Thanks Joe!

I should have an update soon enough, It should be an interesting one as Poker has been playing with my mind the past 4 days :f_eek:

Untill then...

You're welcome :)

Thanks for the advice about the swings. I put all this study in, and it's annoying (to say the least) when some doughnut calls against my AA / KK with 49o, and ends up making 2pair or better! Hmph, we've all had bad beats. I guess for me the next trick is to learn to just take the lows with a pinch of salt :).

Look forward to your next post, bud,

Joe

Well I was going to update on sunday but for some reason I didnt get round to it and now its Thursday :f_eek:

Anyway the last week went really well until friday came along and I took shots at $12 45 mans, $16 18 mans and $27 18 mans.

In the $6.50 I have maintained a 26% roi and I plan on trying to keep it over 20% in line with other regs at this limit.
The 18 mans went ok I was down about 13 buyins on the $16's and up 2 or 3 on the $27's.
The $12 45 mans on the other hand went really badly. I just couldnt seem to play my usual A game and it cost me big time.
I have just finished reviewing two of my games with Atoks and it was evident I was playing scared and missing so many spots and making some quite basic mistakes that would not usually happen.

I can accept that I make mistakes even when playing my A game as no one can play a perfect game, but as we reviewed 2 random games I made so many mistakes that were not even close spots.
I am so glad we went through these games as I had not looked at them and had decided the limit hated me :f_biggrin:

I plan to keep reviewing and involving more discisions with Wiz. I like the 45's and I want to become one of the top regs at the lower limits. ($6.50-$12)
The only way to do this is pure hard work and as I love poker so much I never really see working on my game or playing as work

Anyway for all you graph freeks like me here is my month so far...

Buyins shows a better picture of why I am not worried about this downswing....

As always thanks go out to <3, Tim64 and Atoks for all the help over the past few weeks

No there is no rakeback on party poker, you can get bonus through playing but you have to play at the highest level to make it worthwile

I normally don't do this. I decided to try this today. The thing is. Players very often think that i'm bluffing and call with 2nd pair and are willing to unmask me. They just have to see my cards!
I know that AK on flop with A high could seem a bad push but i knew my opp had a pair or a weak ace.
These are just some of the examples. BTW, i ended that 16 table 6$ set on fulltilt with +60$, or +10bi.
There was one hand were i knew for 100% that my opponent has a weaker Ace than me, because he reraised all his strong hands before and bet strong. Now i raise 4bb from mp with AK, and he calls in mp. on flop Axx i push allin, he calls with AQo. People seem to be willing to put all their chips in with one pair only.
3rd example.. wtf was that? he must have put me on pair. He called with gutshot. That's what i'm talking about. It confuses these little fishes.
I'd appreciate some explanation from a more experienced players than me. I don't normally play like this, but today it worked 100% except one were my opponent folded when i had KK. And i know that i could run into two pair or a set, but that's why i bet 4bbs.

I have to admit I dont liike how you played any of these hands _o:

first hand:

Don't raise preflop, AJ is not ahead of most early position raises. The one or two times it is will not make up for the times you are dominated.
Don't shove flop as you dont beat much that will call. Most of the time when called you will be crushed drawing to runner runners the rest of the time any non dumb player will fold.
Poker is about getting value out of your hands, yes it worked a few times but It wont in the long run and against better players you will be getting exploited.

Second hand:

Don't min raise preflop, too obvious unless you balance that with weak hands, but at this level people wont notice.
Again dont shove flop you normally wont get value from anything you beat.

Third hand:

Same

So my thoughts on this play is it will work once or twice in one hundered the rest they will fold or call when you are crushed.
You dont get long term value out of the hands and it makes you very easy to play against.

I hope I dont come accross as harsh but this is a major leak.

Take care

ok ty, no it's okay, i needed some criticism ;)
I just wanted somebody to explain in details why it's not good to play them like that. I'm not going to play like that anymore. Just tried it out.
+ thank you for the little extra advices :)

Thank you, Lennonac, for the sweat yesterday. It was really useful and you are a great guy!

Well I have not updated my blog for a while for good reason.
I didnt want to moan but I am on the worst run at the moment and the past 2 days have been unbearable.
Only today I had my standard 35 buyin downswing that happens every single day.

I have not had a winning day in the 45's for over two weeks and I am breakeven for over 2500 games. and my downswing has lasted 1200 games with no sign of it stopping.

I keep working on my game and there are no obvious big leaks just the odd missed shove. The suckouts and coolers have been so bad that I am considering my future in poker.
I have played over 123 hours of poker this month with very little to show for it.

I will update in the coming days if I will cease trading or not....

I know just how bad it's going for u mate. Whatever way one looks at these periods, they'r never ever easy to take and get through, not as easy as one would want anyway :) U wrote that u've played for 123hrs and that u have nothing to show for that, but I'd like to disagree on that one. That is 123hrs of experience, hard work and dedication that have likely resulted in an improved game for u. Or at the very least contributed to ur overall "poker intelligence." Yeah the money isn't there but ... that's poker :)

Anyway I hope u find a way out of this hole and fast. Imho ur on the right track. Take care and I hope fortune smiles on u soon :)

Just finishing up for the day and I have had another lovely 73 buyin downswing today.

So I am not playing 45 man sngs anymore.
You always hear of people moaning about their suckouts over 100 sngs or something silly.
Well 2.5k games is no longer funny, Every terrible calls by the villian is rewarded and every 70/30 in my favour is more like in thiers.

I am almost 100% sure I dont have an edge over the guys who randomly click buttons.
I guess that means I am a :f_o:

The heater I went on last month made me believe I had an edge where it is very clear now I do not

Your defo not a fish.

Maybe you are paying back lady luck for that super heater that let you complete your last challenge.

You destroyed those games and had alot of luck. It could just be balancing out.

Either way you = winning player not a fish and thats a fact. The more games you play the more money you
are making thats also a fact.

I hope things turn around for you soon I hate reading that people are having such bad runs lately.

you have what it takes dude, maybe you should take a day off and get away from poker for a bit. come back refreshed and ready to go.

Well I have been thinking long and hard about my future and had a chat with some good buddies and decided that I am not a quiter, Tough times like these can only make me stronger.

I decided to learn a side game to get away from the daily grind once in a while.
I am starting to learn 6 max NL which will take a fair amount of work but I am in no rush. Sng players are well know for how bad they are post flop :f_biggrin:

I have a cash game mentor and all the infomation I need to get to a standard where I can beat small to mid stakes so it is all down to me. Maybe sometime next year I will be able to beat NL100 or even NL200.

That being said I am not forgetting my daily grind which will always come first.
I played 100 45 man sng's last night and finally had a winning session, The heater came and I ended up 60 buyins up. That was a mixture of $3 and $6 games. I decided to exclude the $12's and include the £3's as my mindset was quite negative.

I adjusted my play a little from what I had been doing and it seemed to work, maybe after another 1000 games I will be able to see if the changes I made were correct or not.

Having a winning session has helped alot but I am still alittle down, a few more winning sessions though and that should change.
