I am just wondering if this type of software is something we should really use or is it just something which isn't that important. I don't think stats in stud games would be that great and I don't even know if it displays stats?
The only useful thing would be looking at which hands are profitable and keeping your progress in a database. Which you wouldn't need without a large sample size.
No, it definitely isn't. I'm not even sure what it's real use really is, beyond tracking your own results. It's an issue of debate what kind of stats would be useful for stud anyway, since the decisions involved usually are a lot more complex, and different, than trying to fight against hand ranges or trying to see if your contibets work.

I was looking into it because I mostly play 7 card stud and I haven't got it yet because there isn't a HUD.....

No no.. I mean, i need some software to review my sessions.
Doing graphs, that sort of thing.
PT Stud has a built in hand replayer, useful for reviewing. There's a few free plug-ins for graphs. I used the trial when I was playing lots of mixed games. After looking at my stats I decided I should stay away from the stud8 and razz for now. 
The card tracker for the stud hud mentioned above has not worked since the big update to Full Tilt and it's not working on Stars either.
Do you know some free programs to summary my sessions? I mean my stats, and graphs.
Free poker database (fpdb.sourceforge.net) is an opensource, but quite alpha, pokertracker which should work at least over stars.
