Hello guys, first time poster and new to the beautiful game of PLO, transitioning from NLH after 18 years playing MTTs and a few years ago mid-highstakes BB ante cashgames until they were botted to shit.

I want to use this thread to ask base fundamental questions which I think I am making mistakes, and other new aspiring PLOers can follow as well

Here goes:

In game I recognised that this was a fairly good board for my range and a medium frequency/medium sizing cbet flop. We have all the premium $ds rundowns as well, where BTN's range is generally wide and trashy, and T985ds is a good bluff candidate with potential to improve - although a pip too wide preflop.

When we get raised I assumed his range to be 2p+ and was worried about being dominated by better rundowns - had a brainfart and folded.

But PPT shows that T985ds has:
-Almost 38% vs naked 2p+
- Almost 44% vs KQJ,KJT,QJT,JT9 to my surprise.

And when being faced with the BTN flop raise SPR is 1.1 needing about 33% equity to stackoff, making this fold a mistake.

Is this correct?

What would be the minimum hand to stackoff?

Thanks for your input.

Preflop is indeed too wide with two gapper. We should be very selective about connectivity with these medium/low high rundowns. Ultimately 3bet game is about domination and T high rarely dominates anything. I would advice to check how close or far away it is from 3bet with plotrainer or similar tool.

Flop is kinda neutral for both. Sure we have some nice ds (or even ss) rundowns but so does opponent. People are unlikely to 4bet closely enough of those non AA hands. This flop is fairly connected so lot of those trashy hands also connect to some reasonable fashion like pair+sd.

As played not sure of flop. Bet-fold or bet-stack off feel awkward so I would lean toward x-evaluate. If betting I would prefer to just pot-stack off if we want to use different sizings.

Our two bdfd does help quite a lot for those equities as one of those account for 4% extra equity. I think this is one of weakest combos we can stack off here.

Btw good example hand of importance of connectivity. With T986ds we could not do too much wrong on flop as long as we don't fold.

Especially at lower stakes no one really folds to 3bets preflop. That's one difference from HE and MTT, in PLO we don't ever do bluff 3bets.

I think this SBvsBU 3bet spot is one of few ones where we maybe get close to solver amount of folds? E.g. in high rake sim BU is supposed to fold roughly 20%. In low rake it will get to 10-15% I would guess.

And in GG R&C there are players who actually fold to 3bets. On other networks, there are tons of players who have 0% fold to 3bet.

Yes I'm learning the hard way - a good example of the importance of hand connectivity preflop and might need to go with it with that particular combo.

Facing a lag in the BB who has 30+ vpip and is wide pre. I recognise this flop to be a low cbet freq/large bet board.

Although I looked at it through flophero and it was 'standard' to raise and stack turn, I wonder if at smallstakes, players XR and bluff enough on the turn with JT98 type hands. If not then this is an exploit fold?

Punted this right off playing deep where flop we should x most bottom sets.

IF we were playing 100bb, solver likes to bet and stack, but can we exploitably fold if we know population under raises 1p+ bluffs?

I would recommend to post one hand per topic. This gets very messy quickly with people potentially not sure what hand is being talked of.

AT98 we can cbet flop though without bdfd I would lean toward check. Turn is standard fold to me. Even in solver land it has to be very borderline. Opponent also does raise pot in flop and likely in sim that size is bit smaller. But yeah on turn to shove we need 40% equity for SPR 2 spot if we assume no fe. In theory opponent can have occasional bet-fold with some blocker based hand like 988J perhaps but in reality I would assume no fe. So getting 40% is just not going to happen.

5533ds I wonder how close this is between call and 3bet. 100bb deep 3bet is fine but in general we want to tighten OOP 3bets somewhat with 200bb. Big difference though is as you mention that 100bb deep we are often happy to stack off dry bottom set but with 200bb not as often. In this flop KK is indeed massive concern so when facing raise I think fold is not absurd by any means. I think low equity bluffs are non existent. We might be versus some dryish K6 combos but that is iffy assumption. But every KK can be raising. Also 66 with sd is plausible to raise. Obviously 987x type wraps is possible but also these hands dont necessarily raise either. Thing is usually when stacks get deeper many players tend to get overly careful so KK portion of flop raise can be very dominant. Which make fold very reasonable. If we assume this to be the case then bet-folding flop is not actually that bad option. Of course another issue of the hand is that good amount of runouts are actually not that good for our hand. Even if turn is not completing straight there is sort of nasty possibilities with cards like Q, J, T as well. Because lets say turn is T after we cbet and get called. Well now what rivers are not completing some straight? Those are only pairing rivers. Now of course some are bit better like 3 or 2 but any other does complete veryreasonable straight. Not even mentioning potential bd flush.

But yeah I would not assume raise-folds on flop but there are definitely players that overvalue two pair or pair+oesd type hands.

The AT98ss hand in solver land, against blocker bluffs like JT98 or J988 as you say, i think we have 70% equity if irc, but in reality I don't think this happens. Nice to get confirmation that you fold as I later suspected but wasn't sure.

5533ds 200bb using flophero ranges is a pure 3b in both high rake/no rake environments.
