On the micro/low stakes, there are, you know, those nits who want to fold ITM, doing time-play in MTTs .... against those I indeed consider a jam. But with that 2,5 BI shortie itΒ΄s indeed better not to take unnecessary risks.

Nice session finally for this month with over 400€ profit :) But lets go through few hands.

Pretty nasty spot in 50 sng in bubble today.

BU, hero: 3870
SB: 2900
BB: 3275

Blinds 60/120

Hero raise to 240, SB fold, BB shoves, hero?

So we face 27bb shove and we can usually be pretty sure villain wont have biggest pockets so I would tend to discount those and some of AK combos. Run with some sort of range http://hands.holdemresources.net/?id=1doe9jza6rr0f and it seems even AQo might be hand to fold as default. AJ I would have folded for sure. Unfortunately villain had AKo here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was one of funny hands versus random player. I open raised here pretty loose considering shallow stacks but BB had been passive so I dont mind to play nice playable hand from position. SB was more reggy pretty aggro guy though so maybe this open was bit optimistic tbh. But we have almost straight flush so...

CO: 1480
BU, hero: 2750
SB: 2800
BB: 1390

Blinds 60/120

Hand 5♦:6♦:

Preflop: Co fold, Hero raise to 240, SB fold, BB call

Flop (540) 2♠:8♦:5♣:
BB shoves 1140, Hero?

So cannot be too happy about this flop spot. Villain will turn with 8x, 5x, 2x, 76, 79, random overcard hands here though so I think call is ok. We do block 76 but at same time we have backdoor flush and straight draws to give some equity. But lets use equilab:

If we put villain on range of A8s,A5s,A2s,K8s,Q8s,J8s,97s+,76s,A8o,A5o,A2o,KJo,K8o,QJo,Q8o,J8o,97o,87o so we have good amount of top pairs, some 5x and some 2x plus some sensible semibluffs and some weird overcards. Versus this range we have 47.55% equity so if this is close call is pretty easy to make. Usually I would just not assume villain to have e.g. two pairs here as those are very rarely played like this. We probably want bit over 40% equity here with the ICM side. So not spot to be thrilled about but I am fine with call. Villain turned with random KJo here. Solid line!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This last hand was pretty nasty, interesting and tormenting in many ways. So we have very nasty stack setup from my view.

BU: 15
SB, hero: 4060
BB: 5920

Blinds 60/120

Hand A♣:Q♣:

Preflop: BU folds, Hero?

Spoiler

So we have first major decision point here preflop. We 34bb deep with BU having 0.1bb left. So stacking off is basically disaster preflop. Out of curiosity I checked this spot as shove or fold and our range would be 3.9%, QQ+ AQs+ A5s-A3s AKo if BB call 2.2%, KK+ AKs AKo (not gonna happen) and AQs would be breakeven. So shoving is not too sensible with anything really.

Also open raising is pretty horrible idea as well we probably cant call versus shove without AA. So this is spot where we want to just open fold 90% of hands probably and limp remaining ones or something like that. So I went with limp-call plan. Limp-shove would give bit more reward compared to open shove and probably fine option as I think this BB was going to raise extremely wide. But we are still over 30bb deep so not thrilled about it either. With 20bb or bit more I would likely go with it.

Preflop: BU folds, Hero calls, BU raises to 360, Hero call

Flop (720) A♦:4♠:5♣:
Hero check, BB bets 360, Hero calls

Flop was great for me and calling is only option.

Turn (1420) 2♥:
Hero check, BB bets 730, Hero calls

Turn is ok but it does bring 3x straight possibility which is definitely possible as BB could be raising any2 preflop. But at same time his range when we come to turn has shitload of shit so to say. So while we dont love it we have to call.

River (2880) K♠:
Hero check, BB check

So river comes and its great one basically as now hand like AK is less likely. Maybe villain could have some random K2 type hand that improves with this but mainly if we were good on turn we are going to still be good here. Obviously I hope villain check but this is also spot where one just have to have balls and call if villain shoves imo.

Because if we think of our range. I wont have that many two pairs. AK but weak Ax are something I might just open fold. Maybe play Axs though. Thinking about sets I could have... Hmm well its sort of tricky. We are deep enough that set mine with small pockets versus 3bb preflop raise would make some sense. So yeah that including with fact that I would probably play same way with AA and KK. So maybe AQ would be fold overall. At least if I have those small sets. If not then its probably call from my range view. Obviously such special spot that not sure what I could have :)

But we had bit less than pot behind so I was going to hero call versus shove. Villain did check and showed down with 76o so he had very solid semibluff combo.

