Stacks:
UTG loserKill ($0.55) 28bb
UTG+1 sulmar65 ($1.70) 85bb
CO pucelay.29 ($2.97) 149bb
BTN Mastropierop ($2.50) 125bb
SB Hero ($2.46) 123bb
BB llauma5 ($0.57) 29bb

Pre-Flop: (0.03, 6 players) Hero is SB J♣: Q♦:
1 fold, sulmar65 calls $0.02, pucelay.29 calls $0.02, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.11, 1 fold, sulmar65 calls $0.09, pucelay.29 calls $0.09

Flop: T♠: 3♥: K♣: ($0.35, 3 players)
Hero bets $0.17, sulmar65 calls $0.17, pucelay.29 folds

Turn: 8♥: ($0.69, 2)
Hero bets $0.30, sulmar65 calls $0.30

River: 2♦: ($1.29, 2)
Hero checks, sulmar65 checks

In retrospect it is obvious that I should have played the hand passively, but I guess there are times where I can make better hands fold, such as AT or maybe JK.

imo, you played that hand well and i don't think the passive way is the best option

I would just skip the turn bet. Your hand doesn't improve and I'm not sure how much fold equity you will have with less than half pot bet.
Otherwise this looks ok.

Why do you raise it up preflop? To steal the pot? Forget it, limpers limp anticipating a raise, and intend to call it.

I m o, there is no reason whatsoever to raise it up preflop. Weak hand, weak position. Just limp in. It costs nothing and offers wonderful implied odds.

As played: Flop bet is fine.

Turn bet is optional. Fold equity is not all. If there is none, it is often cheaper to see river by betting (small) yourself. There is a big advantage in having bet turn yourself if you happen to hit the river. If you check turn your implied odds might not be there. If that is the case, check-fold is better than check-call.

I would limp preflop too. BB is very short and if he pushes we are out...
I think we can bet turn too.

Thanks guys for the comments.

I do ROL in that situation because I believe there are many players that limp with marginal hands and it's likely I will have the best hand. I may win the hand there and if not I may isolate myself against only one opponent and have enough fold equity to make him fold OTF.

For those who don't agree with the ROL: would you still just limp with better hands such as JK, QK, AJ, etc?

It's acceptable to just add pre-flop
