I didn't know what to make of his small bet on the flop. Think i probably should have raised it

I think you wore good... his small bet on the flop might have been an information bet to see if you had the A, whitch case you would have raised.

But the best play IMO is, like you stated, to raise him on the flop. Then you will know exactely if you are good or not. :spade:

i like your line. raising flop doesnt really achieve much with our hand, we have strong showdown value if he wants to keep min-betting.

i think after he bets turn 1/2 pot we can fold, its unlikely hes double-barreling a flush draw and everything else beats us.

+1

way too weak as played

raising the flop with a hand like... 88 or 99 makes more sense, because a lot of turn cards are bad for our hand.

by raising the flop. you fold out all hands that you beat and only an A will call you. so raising flop is a pure bluff... and why would we bluff when our hand will very often be good at showdown if we get there cheap.

AND

calling in position and re-evaluating turn gives us the same information as raising flop does.

like i said, he isnt double barreling without an A. so we can easily fold having only invested 50 chips on the flop to find out.

raising flop doesn´t make sence imo. lessthanthree explained it well i guess.
i call the flop and i tend to call the turn as well... i just can´t see him mindonking the flop with an A?!

<3, aren't you expecting too much reason from a person who min bets?
I've seen some players min bet flop, pot size bet turn. I assume a lot of times this is a bluff.
I agree that we have SD value, but we have to fold the best hand often on the turn.

Therefore, without reads, I'm raising the flop. (If I see him min-betting 3 streets I calldown).

But it's a nice topic. I may change my mind...

if you think his min-bet flop + pot turn range is ATC then call him down. raising achieves absolutely no purpose on the flop except turning ur strong hand into a complete bluff.

if you want to raise because you really dont believe he has an A then the point to raise would be on the turn.

but thats a huge spew imo just let it go.

Also:

of course the min-bet flop means nothing, which is why i say call flop. folding flop would be a huge mistake.

BUT the turn 1/2 pot bet means a lot more. double barrel bluffs in sngs are not that common. and it becomes much more expensive for you to guess if he has an A or not now.

I think you played it fine. Raising the flop is pretty bad, unless you do it for value and plan on getting it in on the flop when he shoves. <3 explained pretty well why "raising for information" is pretty horrible. If you know he's spewy and laggy you might want to b/3bet flop like I said or more likely just call him down.

Ok, I guess I convinced myself...

But I think I call this turn. It's not realy 2 barrels. Min bet + 1/2 pot...
But I understand is close.

What if he checks to you? Do you cbet this?
I guess I don't, for the same reason you said no raise...

It obv helps a lot to have an idea on how your villain will play postflop etc. Since OP did not give any reads on that it's certainly tricky to give good advice and if you feel like villain is bluffing turn a lot I don't mind calling down. However, in doubt I tend to err on the side of caution and just let it go. I also think that his bet size seems well chosen on the turn and I don't think he will do that with his bluffs very often.

If villain had checked turn I mostly just check back to control the pot size and go for bluffinduce. But like I said it depends on villain too, the looser and more of a station he is the more you want to value bet the turn.

I mostly check back too.

On my last post I meant if he checks the flops instead of min bet...
