Again vs unknown, how did I play this?

I used to always 4bet this in the past, but these people only continue with [ AKo, AKs, QQ+ ], maybe they call JJ, so I don't know if that is profitable vs their 3bet range.

Should I have called the flop? If so, and then?

I put him on Queens a lot, but he showed something unexpected lol. (Guess not queens).

its better to flat, as the 3betting ranges are not wide enough to get it in.

C, C, C ist standard, but it is fine to R w a small percentage.

pls dont do that. this is a recipe for desaster. give him a range and play accordingly.

Well, to be fair I put him on larger range, but still a small one. On the river I thought he had [AK, JJ+, and sometimes TT]. But because of the board and my holecards I thought QQ is the most likely.

But ... is this range realistic (on the river) I want to ask: [AK, JJ+, and sometimes TT]
Or is this too narrow a range?

no, thats the disadvantage of raising the flop: you have driven out all the bluffs. thats a pitty as the board is very favorable for the 3-bettor, so he has a lot of incentive to multi barrel.

i would add some more nutcombos though. mainly A5s and some 65s. oh, and KQs and KJs.

PS: how do you construct your own rasing range OTF ?

Yes very good point!!

I think about others peoples ranges, but not my own ranges. I don't play my range (yet). Although sometimes I guess I do, but that is more coincedentally (For example when I think this hits my preflop range so hard, I just have nothing this time, but maybe I should represent..).

I don't construct any range, just playing my hand and the situation while being aware (or trying to be) of what my perceived range looks like.

I guess I am kind of aware of my range, but only broadly, and not in much detail all.

Are my opponents at $5nl thinking in these terms and ahead of me?

Hmm I guess I should raise nothing on this flop? Any hand I would want to raise I can raise later on as well. And indeed keeps his bluffs in is a big one as they can double barrel turn if they pick up equity or some other reason...

So: First range I constructed: [ ].
Nothing?

I wonder what my calling range should look like

Actually given preflop action I can only have AA sometimes, KK sometimes, QQ, JJ, AK, AQ perhaps.
But If they 3bet me while I open UTG, I usually 4bet AA, KK, and QQ most of the time because their range should be stronger than when I open in LP.
So that leaves a calling range of AK, QQ and JJ I guess.

you are IP, so your flatting range should be much wider.

I like a flop call, villain can have, AA,KK in his range and if we raise it makes it easier for him to fold QQ,JJ,TT. We dont need to “protect” our hand very much , the board is not wet. I would keep his bluffs in and weaker range by calling flop.

Edit. This is an unbaised answer. I just looked at the spoilers after because I seen you were talking about different street play

In the sense of pocket pairs, suited connectors? Also more suited broadway hands that can be dominated?

Good analysis!
It's pretty goofy to raise this :f_confused:

we have established, that raising the c-bet applies a lot of pressure to TPWK, second pair and air. so there is nothing wrong w having a small raising range.

i suggest raising AKs, AQs, 65s and 76s.

preflop :

yellow = cawl.

Now I am lost ... I don't want to put pressure in this case do I?

its is a double edged sword. you want folds w AQs and 76s and w 65s you certainly dont.

green is 4bet and number is 4bet frequency.

suited connectors /gappers have very good playability and your pairs are not dominated.

Why do you want to put a-lot of pressure on top pair weak kicker? We want to extract max value from those hands and keep them in. It Would be a disaster to have those fold. You almost never want a raising range when your opponent has the range and nut advantage.
