I think the fold is good. His line is so strong here and there aren't any draws on the board, so yeah I agree this screams FH to me....maybe AK. From villain's point of view, you are strongly repping an Ace, so he's likely to have that beat.

I'd be so tempted to call because the value range is so narrow (does he really flat KK/AK pre) but his bluff range is pretty narrow as well. I doubt a NL5 reg, even one as solid-looking as him, is going to be sophisticated enough to try and get you off Ax here. It's a fantastic line from him with AT or something, though!

Why do you bet river?

I do not think we can seek 3 streets of value here. River bet is too much.

I think checking river is an option. We are mostly splitting here, so no need for value bet. On the contrary, he shouldn't have any bluffs in his range here, except if he had a backdoor flush-draw on turn. However, I doubt that most of the villains won't bluff-raise it on river.

So as played, fold.

River is a very bad situation. You can't value bet or check/call.

if we x the turn are we calling the river? we could maybe bet smaller otr like 1/3 od the pot?

We can xc river if face a normal size bet.

Why check/call?? There are no bluffs in villain range.
Would you call twice in a multiway pot and bet the river vs missed 3 barrel with hands like 88? In a vacuum that's a rare and tuff situation because either value bet ou check/call is kinda bad.
Imo the earlier streets made that situation for hero.
We could either check/call or bet smaller OTF and OTT.

I definitely bet flop as well... But how about a ch on the turn? That could be a decent line, and then bet river if he checks behind.
As played, I don't bet river, because we lost the kicker, so no reason to bet... and yeah, fold to his bet. I know his range is narrow, but when they have it, they have it. And sometimes, by villain's line, the only thing they can have is the full house. It's always tempting to call because of : "ohhh, come on, there are only 3 combos of 77, there's NO WAY he can have it" But there are situations that he will have it ALWAYS, and this might be one of the cases.

He could have AA or AK as well, I guess, but it's less likely.

definitely don't bet river. xc is decent against this guy, he seems the type to float a lot of garbage and there's not much he can bet for value
