I would prefer to push here, you have a good hand on the blinds and your opponent doesnt show much strength. On flop you have to fold you just have backdoor draw and probably 2 outs for A

Cumps ;)

Hi, Dominik,

1) The best value you can get from this hand is - PUSH IT PREFLOP! :f_drink:
2) In scenario where he'd open shove here - I'd happily call his preflop push all day long.
3) In scenario where he'd open-raise preflop - I'd just 3bet all in every time.
4) As played in given situation - just fold it on flop.

You're having a very strong hand here, where most of the times in blind vs blind situations you'd win here for sure. Ofc., if you run into higher Ax or some pocket pair - that's normal from time to time (and even if your against some pocket pair like 22 - 88, youre having 47.65% chance to win), but given effective stack size is like 11.3 BBs, I'd be happy to have A9s on BB in these spots every time.
Even if his pushing range was wider, you're having a decent amount of equity to jump in and take down the pot!

(put some hands that I often see in these spots, so A9s plays very well in this case, just get it in preflop:

- So if you wanna have some value of this hand and not feel awkward on flop - just ship it preflop!

GL,
John

Pre-flop is indeed a standard play and I think the situation will look most likely even better then JohnTheGreatest put in Equilab, because I expect he will raise or push the top of this range like 99+ and AK for example.

Cheers,

Would you also 3-bet push against an openraise from the Button or the Cutoff?

Yes, I would 3b-shove vs BTN and CO as well with given hand.

First hand you have 88BB you do not need to 3 bet all in, you will win a small pot lots of times, but lose a huge pot enough to make it a hugely negative play, only consider 3 betting all in with around 25BB or less even then I would only go with AT or better.

Second hand I actually think is ok have about 30 BB which is a bit big to shove, you are out of position and 3 bet is fine against his range and so is folding

What is your play like does he shove over you as you open or raise alot? A tighter image may have make your 3 bets more effective.

If the BB had a stack of less than 20bb as well I wouldn’t mind the shove in the first hand, but now I would 3bet to like 600 and call the push of the short stack.

The 2nd hand I would play the hand the same way with 3betting. Now the BTN is shoving he should be very loose with stack off to make a call with ATo profitable I think.

Hej,

so I assume you would push medium pocket pairs as well in such situations ?!

That would be insane and this is a complete different hand as well. Now you are playing a lot deeper and I don’t think 3betting is profitable at all in spots like this against an unknown. I would call this for set value. Especially in a fishy tournament like this.
