you have any stats on villian?, whats his pfr and cbet % and agression?

Personally I would raise/fold flop here to see where I am, either he goes over top with bigger PP and I fold or he calls hoping to hit one of his 2 overcards but will at least slow him down and can probably get to showdown without any more betting.

If he does check the turn I may put in a small donk block bet on the river if he is fairly agressive, my thinking here is that my aim is to get to showdown as cheaply as possibly and my bet will be cheaper than his river bluff bet.

I don't mind betting the eights on this flop, but I think I bet the turn again, don't want free cards. If I ever check, it is with the intention of check raising.

River is a clear fold I think, you are at best spiltting the pot, you can expect to be beaten a fair amount of the time.

b/f on turn vs bigger r is standard,

... as played on river: i am calling here for split, /its very unlikely he has 89 for oesd on flop bcs there is only one 8 left, given hes not excessively maniacish he can only have 79 reasonably played this way that really beats us..

but our line looks so weak, his agr is good, so he can abuse this ofc, thats other thing why we should have bet the turn also ofc. He can easily put us on any 2 pair combination, which are a ton there.. and he himself has the same huuge amount of time, or 5x which got counterfeited on the river.

as there is only 79, and only one single 8 left for 89 and massive 2pair + similar on the board and he seems reasonable, i am calling. --> i dont want to calculate all the combos here, but we need 1 to call for 2 with a split so we need to believe him he has str8 16.6% of times.. I am pretty convinced with wts + agr he is not going to have st8 more than 10% there, which makes it +ev call.

if he was passive, fold might be preferable though.

well I expect to see 9T alot here, and the pattern bet turn, bet big river when called is usually the nuts...

but you're right he might do that often enough with two pairs for us to call for the split
