (except in this hand).

You should look at his 4bet and call 3 bet stats before making such a decision. That will clear the picture with what ranges he stacks and with what he likes to call.
Very important is to try and see what is he showing at showdown and make a note.

Yes it´s basically my idea how to adjust before I will have bigger sample size.
