PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.1 Tournament, 75/150 Blinds 20 Ante (6 handed) - Converted at http://www.handhistoryconverter.com/

Hero (Button) (t18,868)
SB (t18,446)
BB (t6,741)
UTG (t11,153)
MP (t2,687)
CO (t5,000)

Hero's M: 54.69

Preflop: Hero is Button with J♣, J♥
UTG raises to t450, MP raises to t2,667 (All-In), 1 fold, Hero ?

Hey guys! What would you do in this spot? I see myself ahead of MP but the UTG raise is scary and I have some players still behind me that could wake up with a hand. If I 4bet or push, I risk over 100bb. If I call, UTG most likely 1) also call and create a big pot or 2) shove and I am in an even worse spot. Fold would be the safe option but I feel JJ is too strong for it. What's your line here?
Sadly no reads/stats on the table

Fold, but there is not a big difference with shove. Aks and QQ already are shove, but not so happy.

I think calling would be a good option to and then you can check it down and fold if someone will bet on 1 of the streets and if 1 or more players behind you will shove you can still fold.

Cheers,

JJ in 6-max is too strong to fold. I think too that calling is a good option. Just flat and see what happens. We still can get out facing a shove from UTG. If UTG just calls the hand normally gets checked down or we still can fold on a very bad flop, facing a big bet.

UTG can't just call. If he calls, already this is very bad for us.

This is also very bad for us.

Calling with any hand in this and other similar spots is a huge mistake.

JJ in 6-max is too strong to fold

Actually this is the most dangerous hand, because of this type of thinking.

JJ is a dangerous jam as well against an UTG raise...?

He have 75 blinds. Let's say, we play $1,5 Sit and Go 6 max in PS. Second hand. In the first hand some guy lost a lot from his stack with two pairs. Nothing special. And then UTG raises to 60 chips. All in 360 from the shorty. And we have JJ. What do you think? Is this a profitable call or shove?
Like I said, I don't hate the shove. I think the fold is better. But the call is very very bad.

Thanks for all the comments. I think it's a tricky situation, especially without any reads.
I played around with ranges a bit to get a better idea and came up with the following possible range for UTG:

22+,A9s+,KJs+,QJs,ATo+,KQo (open for discussion)

Based on this range, we now have three options available:

1) Fold - low variance option but pretty tight 6-handed and we might miss out on some value

2) Call - here we have to adjust UTG's range for the flop. Maybe something like 77+,AJs+,AQo+. The question is how much we still want to invest post-flop and which board is good for us. If we have an overpair, UTG might bet for value or contibet. Do we call either way and fold to a second bet on the turn? As soon as one OC hits, it gets ugly. Even if he checks and we do as well to keep the pot small, we might let him draw for free. I think calling leads to some very difficult spots post-flop where we can lose even more. Worst option in my book.

3) Shove - most variance-heavy option but if we assume the above range of ~12% open raise and think that he will only call with premium hands like QQ+,AQs+,AKo (3%) we gain quite a bit through our fold equity. That means he folds 75% of the time and only calls us in 25% of the cases where we still have 38% with our JJ against his tighter range. I am excluding MP here since the important part is the battle of the two big stacks.

I did shove in-game and I think based on the calculation in point 3 a shove is +EV. But I can also see a fold here. I personally don't like calling since it can get pretty ugly post-flop. I'm happy that some people find the hand interesting and wouldn't mind some more opinions on it. :f_wink:

So in the best case we jam our 120-something BB-stack by an iso-raise, hoping that UTG doesn´t call, if yes, we flip against his range or are underdog against his 74 BB stack. We have no information about UTG so we don´t know about our fold equity. I wouldn´t jam JJ in this spot. I don´t understand why flatting and playing this hand postflop should be so bad - we have position, we are BTN and we still can get out without loosing too much of our stack if the board turns out to be bad for us? (Explanation would be awesome ---> I wanna learn!). I´m with "SDK".

This is ironic already, right? @DaToepFa explains pretty good. You will learn. For now you can call 1/4 from your stack and play some "poker".
