Turn: ($1.44 - 28.80 bb) J♣ (2 Players)

River: ($3.44 - 68.80 bb) K♣ (2 Players)
SB bets $2, Hero?

PF
Call 3.5bb raise from SB with KQo
Flop
I have a K high flush draw, and gutshot straight draw. Someone could already have the flush. I bet 2/3 after being checked to from SB.
Turn
Hit my straight! Bet 2/3, SB calls
River
This K doesn't do anything to improve my hand, and I sort of disregard it as i was excited about having the straight. Looking back, the only hands that SB would stay in with would be like made flush, Ad, I can't even really tell.
Anyway, SB bets into me for about 2/3 on river and I call.

Should I call here? Raise? Fold? Did I play the other streets properly? This whole hand made me confused basically.

I don't like donkig here. If we get a flush villain might hold Ad so we have to play that carefully. OTR villain could have a flush or higher straight. I think it is not likely that villain will lead OTR with weaker hand than ours when board is so wet. Fold is ok imo.

I think we should play this one passively.

Considering these positions, you played well on flop and turn. We have equity on flop and most of the time we are going to get this pot by betting. On turn we improve, so I don't see any reason to just check back.

However, the river is a tricky one. Making the best decision here is hard without any information (reads or stats) tbh. I think if we base our decision on common tendencies at NL5, we should be folding. This just screams a slowplayed flush here, as normal players are not donking here with some random air or Ace of diamonds.

So Fold IMO.

Call, beat AdKx.

If it was half pot then I'm calling, this looks too much like AdQx/AxQd. He can very rarely have some Adx for a bluff but if we include that then we have to add some stupidly slowplayed flushes too.
The rest of the hand is well played.

What about sizings otf/ott? i guess we could bet smaller here?

Sizings are fine, on the flop we have nice equity and it's ok to bet on the bigger side. Turn we basically have the nuts and big is good because people tend to overplay draws on lower limits so I expect him to call this sizing often enough.

It is bothering that you think on turn you have the nuts...
We should bet smaller.

Can you guys explain why we should bet smaller? Sorry if that's a newbie question, just been following the beginners strategy that tells me to bet 2/3.

Btw, Kriko92 called AdQx perfectly

When you bluff, bet enough to get the job done, but not much more.

I don't think we should bet the flop at all here, not least because of the negative implied odds when villain has A♦: (and we may face a raise). If we do bet, the sizing needs to match our value bets. I don't think we would bet half the pot OTF with an overpair, set or non-nut flush, so a half-pot sized bet is going to look suspicious. OTT we can bet smaller because we have K♦: so we're not too worried about protecting against a diamond river and if we bet smaller we get paid by some hands with worse diamonds which are dominated (and which will probably pay us again on a diamond river).

@Lathdari villain can also have some hands that are ahead of us right now, he has so many other combos that Ad or made flush or stuff. When we bet the flop, we can make him to fold better hand, make pot bigger in case we hit something good and we also see, if we are behind. I think it's more likely that he gives up here, and if not, we have the initiative to control the action on turn.

I understand the reasons for semi-bluffing with a draw, I just don't think this is a good spot because (a) the draw is much less strong than it looks because we will sometimes lose our stack when we complete, (b) on such a wet flop we can't expect many folds (especially if we use a small bet) and (c) we are 3w. In fact this hand perfectly illustrates the problem: we've built the pot and hit our straight, but that just means we lost more money.

But you know I'm actually calling this river... I think he often times has KQd, Q9... . I'd expect him to bet something like AdQx, and fold all other AQ. Doubt he plays made flush like this. So I would just call for a split, and to be quite honest I think we'd see a 2 pair here every now and then :f_biggrin:

About betting the flop, I partly agree with Lathdari, but honestly I think I'm betting, knowing that I give up my flush if any of them show too much aggressiveness when the 4th diamond shows up. Our straight will be good quite a few times, when we hit top pair, we dominate QJ, KJ, which might call flop, especially when they have diamonds.

In the case o a diamond turn, we will get value from lower flushes. We just have to make sure we're able to fold when they raise, because in that case they have the Ad

Am i the only one that sees PF as a 3bet??

As played i don't see a lot of EV difference between bet or check behind. Both plays are fine.
River with no info is a fold IMO. Lots of AQ with diamond hits the river even or slowplayed flushes also plays that way.

Why 3b pre? We have position with a good hand vs a guy that could have a bunch of dominated hands + a mid-stack fish that limped. KQ plays great in such a situation, but by 3betting we scare away all the hands that dominate us + run the risk of the fish deciding he wants to shove his 36bb.

I didn't see the low stack limper my bad. With the limper calling is better. In a blindwar i would definitely 3bet pre flop.
