Ha! Doesn't that feel a bit pity? I mean - to live in Germany and don't drink beer? I drink no alcohol at all and feel stupid all the time. Such a waste - same was when I was in Swiss/France and everyone around enjoyed the wine

If you feel stupid just because dont drink, then you have wrong friends

I wasn't talking about friends - it's just the fact that the best beer is in Germany and best wine is in France/Swiss, and I'm not into it.
Hehe, I am used to being looked at as "weird" no matter what country I am in. I eat more towards a paleo diet, so that means I almost don't eat any carbs except for veggies. So no pasta, bread, potatoes, rice... and absolutely no sugars, juices, sodas, nothing. Mostly just water, meat, vegetables, some berries (and occasionally fruit), natural fats and oils, nuts etc.
Most people feel sorry for me and don't understand why I eat this way. Or they think I am super weird.
My boyfriends (german) grandmom for example can't really grasp the whole not being allowed to eat cookies thing.
"Aaah but just a piece.... I don't understand why you can't just eat it". Tbh, sometimes I do feel sorry for myself as well, because the cravings for junk food can get really bad at times, but most of the time they're not even there. For me it's a lifestyle choice, I feel so much better eating this way that even though I would, ofc, as everyone else enjoy all the junkfood in the world if I could, but I just feel superior cutting it out. I try to see it in a way of eating to live, instead of living to eat. Which has pretty much become the motto nowadays. I do have moments where I feel bored with not being able to eat chocolate, bread, pasta, potatoes etc and say to myself "hey, how bad can it be... if everyone else can do it then so can I?" but it doesn't take many days until I feel so super crappy and tired and down and basically feel like a different person... no cookie in the world is worth enjoying life less.
no matter how many people think you are weird for not eating bread, drinking beer or eating cookies.
That's a great health choice! And a tough one to keep up. So congratz to that. Do you pair it with hitting the gym? It is the perfect food to add to exercise. I would only add some of the least unhealthy carbs if you do excessive cardio exercises.
I've just started to eat healthier food - not paleo, but cut down a lot of "bad" stuff. It was part of the challenge here but I didn't really mentioned it - just the workout part. So I know what are you saying - but after a while I guess you can get used to it and worry less. Well, I sure hope so!
hi vonki I do the same think since may2014 and feel so much batter I start doing it coz of candida(or some sort of variation of it), you are what you eat

Awesome, it's a start. Now you just gotta learn to disregard what other people think and try to please them, you do what makes YOU the best you and people who are worth keeping around will understand at some point

I'll mostly do weight lifting though, even though I know as a girl I can't really build huge muscles (don't want to anyway), def can tone the body and squats never have a bad effect either if you know what I mean

Awesome! I have been reading quite a bit about candida lately, I think I might have it too. It could be one explanation why I feel SOOOOOO much better this way. I am just happy that more and more people seem to wake up and realize how important what we put in our bodies is
I think it will make for a happier, healthier and more energetic people
Have a nice weekend everyone! xx![]()
...learn to disregard what other people think...
Trust me - that was never an issue

I kinda relate to what vonki says here. Not with sweets, because I am not a huge sweet eater, but with alcohol. A few years ago I completely quit drinking beer or any sorts of alcohol. OK, not 100%, but 97%. I drink a glass or two of beer with a friend of mine once a week and that's it. Almost no junk food (I eat a KFC menu about 3-4 times a year)... you get the drift. Now, every time I put that glass of beer in my body I get dizzy very fast and I got to dislike this feeling. As I told one to my students (I am a Uni teacher in Romania), when I got home after two beers I felt that my room was spinning around its three axis... and if those axis were fixed it would have been easier.
The funniest thing happened last summer, when me and my father bought my mother a new PC, because the old one's main board broke. While we were shopping, mom cooked us a nice, tasty lunch and bought me a bottle of Sangria. Not much, only 330 ml. After I drank it, I went into my room, to install the operating system and some other software. But, instead of doing this, my head felt so blurry so as I simply sat at my desk, on the chair, looking at the assembled, but turned off, PC and wondering: Now, what was I supposed to do with this thing? for a minute or so
Yeah, I feel much better like this. I feel excellent after I finish cycling or skating, although after I get off the ice rink I can barely walk. What is interesting is that vonki is a girl and enjoys poker. It is interesting because here, in Romania, the large majority of the people is risk-averse and see the guys that walk into the casino either as degenerate gamblers, with psychological problems, super-rich guys who afford to throw away money (another way of saying out of their leagues), or shady chaps who made *ahem* stole a lot of money and now they're doing what they know best: gambling. Not to mention that the girls here are, as well, risk-averse, especially when they think (or feel, I am not sure here) about settling down. So, vonki, do you happen to have any girl friend that also enjoys poker? I don't mind if she's Swedish or German, because she can always learn Romanian. And I am nice, I am handsome, I am cool, I am cute, etc. etc. ♠_cool:

Or maybe you could learn Swedish or German? ![]()
Just to add my voice too to the love for vonki and her lifestyle
- I've not had any alcohol for over 10 years now, I try to avoid processed foods - I've substantially upped my protein intake, though not cut out carbs completely (mainly eating wholewheat pasta and brown rice - I dont eat bread any more), don't consume caffeine any more and am just trying generally to live healthier.
I don't think you're weird - I think the weird ones are those who choose to poison their bodies and then wonder why they dont feel great!

Heeey! I am the teacher here, mister!
Beside my poker goals for 2016, which will appear soon on my blog, I want to also adjust my eating patterns (I didn't figure out yet what I want from this) and, combined with this, more and more physical activity. These things will also have a positife effect on me at the tables.
Hahahah, you guys are so funny ![]()
Yeah I almost don't drink any alcohol either... I drink enough to get drunk maybe once a year on average. And then a glass of champagne whenever my mother-in-law see's it fit (like on new years eve or when Germany won the WC for example
)
Sadly don't think I have any female friends who play poker... I used to know some girls through the years (but not from RL), lately don't have any contact with any of them sadly
think most of them don't play anymore anyway. Sorry Zanardi
but I am usually quite risk averse too. I like security and safety and being in control... poker did change me a lot, and in many ways... I'd probably still say I am risk-averse but when it comes to poker there's still plenty of things you are in charge of. Like how hard you work, how much you play, what BRM (and thus safety) you use and so on.
It's a funny topic... men vs women in poker. I heard a lot of men saying they are viewed as degenerate gamblers by the avg person they tell about poker... I've always had the complete opposite reaction from people. They are a bit schocked, but then they are intriegd, and when I tell them a bit more about it (how luck and skill both come into play, how it's partly about math and other people making mistakes, how you can learn to read their patterns and handstrenght etc) I guess they realize I seem to know what I'm talking about and think it's super cool. I've always thought that it's because people have a different view on women vs men when it comes to risk averseness etc, that women are more "responsible". Or maybe people just don't have the heart to tell my to my face that I am a degenerate gambler

Now you're going too far - that's just showing off! (I presume you consider yourself an adopted German)

Hahaha, they're the one who had bought the champagne, not me! But yes, I do consider myself an adopted German.
Especially since Sweden didn't even manage to qualify themselves to the WC. At least they managed to get into the EC this time

Us, men, have to behave nicely with women, right? ♦

Sorry you feel that way, but I doubt I could please everyone contentwise even if I'd try. You're welcome to leave feedback on what would make it more interesting for you though, maybe there's something to be done about it
