Nice blog metalmonkey,
I was checking out a few pages so far and it looks like you have a nice schedule worked out for yourself.
Good luck at the tables.

Once again this month has been a write-off. Although today with the good weather this early in the year I thought I would spend a few hours playing.
On the NL cash I played around 200 hands and quit after being $15 down. Moved onto tourney and out of the 6 I played got flushed out in all but one.
TBH today has been a total flush. Regardless how nice looking a hand I have lost all to flushes. Here a couple of example hands.

In the one game I cashed in I managed to run deep out of 4965 I came 251cashing $4.39 winnings and $5.46 bounty.
The reason for not playing much lately is I am waiting for new ID for a new room. For the rest of this year I am aiming to grind the welcome bonuses. Initially starting with a $200 - $400 deposit and working my way up to the higher deposit bonuses.
Until this happens I won't be playing NL cash. So my plan for now is to play tourneys with a aim to making a big cash ![]()
Also I will be catching up with some education and tuning into some live coaching. Looking forward to w34z3l's Academy - Poker Players Toolbox this Thursday. Today I tuned into Play Loose Win Big - Live Session with Asimos. Although I don't play zoom it is always good to apply some of the tricks in my regular 6-max NL games.

I will try and update my blog in the coming weeks as I have procrastinated a lot since the beginning of the year ![]()
11 hands is just not profitable!!!!
Thanks RockRoll458 for dropping by.
I was checking out a few pages so far and it looks like you have a nice schedule worked out for yourself.
My schedule is still something I am playing around with as lately I have found you can't schedule the unexpected events of life, which most of the last few months have been about. I forgot to reply to your post earlier about a HUD. FreePokerDB (FPDB) is worth looking at if you are on a budget.
How did you get on with the 5 point plan??
Until next update good luck at the tables.

Done a bit more this week with poker and am starting to get back in to the swing of it. Overall this week I have been playing tournaments, a few spin and go's and a lot of satellites for the Sunday Million. In total so far 60 tournaments. It feels good to be playing them again rather than the usual grind of cash games. Although I haven't made any great cashes from it I have finished high in the field.
Here are a few results from some of the games I did cash in.

My favorite tournament is the $1.35 knockout on stars as I have cashed in this game a lot over the last few years. I have found that playing 6-Max cash has really helped me improve on my ranges in tournaments. Before I was quite tight and didn't think much about my post flop play. If only I had a expendable bankroll I would be playing higher buy-ins.
For now though I think $2-$4 is ok.
Next week I will be getting back to the grind as for now I think it is important to keep up with learning for when I move rooms. I still haven't got the necessary bits together to move yet.
I am going to taking part in LemOn36's 40,000 Micro Hand Challenge and hopefully reach the goal in that time. Shame I missed out again on the Gemstone promotion this year. But I am not going to miss that next time around!
Until My next update good luck at the tables.
Hey deary!
Feel free to add me on skype, I've decided to play some MTT's as well lately and I'd love to have someone to discuss with! My skype is vo enki but without the space. I love those bounty builders as well!
Matt,
Thank you for the tips, I was reading on those sites a little bit last week. I hear you about dealing with the unexpected.
As far as the 5 point plan... I'm still working on the basics and have a little way to go with that ![]()
It looks like you are doing good with the tournaments on Stars, keep it up.
Sometimes I get deep into the freerolls without scoring a win too often. It feels encouraging and disappointing all at the same time!
I finally hit one last week after some recent let downs- Just a satellite, but it was eluding me.
I like the photographs of the Fowey River on your blog, Looks like a really nice area.

Much more focused day today. I would say I was on my B+ game. I haven't experienced a day on the felt like this one before. With stars service maintenance up then down like a yoyo for most of the day I have encountered lots of regular tourney players having no option than to play cash today. In one way this was easy pickings and in other ways a nightmare. For example I encountered bet sizing preflop in the manner you can find in a turbo knockout tourney.
I have played nearly all day on 6-max 10NL and find that I am getting the hang of this limit nicely. For about 15 minutes I decided to try 25NL and became fearful resulting in loosing $20 in 63 hands. I know I still have much to learn before I attempt going up again. To give you a idea how my day has been, below is my results for the day.