But yeah its rare when I feel nasty to get AQs on SB and its folded to me but this was definitely one of those times :f_wink:

Probably most absurd HU I have ever had moment ago. I almost drop opponent and he has like 1bb left. Then he proceeds to win three times preflop allin in row where I was dominating. After those I get ATs and think: "Maybe now..." and crush into TT and lose. After that I get some pots and get back close to breakeven and then get A9vsA3 aaaaaand lose

Out of curiosity checked what is likelihood of that. I dont remember all hands but if we assume those as 30% and 70% equity hands for villain then 0.3*0.3*0.3*0.3*0.7= 0.00567 so likelihood to win all those in row was 0.567%

Been while since I have been in spot I had yesterday. Open raised A♦:5♣: from CO and BB called. Flop comes 8♦:8♠:9♦: and goes checked. Turn is A♥:, BB bets 60% of pot and I call. River is 8♣: and BB shoves for 5x pot. So in theory I need to call some Ax because if I fold all of them to shove then its profitable for villain to shove any2. I will have 8x, 99 or AA occasionally but those are so small portion of my overall range that I will be exploitable.

Buuut while I want to keep balance on my ranges somewhat in most spots this is one where without really good reads I am happy to fold all Ax. AA I would call as I do beat 99 which could value like this also. 99 would be nasty as it would not beat any sensible value hand. Still better to call than Ax as villain could occasionally have just Ax. But to call with Ax villain does need to bluff decent amount as calling 5xpot to possibly win half pot is pretty bad deal.

If villain happen to think of my hand it does look like I have Ax pretty often and no one in these games at least will think: "Lets shove 5xpot to force Ax to fold" as 90+% of player pool will call with it. In theory even that big shove is probably fine play as villain reps such narrow range and I am unlikely to raise river with Ax. Though in GTO approach BB should mostly check turn and then have some check-raise, check-call ranges imo. Leading turn that will be way better for my range is not too sensible.

One interesting hand in today session.

We are in early game of sng. SB open raises, I defend 8♥:K♦:. We are like 40bb deep.

Preflop: SB raise to 3bb, Hero call

Flop (6bb) 8♦:Q♥:T♦:
SB bet 3bb, Hero call

Turn (12bb) A♦:
SB bet 6bb, Hero shoves, SB?

I defended versus preflop raise. Called flop cbet obviously. I would fold some of weaker 8x btw as this is very coordinated board that is usually not cbetted with all sort of crap. E.g. like 87o without diamond and such. Any Tx is likely too strong to fold. But here I have solid kicker with top pair and backdoor draws so this is definitely not fold versus any normal cbet size. I suppose it cbet is like pot size its reasonable to fold, maybe.

In turn Ad itself is ok card. Sure villain can have stuff like TT, QQ, AA, AQ that I wont have in my flatting range pre. But I can also have nutty hands like lot of flushes, J9 occasionally, KJ and also some AT, A8. Those two pairs are sort of reasonable shove hands here also. But any type of mediocre two pairs if I dont raise flop will be just call hands. Also some of flushes or like KdJx are ok to call only to keep strong hands in there. But weaker flushes I would just shove as those need some protection and by shoving some of strong hands I can also mix in bluffs. Like hand I had here.

When I have Kd I block obviously some of strong stuff from villain like nut flush or KJ or AxKd that are always calling shove. But one of bigger points is also fact that it guarantees at least 7 (but likely more) outs for me in any situation which is pretty nice to have when you make bluff shoves. Also I think villain has better good amount of time but if he is betting hand like KQ or AJ he is in pretty nasty spot when facing shove overall. He can also sometimes have like Jd7s type of hand that I am actually ahead of but if I just call turn its pretty nasty to call any river if its not diamond. Even 8 giving trips is not awesome but would obviously call that with blocker as support. But like K would give only bluff catcher. So I decided to just use this as semibluff hand and give honor of decision to my opponent. Making my life sort of easier in process.

PS: Villain did fold this time.

Bout the hand I like that play.
Due to blockers we can abuse his range.
What I'd call u off:
Sets, 2 pairs and straits (some of them u block) wich I'll have in my range sometimes . ( so u no lol)
Good spot good play anyway , I like extraordinary desigions I like good play when u no what u doing .

