Hello SPeedFANat1c,
It is a very complicated world when looking at food supplements. I have been researching this for the last few years now. First I would like to say that we must be careful when throwing out the 'Cancer' association to supplements! There is not enough concrete evidence in many areas on this.
You can never touch food supplements in your life, lead a healthy life style in every way and still get caner just because you live in a ley line area . We can get cancer purely from genetics in family history. 40 - 60% of all cancers are related to diet!
Think of the body as a language. For a language to be complete it needs libraries of books which are made up of sentences, which are made up of words, which are made up from letters. The letters represent the fundamental building blocks, without which language cannot be built. Vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, fats, sugars, water and air are those building blocks. The requirement for these different building blocks is remarkably constant throughout the animal kingdom because essentially we share a similar language. Different disease states may result in different deficiencies, but everybody needs the basic building blocks in order to achieve optimum health. The major dietary factors identified so far are:
fats;
fibre;
carbohydrates-as promoters of cancer;
antioxidant nutrients-as inhibitors and retarders of cancer.
The descriptions sounds good, but I have no idea about those chemical things. I know that vitamins and minerals are good, but there is other things:
- L-Arginine ( is an α-amino acid that is used in the biosynthesis of proteins)
- Phosphatidylserine (Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid and is a component of the cell membrane. It plays a key role in cell cycle signaling, specifically in relationship to apoptosis.)
- 5-HTP ( tryptophan and 5-HTP are very effective in the treatment of depression.)
- Ginkgo Biloba (An extract of Ginkgo biloba leaf (GBE) is marketed in dietary supplement form with claims it can enhance cognitive function in people without known cognitive problems. Studies have failed to find such effects on memory or attention in healthy people)
- Co-Q10 (Co-enzyme Q 10 is a co-factor on which depend some vitally important mitochondrial enzymes involved in the production of both ATP (adenine nucleotide translocases) and therefore also energy)
They all can help you, But first you must look at you diet and lifestyle before moving on with adding food supplements to your diet. Please note you must get these supplements from trusted shops. Be warned of imitations found on the internet.
I hope this is some help to you and if have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
Regards
Matt
