swings @ 2/4 :
100BB / session
250-350 BB over the long run

September:

I'm tired of losing. I'll play 800 more hands this month to keep silver status on pokerstars. All the other poker time this month will go to studying videos and articles.

edit: I'm especially fed up with marginal situations. e.g. I'm HU on the flop with T9s on the flop. Villain c/r flop. I fold turn. This happens 100 times in a row. And every time I decide to play back I lose at showdown anyway cause apparantly he rivers his backdoor straight or flopped bottom pair. I need to become better at playing vs the regs.

I don' t know what to do. Go back to 1/2 or just keep on playing 2/4 ? I still have around 600BB for 2/4 so the bankroll is okay.

I keep telling myself a large part of it is variance, but fuck... it's frustrating losing 30BB every day. Then the same the day after. And again and again. I don't remember what a winning day feels like.

Hello darthbobo.

$2/4 is really a big step to walk up. You should continue your way.

As a clue, here are my 1st hands at $2/4 :

As you can see, it began with a 400BB loss...

Wow!! I feel much better now

Today the following happened.

A LAG 38/27 raised MP2. I called in the SB with A♠T♠. I guess I should 3bet it but whatever. Flop comes K♥Q♠J♠. Cool a straight and also outs for a flush! Turn is a blank. I play call flop raise turn. He 3bets. I cap cause I have the nuts. River pairs the board! I bet and he raises me. I'm thinking about 3betting but I'm not sure. He may have the fullhouse. With what could he raise the river against my turn cap!? I'm convinced he has it and I call.

It looks like I was right... he shows a fullhouse. Then I see the pot is shipped to me. You can guess what I had. He says nh. I say nothing. :f_frown:

So far I've had 9 straight flushes in my life. Three of them were ace high.

I have to vent!

Today I had a maniac on my left with following stats:
92/24
AF 1.9
WTSD 61
W$SD 48%
donkbet flop: 48%
CB flop: 100%
CB turn: 100%

I lost 15 BB to him! He hit 2pair with 42o once against my TPTK. Another 2pair against a hand I don't remember.

KJo on a K75 flop is no good! Best is not to check/raise/cap the turn with it.

The only thing positive was that I busted his last 3 dollars.

Needless to say... he was from France.
And this post makes me feel MUCH better.

btw we plated for 110 hands on a 6max table.

There goes my Platinum status in an hour *snif* ;(

+1 :P
Back to bronze

lol I didn't expect you both to drop back to bronze
Isn't it tempting to know you can be silver with just one day of play?

My session of today was very funny. I kept getting coolered and rivered. And then for one minute.... I felt what it's like to be a Yoghi. So I'm done for the month. I haven't had a winning month for some time now. So maybe I should quit while ahead?

Mostly thanks to this baby :)
102$ pot in which I won 62$ _biggrin:. Strange cause usually I'm the one losing the big pots.

Can you post the losing hand?

Sure.
I'm not sure about the turn donk but I don't think it matters much in that spot anyway.

Uf, 41 BB pot. :f_ugly:

I know you play on much higher level than me so I can't discuss this hand nad probably that's the reason why my mediocre FL knowledge would save me quite some money here. I wouldn't be 3betting flop and would probably get the hell out of the pot when the turn raising party would begin.

Still, seems you got nice first 800 hand, you know there's many ups like this waiting for you. :f_p:

hehe thanks for the encouragement.

You can cap a flushdraw for value on the flop with just 2 opponents. If I'm correct it's a gold article.

Folding the turn is a big mistake here cause I have the nut flushdraw. If a spade comes the pot is always mine (except for the 2♠).

Could be, I haven't read much gold articles yet. :f_confused:

But if I'm correct, there's a bit more than 2 opponents on this flop...

more is better _biggrin:

It's a silver article. capping for value i think is only profitable when you're sure everyone will call. Well, here i guess you can assume it