PS I ran on ur blog accidentally , by commenting a hand of mine.
I've always considered myself as a donk ( a donk in my vocabulary is smne thats recriational has the money has a wee bit of knowledge, but not enogh, but somehow can cause a severe damage to good players and himself as well. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ looool)
Anyways I'll keep an eye on ur blog I love sit and goes, tournaments am playing spin and goes and tourneys myself , i was a cash player years ago but i didnt play for 6 years and when i came back the now i find Im miles behind ...So in a few words i like ur blog
And id call this turn push sometimes πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ loooool .

Thanks nice to get some comments and feedback. For villain any set or better is obviously call but also like AQ. Especially with Qd.

Unfortunately has been pretty slow month start as we have visitors for week. They had to evacuate from their home for health issues for moment. Plus we also had my nephew for two days so not too much room for poker.

Today played short session. Not greatest of runs as instantly lost two times QQvs AK preflop allins, couple dominating hands allins and accidently misread missing SB so that UTG minraise would have been BB... Classical "open shove" really being 3bets shove with over 20bb versus UTG. My A2o didn't make it versus KK though. Also missing few combo draws and then get this sort of stuff versus reg:

CO: 20bb
BU: 25bb
SB, hero: 30bb
BB: 25bb

Hand 6♠:8♣:

CO folds, BU folds, Hero complete, BB check.

Flop (2bb) 6♣:4♣:3♣:
Hero check, BB bets 1.5bb, Hero call

Turn (5bb) 2♦:
Hero check, BB bets 2.5bb, Hero call

River (10bb) 9♥:
Hero check, BB check.

BB shows T♥:5♠:

Preflop complete is pretty standard. Flop is crappy to my range and I would check maybe even whole range. I mean villain can have any 2pairs and straights here while I will have less of those so check is pretty solid option. Go for check-call with my top pair and weak flush draw.

On turn I am not certain overall. My hand can definitely be good as this flop can make villain to stab really wide but at same time it's so tough to call any river so maybe folding turn would be reasonable.

River I would have folded probably but villain took safe road to just check with his straight. Well it's nasty spot if betting and facing shove but still checking seems nitty to me. My bluff range would mainly consist from some A or K high flush blockers and value range from some of those flushes.

But yeah was one of these sessions where my 15+ out combo draws were missing and then other regs make these sort of draws complete on monotone board :)

Well still close to breakeven.

Some profit on today session. Not really run good session but I actually managed to get couple suck outs for me as well. Has been rare recently :)

Lets take peak to two hands.

CO: 27bb
BU: 21bb
SB, Hero: 35bb
BB: 5bb

Hand A♠:J♠:

CO raise to 2bb, BU fold, Hero raise to 6bb, BB call, CO call

Flop (14bb main pot, 2bb side pot) 3♥:5♠:7♥:
Hero bets 5bb, CO call

Turn (14bb+12bb side pot) 8♣:
Hero check, CO check

River (14bb+12bb side pot) Q♦:
Hero shoves 15bb

So I am not really sure about this hand but lets go though it. Preflop CO open raise and his range might be bit tighter as he has to call BB shove with everything but on other hand BB is short enough that he can still call easily with wide range and yet deep enough to assume decent fold equity pre. I could call pre but if BB shoves then CO might iso shove widish assuming I will fold almost always and AJs is really not hand I want to stack pre. So I chose to use hand as 3bet-fold.

Flop gets 3way with almost empty side pot. We can argue of just checking and hoping for showdown. But I also do have backdoor flush draw so I think small cbet make sense with idea to shove if turn is spade. I also have more overpairs here and villain should heavily miss this flop.

Turn is blank and I just thought to give up.

River is sort of interesting as it will work as bit of scare card for mid pockets and I could still have big pockets some portion of time in my range or AQ. Villain will occasionally have AQ or KhQh, QhJh type hand. So it might have been spewy to make river shove here. But I think I will get good amount of credit overall as it was almost empty side pot in first place.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another hand was in HU versus reg.

SB: 15bb
BB, hero: 30bb

K♠:8♣:

SB limp, Hero check

Flop(2bb) A♠:5♦:7♠:
Hero check, SB bets 1bb, Hero call

Turn (4bb) 9♥:
Hero check, SB check

River(4bb) 8♦:
Hero check, SB bets 2.5bb, Hero raise to 8bb

So this reg uses lot of limping in HU and does it with pretty well balanced range imo. So definitely just checking mediocre Kx pre.

