why don't you just get a stress ball and squeeze it like crazy every time you start tilting? Works for me but then again i'm a really patient person, :P

My sister bought me a guiness stress pint, worked wonders till my parrot tore it up :(

When I get pissed off at poker and wanna throw somethin across the room, I usually look for the closest thing that won't break >.< I did punch my monitor once but it didn't break it just hurt lol.

actually if you let your anger out it isnt good.... the things that tilts me the most is life not poker, but when i m tilted in life i tilt in poker too

+1 vladd. Actually a reason to tilt is not having enough time to play, getting disturbed while playing and such stuff. The poker bad beats aren't so bad after all, because no bad beats = no fish to believe they can win it all just by luck :f_cool:

Well, that isn't entirely true. When you're confronted with negative psychological stimuli, you become frustrated or angry and your emotions start influencing your actions. Depending on the intensity, they could be expressed by frowning, tearing your t-shirt, sledgehammering your computer to scrap metal, etc. It's natural to react to negativity with negativity, but evidently, there's a line, and some of the aforementioned activities metaphorically cross it. You shouldn't make a habit of turning your stress and anger into aggression. Every time you bang that keyboard or yell "motherf..." out of frustration you enhance the habit of associating such emotions with aggression. Worse yet, without realizing it. Letting your anger out is okay, just don't let it turn into a bad habit. Those die hard.

A perfect poker player would have no emotions or at the very least suppress them completely during the game. Of course, that player is yet to be born as none of us are perfect, but through practice we can come as close as it gets. Personally, I believe the concept of tilt is heavily inflated. The articles and videos on this site pretty much introduce tilt as a state of mind that takes over control of your game, leaving you powerless and unable to play your A-game. But they also state that there's only one way to regain control: ending the session and chilling out.

This description requires you to assume from the beginning that you don't have control, while tilt is a modification of behavior. Your behavior. Driven by emotions rather than rationality, true, but nevertheless it's you who chooses which move to make, how much to bet, whether or not to smash your pc and so on. When you're on tilt, you start making an increasing number of mistakes/misplays that lasts until you either quit or finally gather the willpower to calm yourself down and start playing normally again. This transcends to physical behavior. I sometimes see people do very stupid things and later explaining they can't control themselves when angry. I'm supposed to believe that an angry guy cannot refrain from putting his live savings on black or stabbing a person to death, as if anger is some kind of compulsive reflex which forces you to do things against your will. Pretty much everything I broke, along with a lot of hands I misplayed, was because I didn't use my willpower to calm down and rationalize the situation.

Nap time :f_grin:

I'm pretty sure i've nearly broke my hand before, after losing with AA, KK, AKs and JJ on various tables within 2 minutes of each other. I just lashed out and punched the closest thing to me, unfortunately it was a solid stone wall. It hurt, and quickly got rid of my tilt as the pain was gigantic

Probably doesn't help that i've ruined my knuckles after playing a very painful game with friends, then a very painful game called Football Manager  X(

Yeah, Football Manager ruined my hand, I tilted on that like nothing else, when going on a losing streak I was destroying everything I could, I punched a mug so hard it completely shattered once :(

Because I played Counter-Strike long time ago, when mouse flew around constanlty and my CRT 15'' monitor got punched every single day, now I don't remember single case of something broken when I play poker.

For me so far 1 mouse,1 laptop screen :f_cry: ,1 mobile phone
and really really many times punched my walls.
Now that i have moved and i live alone i am thinkin of getting a punching bag,i believe it could be quite helpfull

if it makes you stop tilt it's of course better breaking something if you play medium stakes. Losing 2k because tilt or break your monitor. which one is cheaper? >_<
