Making 100k in [s]Thailand[/s]Vietnam, at nl50-200

Cool my 100st post in my blog is going to be a whine, how classic.

I'll keep it short, cuz no-one likes whines. But i probably had the worst run i've had in a looooooooooong time. All these horrible plays from regs that all get rewarded for full stacks. In the last 5minutes i had 2 guys 3b/calling pocket 44's and flopping a set on A4x dryboard vs my AK or similar. Which on the long run is just a horrible play. And to top it off another guy 3b/called 57s CO-UTG vs my AA and flopped trips. No idea what pokersite teaches those ranges.
Not to mention all the flips i lost on 200 today.

Can't win everyday.

The nl400 swongs are realll. I need to get used to be able to swing 1k in a matter of minutes. Relative to my roll this actually is quite some money, so i might drop the worst tables. Losing a stack or 2 on NL400 just takes ages to regrind on NL100-200.
Also had quite some alcohol this weekend, really notice how this affects my mental capabilities, even 2 days after consuming it. Because of this i haven't grinded as much the last 2 days. So i'm going to keep the alcohol to a minimum from now on, it just cuts WAY too much on my capabilities. Whereas when I was Popping pills i was as clearminded the very next day as i would normally be.

Ok Time to update this again.

It's been busy times lately, so haven't had time to update here. For my goals at the beginning of this month i said i wanted to play 150hrs. I almost hit this target but some things came up where i had to skip some days. Nevertheless i played ~130hrs already and still have a small grind planned tomorrow. The lifestyle i'm currently living flows naturally hand in hand with my pokergrind schedule. Intermitted fasting till lunch. I already logged 3 to 4 hours of grind when i start eating. This helps alot with the mental focus and clarity while playing.
To further enhance these mental capacities i'm already using L-Thyrosine as a supplement and doing research into bio-hacking my system even more.
Caffeine ofcourse being a big factor to sustain the fast during the mornings. As of tomorrow i'm actually going to start to blend in coconut oil to see if this works like the internet says.
During the month it was rather hard to say no to parties in the weekend, But my biggest winnings were probably during these days. If you ask a random guy if he goes to work on saturday if he gets payed 300% he'd probably also says yes so.. Only difference is, As pokerplayers we're our own boss. One time i had a bit more alcohol as planned and i could still notice this the next day during my grinds.

All in all this was my best month ever, consistent grind times, a bit rough start profit wise but that's natural variance taking its course. Also with this increased capital i've started looking into investing my money into cryptocurrencies. Else the remaining bankroll i have just sits there doing nothing. This is also the main reason i didn't hit my 150hr goal. Chances of me actually getting a "normal" job are getting slimmer and slimmer with the projected plans i set out for the coming months/year. Once you have enough capital it's better to let your money work for you, instead of working for money. I might be taking a 'big' risk with the investments i've currently made, but like i said; otherwise my money is just sitting there. And i really think it's better to get into crypto's NOW and reap some of the benefits if you have some spare money you can miss. Bitcoin just surpassed the 6k(!) barrier today, while last week it was 'only' 5k. And in the beginning of this year it wasn't even 1k. Massive growth, and i'm not even talking about certain altcoins that are out there.

Weekly updates:

Was a bit sick before the weekend so played a bit less. Took a day off and played fewer hours the days after. Results wise it wasn't going that great either, dropping 1k+ in the first 2 days, but recouped fastly after, now i'm slightly down for the month ~100 or so. But i feel i lost more than i should, played quite some hours with my B-game, or worse.
Being sick did make me catch up with one of my favorite netflix series "The blacklist". Semi binge watched it, now i have to wait for new episodes to air.

The crypto adventure:
So i'm about 1 week into crypto currencies and already made 500$ of one of my loans. Take note, i don't trade myself. I have a slight idea how trading works but the effort vs reward atm is too small at the moment. I would need an even bigger capital to start fully investing. What this means is: At the moment i'm still playing poker fulltime and transferring a bulk of my profits into cryptocurrencies. This is the golden part about being poker player. It's alot easier, as a pokerplayer, to invest a couple of 100 or K's per month than if were to have a 'normal' 9 to 5 job.
Then this money i'm investing is generating more money which i can reinvest etc etc. It's one big snowball effect when done right.
Where am i investing my money atm? -> Like i said, i'm not trading myself, i'm lending it to highyield investment programs. People often say they're scams, but with the volatility and massive growth of bitcoin were seeing right now, you can earn some nice extra cash. It's a matter of creating a good investmentplan, diversifying and not getting too greedy.

Hello Hello.

Haven't updated in a while since i didn't feel there was any merit to doing so. Pokerwise December was quite awful in general, i already hit my goals so my motivation was gone. Making me play less and worse.
I was in my head busy findind a 'normal' parttime job to not throw away my education so to say. But deep down that isn't what i want to do. Randomnly came across this post of Patrick Leonard https://bitb-staking.com/what-if/ that actually explains my situation. Except i'm the guy that already has a college degree, so if i'm going to pursue poker more i'm going to get a huge gap on my CV. So be it. I'm earning alot more than a normal job would do, so taking a normal job would be a step back for me. If i'm going to work 'normally' i was planning to get another university degree and focusing on both is just bad for both things.
Currently still in the search for a place i can rent cheaply in town nearby. That way i can still save alot of money for eventually buying a place.

