I just dunno what to say, or what to think to be honest.... First thought is how did he even call pre flop, and even how did he call on the flop.

I had a tight image, infact for the 30 or so hands he'd been at the table I don't think I'd played one!

This was deep into the $1 - $10,000 GTD on full tilt... After enduring it through 6,000 players and 500 left, I never put him on pockets, or would of raised pre flop... I would think... And I Couldn't ever put him on a J,9 here. Maybe I over fired on the turn... But I like to follow my semi bluffs. Once he shoved for 3k more I couldn't laydown.

I dunno, am I expecting to much respect from players? Sure you'll all have something to say, but seriously, this hand had me replaying it over and over.... And I don't think I would change the way I played, except possibly the turn... Argh! I was well over average stacked to... Busted a few hands later to take a measly $3.50... I was actually thinking I was on my way to a top 50 at least here.
Played perfect till this point... Then I done something I never do, sat and argued with the bloke till I was out. His mentality was... "I won, you lost. I'm better than you". I don't bloody know. hate this game at times.

the guy is an idiot, he put 18% of his stack preflop with J♠9♠ , you can't expect someone who does this to fold middle pair weak kicker , can you?

Don't try to argue with him, hope he is proud and plays like that again and again.

About your hand:
- the preflop raise to 4bb is a bit high but It's fine.
- Bet more on the flop, you are betting a bit less than half pot-size and this is the kind of board that a half pot size gives correct odds for a lot of stuff.

Turn is fine, bet/call is better than checking there.

Good bet sike 4k. The guy makes bad call preflop complete donkey. but anyway he calls.
In the flop you have nuts flush draw, but you didn't have a hand yet, probably you should bet 1/3 pot 3-3.5k, if you got called in the turn you must play chek/fold. As played you bet 5k and got called, you should think the guy have something AT probably, set, or JJ, PP is posible as well.
In the turn you must let your hand go you should check and fold against a bet even if he gives you good pot odds to your flush draw you cannot call because there are pair in the board full house is possible you should fold in the turn. In my opinion your mistake is that you go almost all-in and pot commited with nothing just a draw in the turn.

i would make the flop bet bigger.
because you have a flush draw + 2 overcards to the board i would try to commit myself to the pot here.
i would bet 8k at least and call if he moves all in.
of he only calls your bet you have an easy shove on the turn because of the pot size.
on the turn its not that easy anymore i think.
the pot is 13k and you still have nothing.
his call says he has something and i dont think this bet will make him fold any hand he called on the flop with.
but if you bet here, just bet him all in.
the 10k commits him and you anyway so just push him all in if you want to bet.

when you make a bigger bet on the flop you dont have the tough bet on the turn if you dont hit.

Wouldn't you want to leave good odds for the flush anyway? and as you are on a drawing hand why invest too much on the flop?

If you have a made hand you don't want to leave good odds for a flush draw, if hero had JJ instead of A :diamond:Q

With a bigger pot bet here it's easier to commit our hand to the pot (against single pair it's either flip or ahead and ahead of draws) and the chances he folds something like gutshots + overcards , weak pairs increse so it's a good idea to play this draw agressive.
