Put up a hell of a fight but.
Okay. MTTs officially suck.
I just bubbled in a 500 player depositors freeroll MTT paying 2 seats to the ECOOP main event. Twice on the final table I had a 2:1 chip lead.
Made two dumbass plays, neither of which cost me the lead, but brought me back to the pack.
Made one probably dodgy call four handed getting 3:1 pot odds with J9o after attempting a steal on the BU. SB had been shoving a lot so I figured a call was okay, on reflection I probably was better folding. BU shows AKo and for once it holds. Oh well.
Got sucked out on once four handed AKs v A7o when a 7 flopped.
Three handed, I'm the short stack UTG and fold, big stack raises, middle stack shoves, big stack calls.
MS = ATo
BS = KJo
Board plays out: Kxx J guess what.
Forty outs from a $1500 buy in. 
And FWIW after a couple of steals, and with only 3/5 of the middle stack I Bet/Shove with A7s v K9o. K flops. GG.
Talk about bolloxing things up. Dammit.:f_mad:

I'm not sure how to make this post title sound more like "Weekend at Bernie's" so this will have to do.
Finally knocked off the points need to make Elite status at Mansion so that my points next month have some value. Yay.
Finally had some fishiness at the tables (love the weekends!!) so table selection was relatively easy (ie two plus tables at $.50/$1 SH 40% VPIP and more!) - ran horribly - ofc - and dropped 65BB. Yay.
Just withdrew all but some donkfest fun money at Titan and enough from Mansion to max out the FTP $600 first deposit bonus. YAY!!!
So the plan from here:
i. Play at FTP for December.
The primary focus for this month won't be clearing the bonus, although I should still get an okay number of hands in and clear a decent amount (hopefully). I haven't been offered rakeback yet, which means that I'll only play there while the FDB is in effect, then I'm whoring myself off to other sites (iPoker sites will have to wait a month or two). (or three).
If the RB comes in then I'll reassess based on how I'm feeling, how much time I have available, what my motivation is.
ii. Improve my focus on study.
November has probably been my most effective and dedicated study month since maybe December 08 /January 09. I intend to continue to improve my focus here as (as always). It still beggars belief that after 14 months here at PS.com I still haven't properly completed reading all the articles and don't yet have a flawless pre flop game. Addiction is a terrible flaw.
December will be the month my pre flop game gets off the training wheels. I'll update this stuff in PT3: TSFV as I go.
iii. Move my attitude closer to that of a professional.
I think this should form part of every part of my life TBH, but more than anything I am going to apply it to my poker game.
One of the great New Zealanders, Sir Peter Blake, ran a successful challenge and then a successful defence for an incredibly difficult to win yachting competition, the Americas Cup. One of the reasons they won and retained the cup was an overwhelming and relentless obsession with their decision making.
That obsession was: every decision made, no matter to which discipline the decision related (ie sailing, administration, support, fabrication, whatever), would be judged based on whether it would make the boat go faster.
Sometimes we get sidetracked with things: winrates, real life, blogging, hand targets, etc. Whatever the discipline is, when we are in poker mode, we must question whether what we are doing is +EV. Once we are in the habit of making +EV decisions, the next question must be is what we are doing the most +EV.
So, I in an effort to improve my professional focus, I will attempt to plan each week to achieve the most +EV decsion for my game. I know already I will fail to properly achieve this - the most +EV decision for me is to do nothing but study for the whole month! Still, the idea is to continually improve, and making this post is a move forward... each move forward makes the boat go faster.

PS. NZ wins at test cricket. All Blacks are again the number one rugby team in the world and play their best game all year to destroy Les Blues in Marseilles. Can we shift the Baabaas game and play South Africa at Twickenham this weekend? Please?!

November 2009 represents the anniversary month of when I first started taking FLSH semi seriously. Not much of a celebration unfortunately, although getting $350 in bribe offers helps ease the pain.

After fighting with MSPaint for a little I won't post stats. Interesting details from $.50/$1 are:

Fold BB to steal: 40.3
Fold to 3B: 42.3
So issues as I see it are:
I'm a showdown monkey still, although I'm still winning a pretty decent proportion of my showdowns. I improved on my selectiveness in showing down toward the end of the month as it started off around 42%. Of course I was winning a lot during this period so.. meh...
AF seems a little low, I'd like it over 2.0. I think I became too passive with my draws, looking to check/call, check/raise OOP a little too often and missing value. As a result I was not check/raising the flop enough. Tilt I guess.
Fold BB to steal stat is really low. This is a result of mucking around with equity in pots with one raiser/one caller when playing from the BB. I was playing some hands too loose here, using a tight raising, loose calling range where the more likely calling range was tighter. I adjusted the range to only pick up TAG raising, TAG calling range, only loosening where the caller was definitely calling a wide range.
FYI here are the ranges:
TAG MP2 raiser, Loose/Passive caller range [66-22, A9s-A5s, KJs-K9s, Q9s+, J9s+, T8s+, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, 54s, KQo, QJo, JTo]:
Call with:

So I think my BB calling range will end up being higher than 40%, but not by much more, given the number of hands I'm playing in position on a loose player, with 3 TAGs open raising before them. The loose/passives don't tend to fold out of the SB/BU very often.
As I've already given a bit of a review of the month as it has progressed I won't summarise here, suffice it to say another frustrating month, but one where volumes (both play and study) improved.

I guess 40% WTSD is considered on the higher end for 0.5/1.0 but if your W$SD is 57% then there's absolutely nothing to worry about.
AF is maybe a little low for that limit yes. I guess 2.1 should be good there. When I played that limit I had 2.35 and the dutch coach said WOW you're aggressive!
Fold to 3B seems high? I don't use that stat. I suppose it is postflop cause preflop I fold to 3B maybe 5%?

Thanks fella.. I forgot to comment on the fold to 3Bet stat.. I assume it's post flop too as I'm only folding pre flop v a 3Bet, then CAP unless villian is something like 1/1/100/inf.
My fold BB to steal stat is typically around 45-48% so the diff must be the calling as detailed above.

You lucky bastards! We beat them twice, they had no chance at all
But England, USA and Algeria is also really good group for us.
Hmm.. tbh it doesn't really matter who we play because we'll be lucky to finish as high as last in any group!
Having said that, Italy always play like crap up to the semi finals, plus we went ahead of them three times in the Confed Cup in SA last year before getting beaten 4-3 so I guess that's a plus!
England and the USA make your group pretty tough, but the games should be pretty exciting.
Should be a cool time to be a member of an international online community.
