PokerStars - $0.02 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $1.48 (VPIP: 100.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
SB: $1.98
BB: $0.94
Hero (UTG): $2.26
MP: $2.23 (VPIP: 33.33, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 3)
CO: $1.91

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has A♦ K♣

Hero raises to $0.08, fold, fold, BTN calls $0.08, fold, BB calls $0.06

Flop: ($0.25, 3 players) 9♦ 3♥ K♠
fold, Hero bets $0.18, BTN raises to $0.36, Hero calls $0.18

Turn: ($0.97, 2 players) 3♦
Hero bets $0.28, BTN raises to $0.56, Hero calls $0.28

River: ($2.09, 2 players) 2♠
Hero bets $0.86, BTN calls $0.48 and is all-in

On this hand I feel that I made numerous mistakes. Especially regarding bet sizing on the turn. I feel my turn bet should have been no lower than half pot.

Question: My biggest question for this hand is how should I have played the hand from the opponents flop min raise onwards.

VS villain flop raise I would call flop, xc turn and xc river if bet sizes are below pot.

If villain bets big on all streets then I think we can expect to be behind sometimes but I believe we can profitably call down with tptk in this situation.

On a side note I would raise the standard 3bb preflop but 4bb should be fine as well.

What hands are raising the flop?

Microstakes + unknown villain + raise otf.. I would say he has a pretty strong hand when he raises on this dry flop so I wouldn't bet OTT at all.
So your turn bet was too much and as played you definitely can't call a second raise with TPTK.

So to answer your question. I think you can call the flop min raise, then you can check call OTT if villain doesn't bet super big but river is a check fold.

Thanks for pointing this out Nitrol. I really need to start developing this kind of thinking. As i've just started I am too caught up in following basic strategy lines that I don't really take the time to think for myself at the situation.

Considering positions and the board texture, I believe BTN is very strong OTF (probably a fish when not having a full stack and raising that flop, but most likelly a fish with a set). Anyway, I think calling his flop minraise is fine. Turn is a check and a close decision if he bets imo. I would rather check/fold, but check/calling is probably fine. River would then be a clear check/fold to me. But hey, I'm a nit! :f_drink:

You have to always ask yourself questions - what will happen if I raise/call/check, what hands are calling/folding....etc . Do not hurry to click buttons, take your time and think.

Agree with that. I would not lead OTT though.
