Hey Guys,
In this hand I played vs. an unknown player. His preflop 3bet-sizing and the fact he just played one table at that time led me to believe he's a fish.

His preflop-3betting-range can be anything: From premium holdings to suited connectors or pocket pairs that just want to build a pot in case they hit.

Postflop I think it's cool to float one with overs and a BDFD and bluff him out of the pot on later streets. AK/AQ are no unlikely holdings.

As the hand played out I perceived him on the turn to be bluffing enough to make this call. The rivercard looks a bit nasty, but it polarizes his range extremely. He must have something like 9Ts, 56s, or 55 to be playing like this. The thing is, his overshove makes me think too, that a large portion of his overpairs (if not all) are removed from his range (--> he'd probably more cautiously with those, even a fish should see there's a straight possible). Mathematically: We are getting 1,82:1 on his shove (36% bluffs needed for a correct call).

It's probably really close but I decided to call because he's very polarized here.

What's your pick on my play, and do you see any flaws in my logic?

it's a guessing game
i guess i would fold river since he bets so big on the turn...
if we call and he shows us AJ then we split... is it worth this guessing game in order to split ?
on river we have to be good more than 33% and i dont think we are

Yes, it's a guessing game. I'm not saying you are wrong, but folding the river because he bets so big on the turn is something I don't understand, maybe you could explain?

I don't think we are splitting a lot of the times. Hard to say if he overplays AJ like this, I don't think so. As I wrote before I rather think Villain is very polarized in this hand, so either we are good, or we are crushed.

AA-JJ =24 combos-6 combos u block= 18 combos
AK and is 16 combos- you block 4 combos = 12

Total air hands villain has; 12/30= 40% IF he goes crazy with AK.

Good call down if you expect him to play AK this way. If he has more trash hands that he is playing like this then its even better.

Personally I would fold otr without reads.

Call pf ok- flop float is ok-

Forgot- I dont think that the river card is scary in villains eyes. Do you have many 5x /9T in your range?

There surely must be some since you decide to play for stacks with TPTK versus a 3-bet against UTG that keeps firing big. Don't try to figure out whether villain is sitting on air.

He could equally well be greedy holding AA and therefore min-bet pre. Does it look like "he wants to build the pot" with 76s OOP or does it look like he wants you primarily not to fold (thus building a pot with a monster?

Play primarily your cards would be my advice.

Ok, that all makes sense to me, thanks, guys. Btw, does no-one here want to know what he had?

The most common reason for people betting big is that they like their hand, you have showed interest by calling (twice, preflop and flop), and they are limbering up to get AI by the river.

IMO the only realistic air hands otr that would play like this are missed flush draws. You have the Ace of clubs so you block most of them. ->fold.But like I said if you think that he is spewwy then call. But I dont think that you have enough reads to assume that.

Yes, it doesn't matter what he had as 1in 20it will be yhis hand but the rest will be a monster.
I hope you made a note on this one.

Exactly my thought!!

Nah, just kidding
When I saw his line, I thought KK+. It really looked that he was craving for value. Definitely a note about villain should be on its place.

Cheers:f_drink:
