I see new blogs are made every day so i thought to myself: "Why wouldnt i start as well?" Its for sure gonna be +EV (Lets call it Enjoy value =)), isnt it? I mean who cares if anyone reads this (please do, please do) Im starting this blog to remind me whats my goal and to keep me on the +EV way ;) So if you by any mistake actually read this, i shall introduce myself. Im 20 years old student. Living in Czech Republic. Studying Economy. Still living with my parrents and my older brother(-EV), hoping to start living on my own, hopefully moving out during studies. (My parents are cool, but wouldnt it be nice to have own place? :P) Currently without a gf (-EV ou yea :/) I like sports of all sorts. Like swimming, running, boxing, tenis etc. Im also a lot interested in psychology, altough im a bit lazy to read difficult psychology books. Anyway why dont we already talk about poker?? My poker career (hahah poker career...) started like a year ago when i for the first time experienced the game. I liked it of course and me and my friends decided to buy chips and since then we play like once a month just small home live tourney 4-7 ppl. Well i started playing online like a 6 months ago? Not sure about the date, but what im sure about is that i lost all money iv every played with. Then i finally got to pokerstrategy.com (that was a damn +EV occurrence for my life). At first i wasnt learning much and i didnt care much about strategy and so i lost my 50$ free capital.. After that i didnt care about poker much, until a month ago. I realized i dont have job, i dont have many hobbies and so i should give it a real try to become regular poker player. So i deposited 50$ to Stars and started SSS. Went bad though. Was running very bad and the SSS just didnt seem right. So with like 20$ i started playing BSS NL2 =) and i enjoyed it (although 2$ stacks seemed too low). I got back to 50$ and i tried SSS again, because i wanted to go to NL5 BSS asap. Well again i had horrible bad lucky few days and i ended up down to 30$, thats when i got angry, i deposited another 80$ and started NL5 BSS. Went well for me and today i switched to NL10 with 260$. Today was going well too and im at 295$ right now. UPDATED: Now There is something i would like to share with you. Its this super idea i got just when i woke up. Since we all know setting monetary goals is not what we shall go for, and so i dont want to end every post with my BR size number, i thought up something i call Value of Improvement. VoI - Souns good heh? &diams; Now whats this really about?? Well, lets see what improves our game - Reading articles - Watching videos - Participating at coachings - Posting hands - Playing and practicing And all of this improves our Value of Improvement. So -Every read or reread article gives me + 2 VoI -Every video watched or rewatched gives me +3 VoI -Every live coaching gives me +5 VoI -Every hand posted and discussed gives me + 1 VoI -Every 1000 hands played gives me + 1VoI Now for my goals: Updated 2.12.2009. Current VoI - 1000 Make about 200 VoI/month steadily. Improve mental aspects of the game. Move up limits when there is the right time... No rush =) My longterm goal: Play 100% correct poker with perfect mindset keeping emotions behind. Play some decent limit that would ensure some decent income to live from poker and travel a lot for some time. Well.. Ill try

It all started in May when I begun my SSS adventure.. It went horribly and i lost like 40$ on NL10.. Which is like 20BIs.. heh..

That made me go to NL2 and play BSS there.. i started to love BSS but on NL2 the move up was just horribly slow so i deposited another 50$ and went to NL5.. From on there my BR and VoI slowly grew together.. I moved to NL10 on 30.6. and thats when this blog has started :f_cool:

Its all nothing really special.. Sometimes i was winnings, sometimes i was losing.. I moved up slowly and my game has improved a lot since then..

12.8. i became Gold member and i moved up to NL25 Felt good

On NL25 i was again moving up slowly and trying to improve..

That brought me to shot on NL50 on 11.10... My first shot was.. well it was a heater That made me stay on NL50 and since then im trying to beat it.. Its hard to say whether i beat it and how much, since its really swingy so far But im trying..

For December i decided to give SH a shot so now im transforming into SH player Its fun indeed.. Its much faster and agressive but ill get used to it =)..

Ill update about last week soon

Ok since it made me very pleased, that i got the Diamond, i want to work hard to actually earn it.

NL50 is still not going into the right direction.. Im not losing.. But im not a big winner either.

Check out my NL50 so far graph:

Its not a disaster, but could be much better... The bad thing is, im not learning enough..

I think those swings and the uncertainity of my real possible winrate are resulting in reducing my motivation. It feels like i want to keep playing to see bigger and bigger and bigger sample size to actually know where i stand. But during that im forgetting about what matters most - Improving and working on my game day and night..

Thats why i want to introduce this little.. well maybe big challenge..

I want to reread all silver, gold and platinum no limit articles till the end of this year.
And i want to take notes while doing it. Not just run through them, but read them and think about what every aspect of the article means.. and take some notes..

There is about 60 of them and i already have 6 of them rereaded with taking notes. Also i will not go for every single of them.. because i dont really need to reread with taking notes for example introduction to heads up, that is quite ibvious

That means i need to read about 2 articles per/day or more. Im not saying it will be easy, but its possible.

To make it a bit more special im gonna give myself 2VoI per silver articles.. 3 VoI per Gold article and 4VoI per Platinum one.

Sure is a great motivation to read your blog though. We even started out the same way, with SSS... the only difference is that i built up my bankroll from 140$ to 500 in a few months playing SSS ^^
I then decided to start playing BSS, but oh well... has taken me longer move up then for you I guess But... you seem to be playing aloooot more hands/month then I do! ♦
And a couple of months ago I tried to become a SH player too, but yea... I'm a bit to speewy I think :f_rolleyes:

How do you find the time, energy and motivation for all this? To me that is still a riddle that has to be solved.

Yea looks like there is a lot of work to do.. But i always knew poker is not gonna be just easy money And i dont want to be just winnings player, i want to be good player..

I try to play 30k hands/month.. There are guys who play much more than me so i even feel its not that much. But i dont think you should rush yourself into playing when you just dont feel like playing..

I also feel a bit spewy at SH tables.. I need to find some reasonable balance

Well i have lot of free time, i have to go to school like 2 days/week and i dont have any other job besides poker.. So im either trying to do something for my body, or i have free time..

Energy and motivation is a bigger problem, since i was always lazy boy :P..
But this community and blog is helping a lot :heart:

Yea i also saw it in another blogs, its obviously not my invention, but i made it myself

Posting all my notes here sounds cool, but ill be taking them on a paper.. Well maybe rewriting them would be also good for learning.. But its gonna be tough to make it all in time so, im not sure how much time i will have for that..

well your laziness is no where near as extreme as mine i am quite certain of that. my program is something like 2h of poker a day, ½h of running or work out and then 13h of relaxation hihi.

edit: and lately im even considering quitting poker cause i just cant find the energy for it. no just kidding
but i am quite bored with poker lately. i think what i need to do is allow myself to play some higher limits again. that might help.