Flop is pretty ok with backdoor flush draw, straight draw and K high. Mandatory call.

Turn would have been nasty to continue but it goes checked.

In river I have some showdown value and I do beat portion of villain flop value bet range like 7x or possibly 5x. So no need to turn hand into bluff. Then villain bets and I think he might sometimes have even weak Ax here but definitely lot of two pairs. Plus some bluffs also. Imo good thing of this hand as bluff is that we dont beat any value hand and we block some of two pair combos. So it should be better one to bluff than some 5x or 7x. In HU its basically impossible to be blocking 6x combos by having 5 or 7 in a way as ranges are so wide that only 6x combos villain would not play would be like weakest 6xo.

Good side in river play is that I can also rep good amount of 6x. I would have 64, 65, 67, 68, 69, K6 (some), Qs6x and some 6sXs. Thing is that I dont like to check-raise much at all on these Axx boards when we are 15bb deep as I would shove or raise most of Ax. Meaning that what value range would I rep? 57 only? Funny side is that I would use some of 57 combos also for light small raise pre to balance some strong hands. But anyway that was just minor side note.

Had two similar hands in recent sessions in relatively dry flops so though to post about them.

So first one was in bubble with 3 players.

BU: 8bb
SB: 30bb
BB, Hero: 24bb

Hand KJo

Preflop: BU fold, SB minraises, Hero call

Flop (4bb) JJ5r
SB bets 2bb, Hero raise to 5bb, SB 3bet to 10bb, Hero?

So in this sort of stack setup I will tighten somewhat my preflop defend range in direct bubble. Simply because playing hands that rarely hit strong is nasty when SB can put lot of ICM pressure postflop. Still villain line to use minraise is pretty crappy as I get such great pot odds to call from position.

Flop is dry one. I will have lot of Jx (preflop wise) but when there are two on flop its obviously pretty unlikely to still have one. Also some 5x but not that many. Some A5, K5, Q5s, J5s, 85s, 75s, 65s, 54s. So if I call flop cbet I will have stuff like Ax, some pockets, few Jx and few 5x. Maybe some KTs, QTs. Villain might continue to barrel but quite often people will shutdown without getting some solid draw.

So what I occasionally like to do is raise small. Its plausible to raise as semibluff with some 76s or QTs or T9s with backdoor flush draw as balance. But depending of opponent I might have very very few bluffs to be honest. Thing is that many players wont raise their really strong hands like Jx or 55 in these spots as they hope for opponent to hit something. So when I do make raise versus active opponent in this sort of flop it will likely raise some eyebrows like "really you hit trips??". Which could result in float calls or light 3bets.

So I raised small and villain makes 2x 3bet. Now there are basically two options and both of them will look strong. I could click it back again with 4bet basically saying "I dont believe you have anything either" hoping that villain shoves over. But thats probably rarely happening. Other option is to just call and hope villain continues on turn or river.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Second one was in 4handed and I were preflop aggressor.

CO: 8bb
BU: 25bb
SB: 7bb
BB, Hero: 40bb

Hand AQo

Preflop: CO fold, BU minraise, SB fold, Hero raise to 6bb, BU call

Flop (13bb) 899r
Hero bets 4bb, BU raises to 8bb, Hero?

So in this hand BU is sort of fish reg and he actually often slowplays strong hits and makes some weird plays in general. So pretty standard 3bet preflop for value though I would have probably folded to 4bet. We get into pretty dry flop and I went for small cbet. BU makes pretty quick minraise. So we had 19bb effectives on flop. This is sort of similar flop spot from other point of view compared to first hand. Exception is that BU should be even less likely to have 9x than me having Jx in first one. Also I had reads on this guy that made his range more bluff heavy. I decided to shove over remaining 15bb to try and take down 25bb already in pot.

I could also call but villain might have alive cards and I really dont want to end up in spot where I lose whole stack to some turned or rivered top pair. I might induce further bluff with that line though. Also bad side of shoving is obviously that I could be drawing dead and I shutdown villain bluffs. Well I suppose he could have like JTs or some TT that I am ahead or have 6 outs against. But overall I just didnt believe him enough to give up and thought taking risk with shove was better option.

Frustrating session today. Start went nicely in sng and one mtt I started. Then last 2/3 of session shit run started where no draw improve and winning preflop allin was miracle.

