888 Poker - $0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 113 BB (VPIP: 15.00, PFR: 10.00, 3Bet Preflop: 12.50, Hands: 21)
SB: 100 BB (VPIP: 24.76, PFR: 24.76, 3Bet Preflop: 5.13, Hands: 107)
BB: 125.4 BB (VPIP: 25.23, PFR: 22.52, 3Bet Preflop: 11.69, Hands: 237)
UTG: 110.6 BB (VPIP: 17.39, PFR: 13.04, 3Bet Preflop: 14.29, Hands: 23)
MP: 113.2 BB (VPIP: 16.18, PFR: 11.76, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 71)
Hero (CO): 105.8 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Q♥ Q♦

fold, fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, SB raises to 9 BB, fold, Hero calls 6 BB

Flop: (19 BB, 2 players) T♥ 5♦ 6♣
SB checks, Hero bets 10 BB, SB raises to 34 BB, Hero calls 24 BB

Turn: (87 BB, 2 players) K♣
SB bets 57 BB and is all-in, fold

I opted not to 4bet here because villain is in SB and only 3betting 5%. If I was to 4bet here, how much would you guys make it? Shove or just 2.2x-2.5x? Effective stack sizes are 100BB so quite large, so I'd probably say 2.2x-2.5x as I would be getting called by much worse (maybe AKs but Im still basically flipping against these).

OTF I take my opponents check as a sign of weakness and place a bet with my overpair.
I call his 3bet as I think he might be trying a fancy move here with overcards. Other than JJ I don't think there is anything I beat here.
I fold to his shove OTT as it fills up more hands that I would be beating OTF. Really only bluff catching from this point.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

I'd go for a POT 4-bet PRE.
As played OTF and OTT I like it. SB really looks like KK or AA or TT here - I'd not even give him AK as he x/r on that flop.

your thoughts are mostly good

preflop 4bet is probably slightly better, with the sizing you mentioned.
vs his pfa check/raise i'm just folding the flop. you did realize that you are far behind his value range and it's reasonable to assume that most people's bluffing frequency with this line won't be very high (most people just cbet instead). thus the logical conclusion is to fold the flop

I would bet slightly bigger OTF. As played i dont like ur call on villains x/r. Either fold or shove. We're committing ourselves and it's very likely we're facing a turn bet.

As played its hard to adjust villains range to find a profitable call OTT. Means, we better should fold.

I am not sure we can fold an overpair on flop...

Recommend to start 4bet COvsSB especially against 3x 3bet, can start with 20-21bb, because the ranges are wide we can call the 5bet shove.
OTF: I would bet just 1/3 of the pot to get his weak hands under pressure and call on raise, he can still x/r KQ,QJ,98, J9s...
OTT: tough decision, depends on villain stats and tendencies, because it's really good card for him and for his bluffs, but I trust that people still don't check/raise bluff enough OTF. So based on that fact, I would prefer just fold, but make note. Next time start considering about call OTT against him.

I 100% agree that this spot I should have 4bet. Though thanks for pointing out that it was COvsSB, as this makes that point even more valid (I think we can 4bet QQ vs any position really).

I disagree however that villain can x/r KQ, QJ, 98 and J9s. This would mean villain is x/r with three-to-a-straight, possibly with a BDFD too. I think it would take a good read on my opponent to be able to make this assumption, as I don't think that this is in the x/r bluffing range for most people (especially at the micros).

Here, villains range isn't even capped because we called his raise. I think we can likely put him on a strong overpair or overcards such as AK, AQ, but even then I think a x/r is spewy.

Agree that players won't often x/r 98s,J9s... but imo it's more likely to x/r these hands than AK or AQ, because they are using like a check/call very often, because of their showdown value.

Good point. Do we think villain could x/r here TT?

Do you mean OTF?
I don't think so, because the board isn't drawy and we block many Tx hands. So I would rather just x/c it's also good for protect our x/calling range, because x/calls are usually weaks in 3bet pots. And you can add AA for example, because it isn't very vulnerable hand too.
I wrote it from villain perspective.

Yes I meant OTF. Just trying to see what you think he could be x/r with. You're right that the board isn't drawy, but this makes me think his range is polarised in that he either has total air or a monster.

I wouldn't say that total air, because x/raises in 3bet pots means value hands or some weak draws like BDFD, gutters.. basically it can be any bluff with equity, but not total air.

I opted not to 4bet here because villain is in SB and only 3betting 5%.

Dingdingdingdingding. Alarm bells are ringing and I can again start talking about my favorite topic: too small sample sizes :f_biggrin:
That 100 hands is way too little to get even an accurate overall 3bet%. And that 5% is his overall 3betting % that wouldn't help us much here anyway. We have no clue how he plays his SB.

His check raise OTF doesn't make much sense to me. First I think if he has any calling range on SB, pocket pairs should be on that, not as 3bets. So I don't think sets are 100% always in his range, but sometimes yea of course. The second thing is that the board is so dry that he likely shouldn't have any raising range here. There are just a few reasonable bluff hands, like gutshot+bdfd, and some overpairs could be in his value range.

It is difficult to put him on a range because I think he really shouldn't be playing many hands this way. But the fact is that people at the micros check raise bluff too little. Especially in 3bet pots. And especially when the board is dry like this and they don't even have many good bluffing hands. So I would say he most likely has a value hand, he did 3bet 55,66,56s pre or something like that, or then he is check raising a big overpair.

Yes, it doesnt make sence and it looks so strong. My tip is something like AA, maybe set.

Maybe, he doesnt know how to play AK but it doesnt matter. I see it as strong already OTF, i would fold it and thanks him for his shove that I dont need to spend more money into this spot.
