What do you think?
How should I play my AQ in such situations.
Player is completely unknown, so I decided to make my standard 3-bet with AQs.

I would most likely 3bet as well against an unknown, but I would 3bet larger against a raise and a call. Than the change you will end up multi way is smaller than now. I think 700-800 in total would be better here. As played it’s an easy fold on the flop.

Cheers,

Thanks for your answer.
But I have to ask you about my 3-bets in general.
I'm 3-betting with AQ+ JJ+ from any position.
What do you think about that?
I'm pretty confused because some already said that this is the wrong approach.

Its not the wrong aproach. But there is a better one. In tournaments you want to play smaller pots and build your stack without alot of risk of your tournament life. Thats why I prefer flatting those hands. If you get 4bet you have to fold, if he has worse alot of the times he would fold a dominated hand. :f_thumbsup:

I tend to flat with AQ, but some times I might 3bet, it depends on the original raiser and how likely other players are to call. If you are at a table of players who love to see a flop regardless of the action in front of them then just call as otherwise you are bloating the pot unnecessarily

What do you think about adjusting my 3-bet range to the openraisers position?
If the openraiser is between first and 4th position, I 3- bet only with AA and KK.
Because of the fact that normally openraisers have strong range in this position.

When the opponent openraises between 5th position and the button, I accordingly loosen up my 3-bet range to Jj+. Because of the fact that the openraisingrange of my opponent is very likely much looser in these positions.

What do you think about that?

I think I really should tighten up my 3-bet range. Only 3-betting with hands with which Im ready to risk a significant portion of my stack.

You can loosen your 3bet to have more bluffs in it (hands that dont do terribly when called but also have some blockers - like A2-A5s, KJs, AT) rather than hands that you want to see a flop with like JJ. Its a disaster everytime you get 4bet and have to fold, knowing that you dont see the flop and also flatting preflop and folding postflop would have lost you less than the folded 3bet.

But dont go 3bet bluffing left and right just cuz... make sure you have some reads your oponents are wide and willing to fold their garbage most of the time.

You need to find the right opponent to 3bet bluff, loose pre flop & tight post flop, and At 1$ tournies not many people play like that, if they are loose pre they are generally loose post flop as well and will often call your cbets with anything so you need to be good post flop to play it profitably

But if you would have to establish a 3-bet range for different postitions against unknown players, how would you do that?
I really appreciate your help so far and I know what you want to say.
But as a beginner I would like to see some specifics.

I hope I dont bother you but I really need someone who puts me on the right track.:f_biggrin:
