Poker Stars, $3.11 Buy-in (100/200 blinds, 25 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 3 Players

BB 27/17 3bet 13% - 122 hands

Is my play here just too ambitious?
Should I even call the 3bet? Should I have shove/folded pre?
When he cbets small, I'm thinking he has 2 over cards and I try to take the pot there and then with the shove, but is this just a really bad play?

SB: 2,083 (10.4 bb)
BB: 4,062 (20.3 bb)
Hero (BTN): 7,355 (36.8 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 5♠: 5♣:
Hero raises to 400, SB folds, BB raises to 1,000, Hero calls 600

Flop: (2,175) 2♥: 6♥: T♦: (2 players)
BB bets 800, Hero raises to 6,330 and is all-in, BB calls 2,237 and is all-in

Turn: (8,249) 3♦: (2 players, 2 are all-in)
River: (8,249) 7♥: (2 players, 2 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

8,249 pot
Final Board: 2♥: 6♥: T♦: 3♦: 7♥:
BB showed K♥: K♣: and won 8,249 (4,187 net)
Hero showed 5♠: 5♣: and lost (-4,062 net)

His preflop raise looks particularly strong with a short stack in play. I think he would often shove any two overcards and small/medium pp up to JJ. I would make a tight fold preflop. OTF - You have to have a very special read that he may have put a cbet with air oop with air after your r/c preflop

His line looks indeed strong, but he 3bets a lot. So I would consider to 4bet shove on him and then he should fold a decent amount of hands as 2nd in chips, but based on his decent gap between VPIP and PFR I don’t think he is a good player. So he most likely isn’t folding often enough and then is folding on his 3bet the best option.

Cheers,

Ive just gone through all the hands from when it was 4 handed, I should have folded pre
He 3bet twice, the first time he cbet small on A high flop, other time took it down pre
Overall he was playing very tight, he must have played very loose at the start to get those stats, as he was virtually always folding his BB to my BU 2X and he folded well over half of his SB v BB

I have not yet advanced to those settings, but I know that you can adjust the state of your HUD based on the stage and the amount of opps in play

Yeah you can do that but its hard to get enough hands even against regs to make it worthwhile info. I tried it before but didnt really find it beneficial, the fish tend to play the same from the start to just before the bubble anyway.

It would be cool if it only filtered if you had so many hands against that particular opponent