MTT went nicely into money but last hand was pretty frustrating. Opened J8s from HJ (tight table overall), SB call and BB call. Flop comes 643 with my flush draw, went for half pot cbet and more worried of BB having strong hand than SB. SB call and BB fold.

Turn was A not giving me flush. Basically SB should not have too many Ax unless it's with flush draw so decided to double barrel with committing sizing. Villain shoves and I won't improve. Well he may that have set occasionally but any other pocket should be folding and some stronger flush draws as well. If he has nut flush draw then I am obviously screwed.

Villain has AJ without any flush potential. So he called 3way flop cbet with dry A high with BB behind left to act. Manages to get one of two good Ax that are likely only cards I am going to double barrel and he can continue (and be ahead). Unless he was planning to calldown with A high...

PS: Would really be nice to get EV data from sng games. In have feeling this year run so far might be one of my worst below EV buyin wise.

Pretty standard hand from today but lets give bit of options.

Close to start of sng. Villain seems to be reggy but no particular reads.

SB: 1000
BB: 2400

If someone has opinions for above feel free to post them.

Yesterday had another hand where one can say I were very lucky and unlucky. Referring to Tuesday variance stream :)

It was HU phase around 24bb deep. Villain minraise and I have 96o in BB. Pretty clear defend versus 2x. Not awesome hand obviously but too connected and high cards to fold.

Flop comes T96r and I were planning for check-raise but BU didn't comply. So my plan changes into leading most turns at this point. Only ones I would not be leading most of time are 7, 8 and A. First ones make straight more likely making bet turn and river lot thinner line and last one simply hits villain range so much stronger that I don't want to lead anything versus reggy player. Well I suppose also T is bit nasty partially killing my hand but it would still be pretty reasonable value hand.

Well turn come A. I don't remember if it opened flush draw though. Anyway as I explained above this is card to check and see if villain goes for delayed cbet. He can have lot of Ax but he can also represent Ax with some air like 54, Q8 or whatever. So by checking I allow him to make some moves. He did cbet 2bb and I went for 6bb check-raise. This is not such bad spot to bluff rarely as if I do check flop and turn most of time my range is decently uncapped postflop wise. Another question though is if villain is able to fold any Ax or how many he should be anyway.

Villain call and river is Q. I go for pot size value shove and villain snaps with AQo. So I suppose we can say I were really lucky to flop two pair (happens roughly 2% of time), also lucky for villain to hit top pair that I can get lot of value against. Though A high might have decided to call at least one street anyway. But unlucky for villain to hit better two pair in river. Also perfect suck out card because let's say that river is A or T. At that point I would only have bluff catcher that I might have just check-folded as villain so often has Ax. Rarely check-call as bluff catch.

About the AQo from 13th
I like cheking back here cuz i dont wanna see check shove tbh. Will be hard spot for me to call off then.
Vs a fish i would value bet tho.
Will be calling most of bets here tho cuz we block the SD and we block the weheel , we hold the Qd there is a few conector diamonds but i see only bluffs coming with the A on a FD texture tbh:f_biggrin: :f_biggrin:....
So on smaller sized donk bets I will sometimes shove as well for protection.
Id fold to shove tho and check raise too.
A: -check back
B :50% or less - shove
C - call
D- fold
E -fold
Thats how Id play it lol......What happened tho ?
My guess He shoved u called and he showed a Tx hand :f_cool:

Well, i would bet 30% as an protect bet and if he checks/push i would insta fold and just move on. By doing it u still gonna get some value from his Tx maybe even from some pocket pairs(those fuckers can't fold pocket pairs, dunno why). But yeah overall u don't beat much, so yeah 30% protect bet would be good enough for me in this spot.

Seems like some sort of filtering happened here. Well anyway for AQ hand.

A: It's pretty close between check and small bet versus decent player. Versus recreational I would bet most of time as they have hard time to fold any Ax and sizing wise versus them we can usually go bit bigger.

Versus regs you want to be bit careful with the ranges because if we decide to bet it has to be small sizing when flush draw complete. That is after all main semi bluffs I have here. Won't have 54s from this position. So only air on this river for me will be some broadways with gutshot. Hand like KdJx is great for triple barrel bluff aiming to get Ax to fold mainly.

But tricky part is that even small value bet is thin as if villain start folding weaker Ax we are quite easily making -ev play. Also as I mentioned versus some opponents you want to think how to form those ranges. E.g. do we have two sizings on river? Do we have any flushes in small bet range? I would say answer should be yes to both. If small bet range only has thin value bets combined with occasional bluff it will be very vulnerable to check-shove.

