Hello,

Flop: I would make the CBet a bit bigger, ~$20.
Turn: Fine.
River: I am folding here, I don't think he will very often show you some worser hand, looks like trips or FH to me.

Best regards,
Rensu

I am betting the turn since I see myself ahead and wanna get value. As played the river is a close spot imo. Reads would help here. I am probably folding since I don't understand why he shoul do it with an ace or a busted draw - he would rather bet smaller. --> fold.

What do you think about checking behind on turn for bluff induce on river? Or it's more profitable to Bet out on turn?

I dont think given the opp that turn barell has much sense, bcs his utg l/c range is close to 100% PP or some better like AK, AA even if he knows we are agro and he awaits BU raise from us...(or whats table image?? are there some fish who he wants to play PP against? .. we can rule stronger starting hands out then)

hence i d treat turn as wawb, bcs i dont expect he has any draw here, also> if he had fd like AKs i think this opp d c/r this flop bcs he must know our cb barelling is 100% on this flop...

thats why i give hime a free card and hope A appears as it had .. but i d expect lower bet also... what is our wtsd ?!? if we have more than 23 and we know he knows this i am folding bcs i await 33 or even AA of him here, however if we are tighter in calling, he can represent extrastrength which would take it here 99% of times if we dont have AA only (he know we are folding just an A here and every single PP right? ).. bcs we prolly barell with 33 or 99 turn, or? ... so it should be very close if we know he knows we are tight and hes capable of such moves.. but on this board its even not that difficult to do such thing imo, bcs really our calling range is sooooo narrow that it should be +ev for him to shove anything here. So the most important thing here is our image in his eyes

I disagree! He will most likely have a pocket, right. And these pockets could call again ( every pocket). Our hand is not really strong, therefore and because of the possibility he might have a draw (56s, fd are possible) I want to take the free showdown unimproved. If he raises we have a very easy fold.

bet>>>>check

I also disagree :) ..

we only get value from 4 worse hands 55-88 by betting and even that is not that clear bcs he might fold em, he has wts 20 ! and i dont know what are his lines vs us if we are looser agro or sth, prolly depends on how much we bet mostly .. but still.. i completely disagree that protection is the issue here, 56 or A2 is never in his range imo.. only AKs is really sth drawing but as said before i dont believe this opp plays such draw oop passively so he d most likely c/r flop there..

+for bluff induce or wrong=overestimated value bet or stop bet he will bet river with any PP vs us or deffo AK, AQ whereas we never get any value from him by betting turn here.. so he most likely has 2 outs with his PP and we have 5.. also with Ax we have him well covered.. so the more i think of it the more i am convinced of c behind turn is better ..

btw> i never said our hand is any strong at turn, but its deffo wawb imo, so protection bet is not needed here.

thelastnail linked me to that interesting hand ....
since i tried stars the last 2 weeks (and i just love it ) i post my thoughts on this hand too.
btw: whats the nickname of utg?

preflop: perfect isolation, we have the power button. this scenario is like printing money.

flop: vs unknown cbetting is def fine. vs known reg i would either cbet and planning on 3 barreling or checking back the flop and betting any broadway turn and/or river. really depends on villain. just too many pockets in his utg l/c range.

turn: i suggest a bet/fold here almost always. if he really has a pocket 55-88, he might call us again not seeing any high-scare-card (ofc depending on our image. if we are a nit, its hard to get any more bets out of a pocket on any street). also, there are possibly many fds in his range that wanna pay. if he l/c pockets utg, he will also l/c small and mid scs utg, right? or maybe Axs.
why should we bet the turn and not going for bluff induce or value on the river?
- river can bring many overcards = scare cards for his small pockets. checking back turn and betting the river then screams like value bet. even a bad reg then might fold his pocket. as a bluff this line works pretty well vs thinking players cuz "we should never be bluffing here after checking back turn".
- furthermore, we dont know for sure, that all his busted fds will bluff the river. hence, we lose a big bet from his fd range.
- if balancing was an issue: makes us exploitable when we not cbet turn as pfa when turning tptk imo. but thats another story.

river: im snap folding. he has 4x, 33, 99 or AA here. thats his entire range imo. bluffs wont overshove 3x pot in this spot. overbetting is fun, but not too many players use it properly.

in his spot i would c/rai river. our hand is face up as a small pocket most of the time or a fd. good spot to get a bluff bet out of pfa. i would never donk out. anything that can call a river donk will vbet on the river.

if we had bet the turn in this hand, i would bet the river really small trying to let busted fds freak out and giving small pockets a hard time and levelling them into a call. :f_cool:

to answer your question with a smiley: your river call is really bad imo :f_ugly:
without history its a snap insta muck. and even with history ... its nl200. u wont see an i-level-u-3xpot-overshove-bluff w/ busted fd here.

ok, i surrender :)..

but i ll stay by my guns in the way our image in his eyes is the most important here, bcs fe to me, everybody would fold 55-88 at turn .. so i just want to bet small river and get value.

but> i agree that the problem is to face riverbet as we did, even if at blank if it wouldnt be a shove just 4/5p or sth.. we have to call more to get to know where we re at, whereas turn bet we can make smaller, fe 2/3 and get to know the same for less.. so playabilitiy at river deffo easier and we save sth also most likely

so yes turn bet is a solid option  :P

Well I try to be critical, to have discussion going, bcs mostly asap u say sth ppl just stop discussing, which i dont thing is also good.. even if u re right it s alw good to have some deeper discussion going on so everybody actually takes the best of it.. also this hand deffo changes my perspective on these situations..