My crypto adventure has been a little rusty, bought some BTC when it was <14k last month, we all know it went up to 20k and back to 14k. With that investment i'm back at square 1. Was a longterm hold anyway. Furthermore i have a couple of 100$s divided over several coins.

The goal i wrote down for this month was 100hr, a bit low due to ski-holiday at the end of the month. But it's my lowbar, i think with a solid grind i'd be able to get 150hrs, which would be my highbar with a few days off. (I'm already at 48 /w 2 days off). Had my best day ever for a while last week but had to close it at the end as my 2nd best day ever. Still a good way to start the year.
To shut everyone up about poker not being a sustainable job i got the goal of earning 100k+ THIS YEAR combined with some crypto investments.

Ordered some new books today. I like to read before going to sleep. Biohack TIP: It's best to shutdown electronics <30min before sleeping because they emit blue light. Giving your brain the signal it's day-time and thus not sleepy-time. What better way to spend that time by reading. You could also take a walk or whatever, i prefer reading.
Latest book i've been reading is Tools of Titans by Tim Ferris.

It's not your typical book, does have alot of interesting stuff in it. Basicly Tim interviews hundreds of succesfull people. Some with which you connect and others that are work in field you are no way connected so i tend to skip those parts.

I'm just going to post here to REJINX myself. After last post i had my biggest losing days ever if you add 'm together. That's what you get if you move up and run Ultrabad. Seeing 1k pots getting sucked out at still kinda hurts. Gotta build that mental toughness to new highs!.
Running bad did let me notice i wasn't playing A-Game either anymore, i hadn't studied my game for a few weeks or even months since everything was smoothsailing lately. But to get higher i have to study even harder.

Otherwise seem good quality components to me, I guess you checked this RAM doesn't have problems with this board and Ryzens(AM4) on general? I was not checking much of the news last months, I know in the beginning they had problems, but probably fixed already. And damn what is up with RAM prices through the roof O.o

SSD disk is decent, Samsung 850EVO is a bit better and faster, but I don't think there is a practical difference really so 25GB more is good.You can go at some point for PCIE based disk one like 960EVO which are much faster.

Haha maybe i will in the future. At least for this year i want to be in Holland during the summer etc. Going to Asia in the raining season is Mehh. So i might go there At the end of the year to skip the winter here. I really came back at a bad timing with the weather...

I did a google search for that RAM compatibility, i see some issues popping up, but newer posts say the ryzen 1700'x' version has that mostly fixed.
At first i almost bought a processor that wouldn't fit on the motherboard, that's how technical i am with pc's nowadays. :f_ugly:, i

Pokerwise: Very swingy, it's halfway through the month and every session i'm almost swinging my entire monthly profits up and down up and down.
If it were a few session Up up up this would be a great month. Just alot af badrun on the higher stakes.
Did book a decent win today :). Will play another sess tomorrow and i'm taking sunday off to look at some motorbikes.

My new batch of books arrived a few days ago and started reading in Secrets of the millionaire mind. Everything came across sooooo familiar. Then i realised i already listened >50% of it via audiobooks lol.

Already hit my 100hrs goal for this month, currently at 102. Will be adding another ~20 the next few days before i'm going skii-ing in Austria. Resultswise could've been better, made a few bad plays that kinda hurt my winnings. Still a solid green number tho, played a lil bit nl400 again too.

This really is an extremely high quality blog. Most of the time, whether it be on this site or any other social medium, blogs are just blah. Varune is very descriptive in his writing and not only is this blog interesting to anyone with a love of poker, it legitimately gives a great glance into the eyes of a westerner in SE Asia. I've read all of this blog, enjoyed it immensely, and it's given me quite a bit to ponder about my own future and dreams.

I'm probably going to blog a bit more active again, using it more as a log too for myself to read everything back in the future to see how far i have come. And seeing poker is the main subject, doing it on a pokersite is the most obvious choice.

Took a half day off this afternoon to go some shopping after having a tremendous hotrun this morning. I had a hard time spending all the money i won in the morning lol. Also due to everything still being in sale, >50% off etc. Bought some VERY warm italian sweaters, that i already saw before i went to Asia last summer. Never made the time to actually buy them when i got back. So now i did, nearly at the end of the winter. Tomorrow it's 14 degrees celcius here, #sweatsessions. First time i updated my winter wardrobe, cuz I didn't need any warm clothes in Asia.

Also turned in my Sony Action Camera at Mediamarkt(also known as MediaMarc(as my real name is Marc(Jokes on me))), since it somehow broke and wouldn't charge anymore. I thought the battery was dead so the most logical thing for me would've been: test another battery. But the stupid cashier had to send it to technical staff etc etc, now i have to wait 2 weeks for them to replace the battery. (fyi: it was able to connect to my pc, only the battery wouldn't load and it was easily replacable, just like in most phones)
