Fave chapter of the satellite book. We have a chapter on Mega Satellites (where more than 10 people win a seat) and I really enjoyed that because its the aspect of satellites I enjoy the most. In a mega satellite one of the key skills is keeping an eye on the lobby and monitoring where you are in relation to your opponents. I played a hand during the writing of the book where I was 23rd of 23 and 22 win a seat, I had 3BBs and it folded to me with KK on the button. This is a shove in most cases, but I could see on another table that if I just folded, the blinds were going up and another player who was also short was going to blind out before I did. Its really exciting creeping into the money with a couple of big blinds in a mega satellite.
So are you saying folding KK was correct play on that spot? Could you offer mathematics to support this if that is the case? My out of hat assumption would be that shoving KK will still be better as other short stack has too big chance to double up to give up this spot. Of course on other table people should be aiming to team play short stack BB out but different question if it will happen.