B: Might even call without diamond for pretty good price. I don't think raising make too much sense. Basically I might turn hand into bluff versus bigger sizing if stacks were deeper. But it would be pretty ballsy bluff to make big shove after villain donk bets flush completing river on this board. Basically saying I have big flush.

C: As sizing increase flush blocker value will go higher as villain range polarizes even more. So I would fold without diamond for sure but with it we are blocking flushes and stuff like AJ so this is very reasonable bluff catcher.

D: Sort of same as C. Basically versus shove calling hand with flush blocker is likely better than calling AA as villain is saying he has flush. But I would have folded without good reads. I will still have flushes of my own here decent amount so no need to go wider than that versus over shove.

E: Same as above that hand is reasonable bluff catcher but depending how we form those betting range(s) we can fold or call this imo.

Villain had some KsTx here which is ok hand to call flop and turn but should be just check-fold on river. He decided to donk bet half pot probably hoping for some Ax to fold. Might have worked without having diamond on my hand.

Pretty nasty hand from today. So so many things went just awesome for villain. So it was 5handed and I open raised 2.5bb from button with QJo. Villain 3bet from BB and I would tend to fold offsuit but villain sizing was so small like 6.5bb or something that made call mandatory.

Flop comes Qc3d7h, BB cbet like 1/3 of pot which I call. Turn comes Jh, villain check and I bet 60%. Villain call and river comes 7s. We have pot size behind and villain check and decided to value shove. Not greatest river as I do lose to JJ+ and perhaps some 7x. But usually people don't play overpairs like this and 7x is rare. So there are often more of some AQ, KQ, AJ that are imo calling often enough. Also unknown villain so some weird calls can happen. Checkin would still be reasonable as well.

Well villain turns with AA so it's sort of funny how board came to be like that. If I didn't improve on turn I would have checked and villain was likely stacking off almost any river. Also river A would have been check. So pretty nasty runout.

Bit better month so far when compared to previous but still lot of space to improve.

One of those sessions today that quitting after first game would have been advisable. At least if I would believe in omens. First game or one of the first ones I get to HU. Get chips from villain postflop huge amounts but lose in total five preflop allins. Had three times dominating hand, once a flip and once 45% equity and lost all.

After that things didn't run much better and session ended with almost 400€ minus. Month still positive but seems like second real shitty one in row.

One hand from today. Open raised AKo from HJ, CO reg call and unknown BB call. Flop came AdKh7h, cbet flop and CO call. Turn was 9s, went for 3/4 pot bet and CO call. River was 3h and had like 80-90% pot behind. Versus most this would be no brain shove for me but versus ok reg I think it's close. But basically it's either shove or check-fold. I think afterwards that later option would have been better. It's quit tough for villain to have 2 pair combos and while some AxQh or AxJh or A9s can hero call there is probably bit too many flush and 77 combos.

Interesting hand from today short session. Its bubble with 3 players left.

Blinds 60/120

BU: 1750
SB: 3620
BB, Hero: 4400

Hand 5♥:6♥:

Preflop: BU raise to 240, SB fold, Hero call

Flop (540) A♥:J♦:4♥:
Hero check, BU bets 180, Hero call

Turn (900) J♠:
Hero?

So we are like 14bb deep preflop making this easy preflop defend. Shoving would not be bad either as occasional light 3bet. Nice part is that if villain has like big Ax we have still 40% equity and not most horrible suck out hand versus pocket pairs. But I went with call. Flop comes AJ4 with my flush draw. I will have some Ax and Jx but BU obviously has big range advantage here meaning I dont really want to check-raise that much. Villain cbets small so I also have clearly profitable call.

Turn pairs mid pair and while BU can have some Jx I will definitely have more of them. Also my hand is preeetty surely behind currently but still has decent amount of outs. So by making small donk bet here (I used 300) I can achieve several good things:

1: I can create fold equity. Villain can easily have hands like Kx, Qx, 99 and such that could decide to give up without having much/any of solid outs if behind.

2: Villain is rarely shoving usually. At least thinking opponent as basically I am saying "hey I have trips here and I dont want you to check turn". So often I do get to realize my equity. If I check and villain bets half pot I cant really call and shove would tend to be spewy.

3: As side note I wont allow Ax to check back as they would decently often. This point though would have way more credit if stacks were deeper. Now having shoving range on river if turn goes checked is totally viable option.
