The villain is an unknown player.

I feel like I just clicked buttons in this hand...

How would you play this hand?

I guess I would just fold to the flop raise. This board hits your UTG range quite well but it also hits his as well. I expect him to have JJ, AT+ here very often or some flush draws like T9s, 89s which have good equity against you. If he is an unknown we can let the hand go. You basically rely just on hitting your gutshot and against an almost 4x raise and you being OOP it is just better if you fold. You are gonna have many better hands here to defend in your range. I like the small Cbet though because it puts pressure on the bottom of his range like pocket pairs or JT and it should work.

As played I am not sure about the river overbet. His check on the turn looks polarized to me. Either he has like nothing/a weak showdown value and is giving up or he might have hit the flush and goes tricky. Either way by overbetting river I think you only isolate yourself against flushes. I would go for a thin value bet of like 1/3-1/2 pot and fold to a raise. Or call a raise if the sizing would be small.

River play is easy because he is showing all manners of strength AJ/JJ/66 comes to mind and we beat all those hands but I didn't know if he would call a shove having checked back on turn. Flush is possible, yes, but we hold blockers to that so it is less likely a FD hitting, imo.

I was wondering if the correct play here is to shove turn or check/shove.

I felt like the turn card saved my hand here.

I myself wouldnt do neither. I am not saying it is a bad play, you can certainly represent flush but I am also not sure we can make sets fold often enough which would probably be the neccessary condition for this play to be profitable. The Qd gives you extra equity if he calls though so it might be profitable. Out of those 2 options check/shove would be better imho since it looks stronger.

But as the hand played out I dont think he is gonna have AJ and sets after he checked the turn. It would make sense for him to continue with betting for protection. You can have some Ax hands with Qd or Kd and you might have picked up extra equity on the turn.

MP mucks A♣ J♣ (Two Pair, Aces and Jacks)
(Pre 62%, Flop 81%, Turn 75%)
Hero wins 122.25 BB
That is what I thought. He might call all in because the line may seem FOS.

Hello im new to poker,
but isn´t it worth to call here on the flop because pot odds are 32.69% and the chance of hitting the straight is 31,5 % + you have a small chance to hit the flush with two backdoor diamonds.
Or should you have better pot odds ?
Edit: i thought you have 2 different ways to complete a Straight here, my bad

Yes, that is a good observation, and that is, Diamond card on turn could slow down the action to our advantage where we hit our outs on river Scott free.

Is that true? Anyone?

Edit: T is the money card though where as another Diamond is not.

Yes, that's a big mistake not to protect your range on this turn.

it would seem, you would need better pot odds for this hand but if you wanted to gamble then so be it. i would rather you have greater equity without a flush draw on board your outs are pretty slim. As a player sometimes we gain an intuition about certain spots, so although the ev wasnt positive, you won the hand

Ok I wouldnt expect him to have AJ. :f_ugly: You can take a note on him that he probably doesnt value bet enough and you can call draws against him even if you dont have proper odds because there is a possibility that you will get the next street for free.
Anyway his play is a big mistake imho. And the call of your overbet when everything possible got there ... :f_ugly:

Thats a good way thinking but the chance of 32% goes for and OESD and all the way from the flop to the river. For example if he had JQ on a KT2 board. So he can make his straight with both 9 and A thus increasing his chances with more outs. But here he only has a gutshot (only T makes his straight) which has a probability of being completed only 17% from flop to river and only 8,7% from flop to turn. And pot odds are calculated over one street so you dont have good enough pot odds to call. And being out of position as well I would prefer fold.

And backdoor flush draw is only extra 4% so you cant rely on that either. Backdoor draws are a good extra equity for you as a preflop aggressor if you want to bluff postflop multiple streets. But for calling out of position they are basically worthless.

4 outs = 16% chance of hitting the straight and that's the odds for seeing both turn and river and one of those outs might not be any good.

I love it as played. You have the Q of diamonds for a backdoor draw and you got tons of implied odds even OOP.

As we can see villian chickens out on the turn. You hit a magic river and i love the huge bet. WP.

Please put a note on this guys to never bluff him as he is obviously calling even when the two obvious draws got there. And also he is raising made hands on the flop with ppl still to act behind him.

Thanks, I made some notes on him now. I only have 4 hands on him. He might be a recreational player.
