888 Poker - $0.02 NL (6 max) FAST - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $2.89
SB: $1.00
BB: $1.91
Hero (UTG): $2.09
MP: $1.32
CO: $1.00

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has A♦ A♠

Hero raises to $0.07, MP calls $0.07, fold, BTN calls $0.07, fold, BB calls $0.05

Flop: ($0.29, 4 players) 8♠ 7♥ 4♠
BB checks, Hero bets $0.29, fold, fold, BB raises to $0.94, fold

BB wins $0.82

Maybe nitty by me here but it's important to note that this is SNAP poker, I just find when I shove over the top here that they almost always have the set or straight, leaving me with just 9% equity.

However, I'm interested to hear how many people would shove or fold here. So please go ahead and tell me and explain your reasoning's if you want to.

Yeah I know, just couldn't do it because I was in a little downswing where the big hands had been getting cracked everytime. Made me afraid to get it in again.

I know that's a weakness and that variance will even out, but when you are in a rut of bad runs I find it hard to do this, which isn't good.

I would shove here. This is NL2, villain is shortstack and probably fish.

This range might be a bit wide, idk:

MP2 56.63% 56.00% 0.63% AdAs
MP3 43.37% 42.75% 0.63% QQ-TT, 88-77, 44, T9s, 87s, 65s, KsQs, KsJs, JsTs

So villain can imo raise with QQ-TT,sets, 2pair + some draws. We have over 50% if this is the case.

BTW you have a nut BDFD here also. Another reason to shove on top.

just couldn't do it because I was in a little downswing where the big hands had been getting cracked everytime.

This is definitely a mental leak you have to work on. Downswings happen but every single hand is different. You might have a long bad run but it doesn't mean that this hand will be the same.

Call and see turn. You got the Ace of spade so you can also call spade turns.

Thanks for your thoughts Lassi.

The bit I have quoted in bold I must remember, it's definitely a mental leak as you say.

If we do this the pot will be $2,17. Villain has $0.90 left. If he decides to shove on a non-spade turn, we would have to be right only 20% of the time to call it. Are we going to fold? Calling is ok too and it would work well if it kept villains range wider but I don't see him folding much if we shove. And I don't know if a spade turn is really what we want to see because villain could have a completed flush in that case. Imo shove is better option.

@andiofwbafc

Reading The Mental Game of Poker 1&2 helped me. There are also some videos and articles about mental game here at pokerstrategy. :)

Thankyou.

Now that you've had a chance to discuss the hand as I played it at the time (With no hud as it's Snap poker which doesn't allow it) I would like to post villians stats that I have in PT4.

BB: $1.91 (VPIP: 28.77, PFR: 19.86, 3Bet Preflop: 4.20, Hands: 438)

Does this change your thoughts on anything?

Also there's a note made by PT4: [F] Raised Flop Cbet w/Overpair or less & no draw (1)

So he's raised my cbet before, small sample obviously, but if the hud was available at the time I would probably have shoved.

Doesn't change anything in my opinion. He is the fourth guy entering the pot = he gets good odds and can have a wide range so I would say he can have a lot of draws too. He has raised you before with overpair or less, which is completely standard imo. I think shove is good here. We could call but we would probably end up calling his shove OTT too and if we shove we probably don't tighten his range much, he will continue with draws.

Thanks once again for your thoughts, I will take them on board and next time I'm in this position I will remember what to do :f_drink:

Yea no problem, I'm glad you found that helpful :) It is only my own opinion and someone else might have some other input in this matter but I think shove should be okay.

Yup, we most likely are behind there. We play vs UTG opener in 3bet pot who donked pot size multiway. Looks scary. I really hate that second king there. Maybe it would have been better to fold OTT. I know folding AA is not easy. Still overfolding is not as big a leak at the micros than overcalling. If you are not sure if you should fold or call, fold should be fine in most cases.

Well that was nice :) Only thing I would change is your 4bet size. I would do it much bigger.

Yeah I know. My thought process was that I wanted to keep everybody in (which is never a good idea even with AA I know) but on this occasion it worked out, thankfully. :f_thumbsup:

Yes this time it worked but if there is may players who see the flop there is a bigger chance of one hitting 2pair or set. I get your point but you forget protecting you hand. We don't want anyone with JT or similar flopping a straight :)

MP3 43.37% 42.75% 0.63% QQ-TT, 88-77, 44, T9s, 87s, 65s, KsQs, KsJs, JsTs

So villain can imo raise with QQ-TT,sets, 2pair + some draws. We have over 50% if this is the case.

This is definitely a mental leak you have to work on. Downswings happen but every single hand is different. You might have a long bad run but it doesn't mean that this hand will be the same.

For me its fold here. This would be classic case of over playing AA.
I think we should take out QQ of his range. It has to be 3bet pre.
I dont think villan is raising only Ts9s not T9s.
its not only 65s but all 65 combos. pre flop on BB he gets too good price to call even with 65o.
And only flash draw dont rais here. its better to call for him and try to get more players to the turn. So naked flush draw is out of his range here. They just dont play that aggresive in multi way pots.

Equity Win Tie
MP2 35.83% 35.22% 0.60% AdAs
MP3 64.17% 63.57% 0.60% JJ-TT, 88-77, 44, 87s, 65s, JsTs, Ts9s, 65o

And now its fold not push.

One big problem for me here is that I dont think villan is raising over pairs 4way on the flop. HU yes but not here.

MP2 13.83% 13.29% 0.54% AdAs
MP3 86.17% 85.64% 0.54% 88-77, 44, 87s, 65s, JsTs, Ts9s, 65o

and now its easy fold.

I know nl2 we can see some crazy stuff but I still think its fold.

I think shoving is ok when villain is not with full stack. Talking about the initial hand.