As for general issues I really need to get a grip of my bet sizing as I know that opportunities are being lost.
Over the next few weeks I also must start learning the PF and 3-betting charts as I am missing opportunities and becoming stuck in certain spots.
As it has been a while between working grind sessions I also need to get back to doing my routine as achieved in my 30 days challenge.
I have gone back to bad habits and this is affecting my performance.
From now on I will highlight points in red so I don't forget.

I played one tourney today. The $1.35 turbo knockout. This is my Favorite tourney and I have got quite far on many occasions. So while the cash tables were down I decided to have a go. The short of it my Aces got cracked leaving me with $210 chips early on. So the next hand regardless I decided I would shove PF. This is what happened!

Thank to Vonki and Rockroll for dropping by.

Thank you for the support and when it comes to the unexpected my thought on this is not to procrastinate as I have learned. There is nothing I can do other than deal and get on with it. ![]()
I know the future will bring similar circumstances and the important point is to make sure I have time for poker.
Fowey is a magical place all year round. In the depths of winter you can witness some amazing storms in the high of winter an abundance of nature and festivals. Sadly though next year the annual Red Arrows displays has been cancelled for ever. Apparently It is too dangerous!! Although over 20 years without any incident.

Hey Matt great progress in your blog reading from start to present, keep it going! You are going places

Today has been a story of the Ladies. Each day I play something happens that I have never seen before. Today I had many pocket queens and lots of frustration trying to make some gains with them. Overall the last two days has been disappointing but I have had many bad beats resulting in a 4 buyin loss. Last week I binged on the tourneys resulting in a dent in my bankroll and this week hasn't helped.
These events haven't tilted me as I feel on top of my game. So bring on the remainder of the week and better reports to come.

This challenge started off ok and even though I am down now it is only over 7K of hands and I know this will change as I grind the rest of the 33K remainder.
My results so far.

Over the past few months I have not been on my A game for sure. A mixture of on and off table elements. No excuses though to neglect my blog
At best this year I have reached over $900 in my BR which means I am able to use what I have learned so far and achieve results. Since starting my journey in poker I have come across tilt on many occasions and again just recently. So in the spirit of the word of the day I shall be 'Renovating' my whole plan in order once again to tackle the tilt, on and off the table.
Since my last post I have done a combination of cash and tournaments.
Most of the tilt has been on the cash side. I took part in Lemons 40k challenge and decided to switch from 25NL 6max to 10NL 6max. For the first 4k I was slowly working my way up to a ok BB/100 After which I started to encounter horrid variance. The more that it happened the more I found my self taking risks to bring it under control and recover, of course resulting in more loss.
I decided to stop at 35k hand just short of my 40k goal.

Over the coming month I am moving rooms and taking advantage of the welcome bonus. I have wanted to get an idea of the volume needed to clear that bonus and this challenge has been a good test run for me.
After stopping the 40k challenge I switched back to FR micro tourneys and found myself playing the open & premier skill league games on stars. Staying away from turbos and bounty builders I find that the 10 min structure is a nice pace and easier to run deep.
It has not been all bad and I have had some really nice events happen.
One day I encountered a day of final table / cash bubbles.
On the other case I ran deep on the $1.10 cashing $16
In the recent SCOOP I made the main event of the $11 game. Entering Day 2 with a very short stack and had to go all in with my first good hand (A3o BU vs A9s) At least I cashed $19.
In the past month I have played as many of the Skill League games on stars. So far my League rank: 1024 · Score: 1484

I am having issues with the Tournament reporting in HM2 for a few months and are unable to get a correct result. This is what HM is saying my all time results are!! I wish it was true!! ![]()

I have cleared all filters. restarted / reinstalled and followed instructions but still no good.
On the cash side of games I have moved back to FR 25NL in a attempt to slowly chip up my bank roll before I move to a new room. After playing shorthand I have found that the range and tactics learnt have really helped me improve my game on FR.

No two days are ever the same. Today was a very good example of that
The majority of my high cards today were only QQ or AK. So far this week I have had a very high frequency of pocket Queens with little luck and very awkward boards to play them on. I play them with caution at the moment. The same goes for my favourite AK, I have been here before and that experience has helped me minimize the losses. I have had plenty of them and out of them all only one made cash for me. In all honestly I should have given it up, but was saved by the river in that case.
To sum today up, I was swimming against the tide as it went out and came in! At one point I was $55 down. But by the end of the day I fought my way back and ended $24 up. I am truly exhausted.
