POKER VS GIRLFRIEND share your story

OK first let me introduce myself,

My name is Alex from NZ I've been with poker strategy for about 2 months now, first attempt at real money poker and loving it!
my bankroll stands on around 300$ all from 50$ starting capital. I'm playing sng 5.50 atm

anyway to the subject, i find that the hardest opponent for me in online poker is my gf !!!
she absolutely hates everything about it!
My ROI must drop by 50% or so when she's around :/

Its impossible for me to play that way not only coz i can't concentrate on the other players but I also get into shit afterward coz i spend too much time playing poker :-O

If you guys found any magic solution please share or if you experience the same problem let us know

find a gf who supports whatever you like to do...

my gf doesn't like poker either, I've tried numerous time to get her to start playing but it just won't happen, but on the other hand, she know it's something I like to do and she doesn't bother me at all, specially when I'm playing.

If she does not understand that poker is important for you and just hanging arround and disturbing maybe you should try to find activity for her, too. Maybe buy her a book that she likes. 1k pages+

There has been given much good advice already.

If my gf disturbs me while I'm playing I just ask her to wait until I'm done and she will. She's ok with me playing, but every once in a while I get the "don't lose all your money baby, okay?" ♠_confused:

And something odd that I have found working very well. Whenever she asks me how I did after a session, I just tell her I'm b/e - no matter if I won or lost. That's the answer that seems to worry her the least for some reason.

Advice:
- Talk to your girl. This is the Internet - I'm surprised noone suggested hitting her yet - the real solution comes from talking to her. Really, if she likes/love you, she'll be cool with your hobby.

- Does she have a hobby? If so, how much money/time does she spend on it? More than you do on poker? I think you get the idea.

My girlfriend has shown a big interest in poker from watching me online and I let her have her first game last night without my help, so I just sat and watched to see how she did. First hand she gets AA and pushes all in, it was painful to watch, thank god it was only a $1 SNG :f_biggrin:

Worst advice in this thread. Communication is overrated. Hide the stuff you do she doesn't like. If she finds out for some reason, claim it's her fault. Deny any and all culpability!!!
