Overall, today's session was a rollercoaster, but it was not without my own mistakes. I need to do some hands review, I'm getting into many spots that bring confusion, some spazzes come along ( but some could work if I pushed it harder ). Anyway, one more day of grinding, hopefully I will play a Sunday Storm tomorrow and will make my TBC report on Monday morning. GL.

Last week I didn't play as much as I wanted but I'm very happy with my overall attitude towards poker. As I mentioned before, I was getting a little hard time playing at home so I found one of those public co-working offices and from now on I will be spending there most of my poker time. Great way to get out of home, get some of that office atmosphere, quiet, people around yet easy to focus, nothing distracting.

Most of the time I was playing pretty decent poker but sometimes I was trying to do something not really reasonable :f_eek: When I went through some basic HM filters I found two disturbing leaks in my game - called vs 3b - I need to be more cautious with those spots, I need to check the biggest hands and see what went wrong. Second thing, even more disturbing is my Coldcall preflop winrate which is negative and it's negative even if I exclude blinds. Overall I lost 4 BIs when coldcalling preflop and that's really bad, especially when I realize that might as well I could just simply stop coldcalling whatsoever and my winrate would have increased with additional 4bb/100. Obviously that's not the case. There may be several reasons for that, maybe I'm not bluffing enough or maybe I'm not bluffcatching enough ... or both. Anyway I got things to improve and I'm motivated to get better at it _cool:

June is coming, I've never been a huge fan of strict goal setting but tomorrow I will make a "plan" for upcoming week, weeks, month. I feel really motivated to take poker more seriously so I feel like I need to ... take poker more seriously _drink:

Today I got the worst session since the beginning of the challenge. It all began with those AA above ( straight flush comes from yesterday ) then I just couldn't win a hand. Whenever I had the nuts I was getting no value whatsoever, whenever I missed the board I couldn't make them fold cause they always had a decent hand to call me down, my draws were not completing, whenever I had a mediocre hand I had to fold it eventually as I was either facing aggression or the board was just terrible.

Good thing is that I played 4000 hands today which is the best since the challenge ( too bad it happened on a day like this ). Monday was off, yesterday I played 2200 hands thus so far I got 6200 / 15000.

Something I've learned from today's session - no matter how variance goes I need to stay calm and concious - that has to be my strategic reminder. First part of the day was rather boring and eventually I was forcing action here and there, then I made a couple of hero calls that I wouldn't have made if the session was going just "standard". Still, I ended up with -1,5 BI ( 2 BI under EV ). Not bad after all. I will try to play 4k hands tomorrow as well.

One of the hands that helped me at the end :f_drink:

Man can learn from his mistakes only when he knows he makes them.

Today's session started not so good, some small tilt appeared after a few bad spots but at the end I got back on feet. I've learned another new thing how to deal with sessions when variance is not in my favor.

Something I've learned from today's session - no matter how variance goes I need to stay calm and concious - that has to be my strategic reminder.

Well, yeah, sure, great advice from myself. :appl: It sounds fine but it's a shallow advice, not a solution, not a strategy. Today I found a better way how to make sure that I stay calm and concious during a worse day. Whenever I feel there is something wrong with my mindset and that makes me play badly, I need to take a break and when I go back to poker I need to imagine like I would have been a poker coach making a video for beginners !! That way I will play straight forward no matter the variance cause I will need to justify every hand just like I would had to do that on a beginners poker video. No stupid calls, no stupid bluffs. I think this will be a good strategy.

Same question here, donkbet or x/r ? As played I think I should raise bigger. Awesome showdown by the way _thumbsup:

Anyway, session went ok but later I had many hands I had to fold in pretty big pots and lost 2 BI in 400 hands without a single showdown. I don't think I will complete my plan for this week, will see. Challenge summary on Monday.

If I were you I'd rather post hands in a hand history format than the boom player, since SOME people (yes, me  ) are too lazy/doesn't bother to open and watch the boomplayer :f_drink:

My NL5 so far, it's been pretty decent except couple of days of bad variance. Since my bankroll went almost to $300, this week I will start playing NL10 with 10BI stop loss. There are some basic things I still need to work on but I think it's a good moment to move up. When it comes to my plan for prevoius week, well I didn't achieve my goals so I will move them for this week. Wish me luck _drink:

THINGS TO IMPROVE :

  • coldcall preflop winrate - I made some improvment here
  • call vs 3bet - will see how it goes on NL10 since there will be more 3bets here

  • watch 2 videos about both coldcalling and calling vs 3bets

:fouet::fouet::fouet:

What a horrible session, it started so nice and then I just couldn't make anything. I don't know if it comes from not playing aggressive enough or not bluffcatching all the way or it's just variance. I had similar session like that on NL5 last week, flat blue line and red line just falling down. Does it happen often to You ?

Spoiler

In here ATs is my 4b bluff range, I think cbet is fine, I got BD FD and Ax, villain might be folding his 2nd pair and most of his other range as this flop is really hard to hit with any SC etc. OTT I though checking isn't bad, if he has something like TT, JJ, QQ pretty much he always checks back, in many cases he will x back Kx. Once he shoves I just don't have a right pot odds with FD assuming he's not shoving air. What do You think ? Would You shove turn to make him fold hands like TT, JJ, QQ ? Assuming that he's 3betting those ... ?

Here once he calls the flop I assumed that he connected with the board in a way that will be hard to make him fold cause all his broadway range hits here. How do You play hands like that ? Would You double barrel ?

Here it's pretty much just a suckout, the only thing I would have changed now is to raise on the flop as most of the time he's betting here draws and weak Qx imo. Nevertheless it wouldn't change the final result :f_rolleyes:

in general people are more likely to reply when you describe your own thoughts for the spot and ask a concrete question .... aaaaand concentrate on one or two key hands in the first place. You know, we are living in a tl,dr society :-)

short comments from me:
1. fold pre as OOP sucks
2. also no double barrel as the turn changes nothing and calling ranges are very similar
3. What can you do? KQo is your weakest hand UTG?
4. just fold...
5. "f*** my life"
6. lucky river for you to loose the minimum

Thanks for help, I posted those hands in hand discussion thread and I got some helpful answers there.

1. Well I wanna have some 4bet bluff there and I'm not calling ATs thus I 4b this hand especially vs BU 3b
3. Yes, KQo is my lowest broadway here

I am going to follow your blog fellow zoomer ,

I dont have 4b bluff range at all for NL10 yet, i need really large sample of hands to know if player is folding to 4bets. It is working fine till now, lot of fish, especialy for promotion.

Also i play lot less than you, i play only when i think i can play A game. I dont play If: i am on downswing/tilting, not sure what range my oponent can have in every moment, or i find myself at river decision, not knowing how action was going, and how did i get in that spot. I am not forcing myself into playing, i think it improved my winrate.

I wish you good luck with challange :f_drink:
