Hehe i tryed something similar, but as son i want to live in parents house i have to go college and study witch i don't have any interest in and i defenetly hate spending time in college So my plan is to reach a level where i can pay for flat myself and stop wasting time in college.....so i have to grind hard even at night ♠_biggrin:

Don't you think there is too many ppl dropping from unis, colleges and stuff and deciding to go on poker? I mean almost every second blog here says the same thing, like "I suck at learning and hate work, so lets play". There will be an awful competition at tables in the next few years I suppose.

You got that right, the games are just going to get tougher and tougher, it used to be years ago that 5/10 was full of donkies, soon enough its going to be tough to play like .50/1

But sounds like you have a plan and LOTS of spare time to devote to poker. Wish you the best of luck.

Games are going to get tougher that's true. Especially with sites like this one and so many books/videos available to anyone.

But there's always going to be bad players. People that don't care about stuff like pot/implied odds, people that just want to enjoy poker for a few hours and don't mind losing $100.

I know some of these people irl, they go to the casino every Friday and lose their €150 buyin but they don't care because they're enjoying themselves.

The key to succeed is going to be proper bankroll management. Originally I intended to start on 10nl using a 15BI BRM, but I decided against that.

To play on a limit, I need at least 40 buyins of that limit.
If my bankroll drops below 30 buyins of the current limit, I must move down.

Limit - BR Needed - Move Down At
5NL - $200 - $150
10NL - $400 - $300
25NL - $1.000 - $750
50NL - $2.000 - $1.500
100NL - $4.000 - $3.000

This really is going to be the hardest part of all I think. When you're used to playing 50NL online and even 200NL live, you don't get as much excitement anymore from playing 2/5NL.

I might adjust the BRM a bit for the microstakes, but the last thing I want is to go broke especially with so much hanging in the balance this time.

Anyway, today I started playing on 2NL and quickly found out that if you're getting 4-bet preflop, JJ is not good! Cost me two buyins to find that out.

Another hand I had an overpair on the flop and again faced a lot of aggresion. I shoved it in anyway because there also was a possible flush/straight draw, turned out villain called preflop with J3o and hit two pair on the flop.

I'm still adjusting my play to 2NL but I think I've got most of it figured out by now.

At the moment the bankroll stands at $171.81 so only 28 more dollars to go until the next limit.

I would go for the recommended way of climbing limits here on pokerstrategy. After some experiments and calculations i dumped my ideas regarding BRM because i was getting nowhere.

Good luck to you. I was in your situation last year (Fortunatley my parents soor the positive side of it ♦). I'm, now in my second year of playing only poker. I would recomend you change your BRM to something like 50BI and that you tier it ie: $500 + $1,250 + $400 = 8 BI at NL50 before moving down to NL25. I say this because you money is everything to you. You lose it and your screwed! My best advice to you would be get used to having spells where your awake for 24hrs+. When i started playing full time a friend who was already doing it said this to me "A poker player doesn't sleep, they pass out". Didnt quite understand at first...now i do

Things have been going pretty good so far, running a bit under ev but i'm not too worried. I feel like my game is pretty solid, took a while to adjust but I'm satisfied with the way I've been playing the past few days.

Following this strict BRM has had such a positive influence on my game. I just feel really safe while I'm playing, knowing that there's almost no chance of going broke.

The set goals also motivate me to keep playing, because the next "checkpoint" is only a few dollars away...

I've also set a new goal for me, and that's to play >2.500 hands/day starting tomorrow. Looking back at the hands I've played so far that should only be on average 5 hours/day which is perfectly doable.

Something I'm really looking forward to is 10nl, it's going to be so much easier to clear my bonus ($40 reload bonus) there, and getting silver/gold star also becomes an option.

As most of you know Full Tilt has recently released a new type of table, the Rush Poker tables. I couldn't resist to try them out so I withdrew my bankroll from Pokerstars and deposited $150 on FT.

And boy are these tables awesome. 750 hands per hour easily but... you don't have stats on your opponents anymore so you have to pay a lot more attention to bet sizes and tendencies.

It might be less +EV than normal tables but the HUGE amount of hands you can play per hour more than makes up for that. 4-tabling these Rush tables gets me more hands per hour than I got 16-tabling normal tables on Stars.

There is a slight issue with my BRM now though. The lowest Rush limit is 10nl for which I only have about 22 buyins now.

I don't really want to go back to 2nl knowing just how awesome Rush Poker is so I am going to stay on Full Tilt for now. But as soon as my bankroll drops below $80 I'm immediately moving back to stars to play 2nl (I don't like to multitable 12+ tables on FT so playing a normal format has to be on Stars).

Although I don't have 40+ buyins for my current limit I do still feel pretty safe knowing that I can move down to 2NL when disaster strikes. With 40 buyins secured for 2NL it's _very_ unlikely to ever go broke, unless I'm just a bad poker player off course.

For moving up in the Rush limits the same BRM I decided on at the start still applies. 40 buyins of the next limit to move up, and at 30 of the current limit it's time to move down.
