Hi guys!
i did bet to protect my hand against draws ...i don't know if is correct to call here...
I think i'm facing a set (QQ, 99?), FD or another AK... He seems fish and i think he can shove with TPTK or FD.
worth call here? Or fold is the best option?

You 've have showed power with the line you choosed but he did not seem to mind so I think he has it there. It is 2NL so i do not think the pre-flop call invites light squeezes or that villain is counting on any fold equity when he shoves OTT after you (rightfully i think) place a bet.

He reps a small range of AQ(6), AA(1), QQ(3) but untill you see him do random stuff or play draws as the nuts, folding in this spots is profitable i think.

What Deomedes already mentions he represent only value hands here I think. Also, it’s the question if you have a value bet in the first place on the turn and there aren’t too many flush combos in his range that would 3bet and firing the flop against 2 players that checks the turn I think. I would most likely check behind and her-evaluate the river.

Cheers,

Xb turn seems fine.
As played, follow the Baluga Theorem and fold everything below top 2p.

I have to say that I pretty much disagree with everyone :f_biggrin:

First about your turn bet. I think that when villain checks there you might very well get autoprofit by betting, he might be giving up often. I also believe he can have a lot of weaker made hands that will call once, but he also has a lot of draws and pair+draw hands in his range. So I think betting for value and for protection is reasonable here.

When villain showes, it looks weird to me. The board is drawy and I don't think he should be checking the turn with sets or 2pair that often. He can easily check there with his As2s or 7c8c etc... Following Baluga and folding would be ok, but for some reason I have a hunch that he has a drawing hand. Imo it would make more sense to play those hands like this.

I don't see why I won't raise preflop. Bc of the flatscalls pre, you have no clue what range he has and you prob have to fold turn (not sure if I could though...) but I like your bet OTT.

I also don't see why BB looks fishy to you. His stats look fine to me, and the sample is decent. Sure he is a LAG but deffo not extreme.
Only BTN is the fish at the table imo.

I agree with TurokRider a lot. 3Bet preflop. You will have position on MP, and seeing as BB looks to be an aggressive 3Bettor, he might as well be attempting to squeeze here, therefore if you 3Bet in the first place, he will fold a lot of the time.

As played, especially if BB already has some resteals from the blinds (small sample size, I know), I may even consider 4Betting him preflop even if you flatted at first. If he was attempting a squeeze (he very well might), you make him fold and pick up a nice pot. Only thing I am worried about here is the MP open and call of BB's 3Bet, as he looks quite tight and we can assume he won't open nonsense hands from the MP. However, he only flatted the 3Bet, so I would assume he is not THAT strong (KK+).

Seeing as I have position on BB, I go for something like 25 BB - 30 BB and wait for what he does. If he shoves, I probably fold and don't feel bad about the hand.

This is one of the things that I have quite radically changed in my game recently - playing AK way more aggressively. I get it, AKo is a great hand, you don't want to fold it, but don't want to get shoved preflop. Flatting can be fine, the problem is that if you hit your TPTK, you don't have great information (if any) about Villain's range if he is very aggressive preflop as in this case. Based purely on stats, Villain doesn't look like a fish. Aggressive, yes. Fish? Until you have seen him do something really stupid, I wouldn't assume so, his stack size is standard as well.

As played, your turn bet is fine, you may have some value against multiple hands (some other high Aces, KK, draws etc.). Unless I have a read on Villain, I fold here, he could have so many better hands than you (this is the problem by playing AK passively preflop).

I consider the call preflop a serious error. You NOW have a premium hand, and you want to win the hand now. Or go broke preflop. If it comes to all-in after your 3bet, your odds are good enough. Additionally, a preflop push avoids the (more or less) difficult situation on the later streets.

OTF and later, the hand is played fine. OTF, your hand is not strong enough for a raise. OTT, after villain’s check, you have to protect. Under other circumstances, your bet might be too small, but considering his stack, 1/2 pot is enough. I slightly differ with la55i about the strength of the shove. I’ve seen it with every possible hand, but mostly with strong hands. People haven’t heard on NL 2 of protection.

I agree that when we face a squeeze, we can put some pressure and 4b preflop. Even push.

Very good comment!!

Not 3betting a broken stack MP with AK is a huge mistake.
