River: ($43.80) 6♥ (2 players)

15 hands only. Seems recreational. Ag 5.0

Do you agree that our hand works best as a call-down on this type of board? Do you see any reason to shove flop or turn?
As played would you vbet river and if so, how much?

i like as played. think vbet river is to thin as hes unknown and might be able to c/r river as value or as bluff sometimes which would be really bad for you.

i dont like not valuing river. Agree rasing if villain bet will be thin, but definately not thin if villain checks.
At the end that is what we hope will hit river, no? :)

Also, go 4b pre ;)

I'm gonna look like a troll here but it's just insane, how can you guys just be saying some shit about raising/thinVB/4b... without even mentioning some ranges first. Also OP don't just ask questions. write out what you think his range looks like etc.

check up your pt4 how much on general players 3b on BB on your stake, use that range for unkown and say ok it's 5%, what does that mean, he has strong rundowns strong KK, AA etc. then check how your hand is doing against that range and if it pushes that equity edge for for a 4b otherwise not same on the flop before raising ask yourself am I gonna raise for value or for bluff, vs that 5% is it for value? no. then am I realy gonna pick this hand for my bluffing range? no. ok maybe he's overfolding so much that it's worth it? we don't know, probably not etc. so you figure out whether 4b or raising flop is correct or not. same when you get to the river do worse hands call or better hands fold? ... he doesn't have FH there ever, 77 66 55 73 etc. isn't in his 3b range, so could he have a FD there? yes, could he have a 3 there? yes(like AKQ3ds) but he was only betting 1/2 all the way so it's a no unless he has a spade FD with it. so only worse hand that calls you probably is a 3 with some heart blocker or somthing with a spade fd which is nothing. on the other side he also probably doesn't have many flushes since he'd probably 3bar it. so it's close but I also see him having AA with H blocker that calls you so tbh not sure in higher stakes but in micros I'd bet. but I wouldn't raise his bet if he bets small because he might be betting small a better flush than ours just because we could have 77 37 55 etc. in our range although fish isn't thinking that but he wouldn't call our raise anyways so that I see no point

I don't think typical 3b ranges are going to be that helpful when:
1. It's HU and;
2. He's an unknown rec who's just sat down.

He had Q♠:7♠:T♣:4♣: which is a lot wider than 5%. This means that it's not entirely reasonable to just say "he doesn't have FH there ever, 77 66 55 73 etc. isn't in his 3b range, "

I'd say that HU no one is going to fold a better hand otr if we bet. That would be pretty disastrous from a GTO pov. He might x/c some Q high or K high flushes but he's not going to fold them.

i never said he's going to fold better I just said how I'd think about whether to bet or not.
u have 15 hands on him if it's 0/0 in those 15 hands than u should use 5% range, if he's 67/45 then ofc you use wider range, you didn't give that info so I assumed the tighter range cuz most villains are tighter, you should assume his range based on population tendencies or some nice reads from those 15 hands and go from there, certainly better than to have no range, and when you see showdown you adapt but never assume he has wider range until shown otherwise. so what were his stats at the time this happened?

see, this is extremly important. then u know his range is wider probably than 5%, then hand analysis is totally different, not sure why you didn't post that in the beginning already cuz ranges change tremendesly. it's still not a 4b tho imo, just that river xb becomes clearer probably

But this is his stats after 15 hands, including the hand played. It's HU. How can we really know what his 3b range is? I'm not trying to be difficult - I just don't have much idea how much a recreational player will 3b HU compared with 6mx. I agree, if he didn't play a hand yet; I'd put him on a very tight 3b range, but beyond that I'm not sure how accurate we can be.

you learn that with experience and kind of know where they might be at, like small sample better than no sample, if u see 50/30 u know he's wider than the average so you assume he has some rundowns etc. ofc u can't know exactly

Bet on the river is a bit thin. When hero calls flop and turn, what else can he have except made hands and flushes? And if hero has a made hand (less than fullhouse) why would he bet it? There aren't many hands that can be used as a bluff on the river, so opponent shouldn't be bluff catching wide.

I think it's well played, hard to see any other ways to play it on any street.

thanks for the input kyyberi, this river spot would be goot to look at in pj vs dfferent 3b ranges and his 3bar/xc tendencies, might do it in the future

Well, I dont think the hand is played bad at all, but what do you think about bluff raising turn?

When we look at our raise-call IP vs his 3bet OOP ranges he probably has only 53 and 73 for boats because even recs prefer to see a flop with low PPs instead of 3betting OOP. And we can have every boat, a turned straight, plus we have 4 clean outs (with alot of implied odds) for top boat and sometimes clean flush outs if we get called by a straight with low fd.

... Or maybe we need more reads to start bluffing?
Kyyberi said if we are not sure whether to bet or check we should bet. Is this the same about raising? :f_biggrin:
