I don`t know if it is rigged or not. I only have one question and I hope some one here can explain how it works. If you sit at a ten seat table and you have your preferred seat, what happens to the other nine and their preferred seating if they have one? Somewhere during a large tournament, ther must be a seating conflict, yet in all the ones I have been in I`m sitting in my chosen seat. Today the player across from me said he could not tell what the person seated next to me was wearing. Strange

There are complicated algorithms, hard to develop to cope with this seating problem. And that is the reason why rake is payd. Poker rooms has to pay extreme money to those developers of non conflicting seating algorithms _mad:

I dont see anything complicated there .. Preffered seating is just what you see on your PC, so the soft just "rotates" the whole table on your screen so you sit where you like .. The relative position of others does not change .. That happens on all the screens, so it is possible for 2 players seeing themselves on the same seat, no problem ..

LOL, yeah of course. No need for an algoritm. Why do people think too hard?

I was joking ... is not that clear? _mad:

You play Double or nothing on the bubble (6 players left) and the guy UTG has 100 chips (he will be the BB next hand) .. I think it is absolutely right to fold the hand there, as even if you double up, the chips you won will have no value ..
-> In standard SnGs however I cannot imagine a situation when folding AA preflop could be correct (however I could be wrong)
-> About the "if you have that feeling" - Please FORGET about all "feels" in poker, everyone who says is a "feel guy" is probably a fool, there is no change you can predict the cards that will fall (unless you are some kind of a prophet) .. So yes -> if you feel you will loose all the time, you will be right 19% of the time all in AA vs 99 ..
Just play according to the math, thats it

Very nice _grin:

If we have standard 50-30-20 payout you would need to have more than 60% to win to go all-in profitably, as if you fold you have 100% for the 2nd price which is 30% (I did not count some crazy splits or your chance to win with 9:1 underdog in chips), if you have more than 60% chance to win you should call, but there is no chance of getting that even against 5 oponents I think, so that would be a very profitable preflop AA fold :f_grin:

So will you explain to me how you appear to be sitting in your prefered seat and still have real position against some other player who thinks he`s in his preferred seat when you say you don`t have to be in your real seat and the other player doesn`t have to be in his real seat. You can`t have real position without real seating position.

OP:

1) cash out $50
2) buy a joint
3) chill the f*** out

And there is proof poker is rigged, COs random cards are shit while MP2 gets heaps better cards. Lesson here people is to always play random cards in MP2.

Try to sit in the cash game, click right button over seat of another player and press "put me here". And just see what is happening.

Yes the program will move you to whatever seat you ask for but that doesn`t answer the question about real position when you don`t have real seating position. So if the player who you think is three seats to my right and almost facing me can`t see the player`s face beside me to my left, where is that player really seated and if he is not three to my right ,how come I play two moves after him??

Online poker is definately rigged imo.

There's nothing unusual about premium hands (AA, KK, QQ, etc) being beaten by flushes, straights, 3 0f a kind, etc. But when it starts happening in 80% - 90% of the times these premium hole cards are dealt (as in my case) then something is seriously wrong.

These hands should be winning approx. 50% of the time - not losing 90% of the time!

so why do you play online???

If you think online poker is rigged..simply,stop playing it..

Thanks for your explanation of how it all works ... great insight lol

Seating is not relavent at all.

It's not a difficult concept to understand really...

If you can't understand how the poker table seats you I have to fear for you understanding the odds of playing poker.

Anyhow -

Picture it this way, you in seat 1, the button is on you. Players to your left are SB BB.

Now, you click on seat two and click "sit here". You avatar moves, the players to your left are moved to seat three, and four.

You are STILL on the button, and the SB and BB are still ahead of you, and are the same players.

You move to Seat three, exactly the same scenario.

You move to Seat Eight, exactly the same scenario.

The table just rotates the players around for your personal preference. It makes no difference to your sitting location at all.

The easiest way to understand the seating problem is to think of it in terms of everyone sitting around your kitchen table.

Everyone is seated in a certain position relative to one another at the beginning of the game.

Now you prefer to sit elsewhere at this table - so the seat closer to the oven. Everyone holds hands - gets up - and rotates around the table and sits down once you reached the seat you wanted. They then sit back down and let go of each others hands. Everyone is still in the same relative position to each other.

Since online you aren't sitting around the kitchen table - the poker room can let everyone perceive the game from the seat that they prefer. It doesn't matter if everyone else is watching from the same seat. All that is important is that the relative position to one another is kept the same.

You don't 'switch' seats - but just rotate around that table :)

We play live poker with usually around 7 people every week (with good equipment and clear & proper rules).

I've seen the craziest stuff happen in not that many hands (live goes more slow imo).

Poker is just crazy. No one needs to program it to make it crazy. It already is.

Play more live poker and you will see it's not different from online.

No need to get nasty, it was a simple question about how REAL position is maintained when your seating position is VIRTUAL. I quite grasp the musical chairs scenario that everyone is thinking is the answer. But the question is , what is real and what is not? You can`t mix pretend and reality without having some of each at best. So at worst you would have what?? At best you would have all pretend or all real?? It`s not a question about how the seating works, it`s a question of how the position of the players is maintained when everone at the table could be thinking they are all sitting at seat one.
If you can`t answer the question that was asked, maybe your odds are off.LOL
