(FR) 87s - defending vs limping range of a fish

I don't play FR, but i don't like this OR, 87s OOP it's not a good spot against that player.

Indeed you could consider just calling this pre-flop. You get a good chance to see a cheap flop and in case BB iso-raises it is not necessarily terrible for us.

After your iso-raise I might have made a small cbet OTF because limp/callers often play fit or fold and on this board I think it is quite likely that we can make him fold awfully lot with a small cbet. After you decide to check, I think folding is the best move.

Yeah, why not limping behind. 87s plays well multi-way, no need to build a pot OOP against a player who'll limp/call often I guess.

Even if you had connected, you would'nt value max OOP this kind of hand so indeed it's too LAG preflop.. As played, it means at least 2 barrels.. wich is spewy vs this maniac, best to merge vs him..

87s works well as hole cards which balance your ratio of bluff:value in starting range.
You can not expect to catch straight or flush with 87s too often. Do you remember at least one board where your 87s developed to straight or strong flush (only 3 cards in colour on board as fourth card with this colour would weaken value of this flush)? Which month it was? maybe 2018?
So you need to design few pure bluffing lines for 87s and each time choose one of this lines depends on factors such as tendencies of your opponent / board texture / your actual image / effective stack size / number of opponents involved etc. To tell your story convincingly and at the same time to don't bond your stack to the pot, you need to take initiative with around 10 to 20 % of your stack before villain make strong move postflop. It means that the size of your bet preflop was unnesesary high! Your raise to 3.5BB would be completely enough and it would decrease pot on the flop from 13BB to 8BB.

You completely missed this flop but there is high chance that your opponent also missed. You need to defend against small bet on flop much more often than you actually hit anything on the flop, otherwise your opponents will crush you with simple small flop betting!

Here is just one temple for you to use in the future:

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 7♠ 8♠
fold, fold, fold, fold, CO calls 1 BB, fold, Hero raises to 3.5 BB, fold, CO calls 2.5 BB

Flop: (8 BB, 2 players) 9♠ Q♦ 9♥
Hero checks, CO bets 5 BB, Hero calls

Turn: (18BB, 2 players) 9♠ Q♦ 9♥ one_tarot_card
Hero bets 9BB, CO folds

Hero invested 17.5BB to earn 9.5BB if villain thinks that only 9x, Qx, JT is strong enough to continue.
How often villain keeps 9x, Qx, JT? We could analyse but I do not need to count anything to say that this is much less than 40% of range which he uses to call preflop.

This is just one example how you can turn your 87s into winning cards.
