I realised its top 15 if I want to get $2000. That's insanely hard. I'm ranked 75 atm but when the scores update I should be between 20-35 I think. I plan to stop taking breaks and play 6-8 hours a day.

I was considering 3 options to boost my volume when the games die out in the afternoon
-Add NL200 SH tables: Having too many different betsizings might screw me up. NL200 is easy game though
-Add NL400/600 FR tables: When I shrink the windows to 11 inch in length, it gets really small (for 9 players). All the stats get cluttered up.
-Add NL400/600 SH shallow tables: Easy game too but I hate SSSers and I usually get confused with stacksizes which may cause my downfall

My setup is such that I tile 4 windows on my screen and stack them, compared to the fullscreen stacking I used for 24 tabling Fullring last time.

I have been jamming KXs and QXs sometimes and my results are not as desirable as I would like. All are pretty jammable if the guy likes to 4bet bluff. Let's talk about 2 spots: BU vs EP and blind vs LP, with different types of hands.

In BU vs EP, I think people's typical 4bet/calling range is JJ+/AK vs an aggressive BU. We are flatting all small to mid pocketpairs in position
A2s: 29.5%
A2o: 25.5%
K7s: 26%
Q6s: 27%
76s: 29.6%
KQo: 25%

Obviously AXs > KXs/QXs. QXs is 1% better because it fares better against AK compared to KXs. AXo isn't too bad as well. I never realised that suited connectors were better than AXs for 5bet jamming.

In Blinds vs LP, I think the 4bet/calling range is 99+/AQ. Many will flat 99/TT/JJ but I want to simplify calculations. We are OOP so small pocketpairs are in our range.
A2s: 30.7%
A2o: 26.5%
K7s: 30.5%
77: 35.5%
Q6s: 28%
76s: 30.6%
KQo: 29.4%

Pairs are significantly better for jamming especially when we add AQ, sometimes AJ in opponent's bet/calling range. KQo become stronger when villian has more pairs in their bet/calling range

EDIT: I forgot to consider how blockers reduce combos of premiums.

-For JJ+/AK (40 combos), KQ removes 4 combos of AK, 3 combos of KK, 3 combos of QQ. So it is 25% less likely that villian will be able to call a shove.
AXo removes 4 combos of AK and 3 combos of AA. So it is 17.5% less likely with AXo.
-For 99+/AQ+ (68 combos), KQ removes another 4 combos of AQ (14 combos). It is 20.5% less likely villian can call a shove. AX removes 11 combos (16% less likely)

I'm too lazy to do more calculations but this is my guess on which hand types are the best for jamming over an aggressive 4better.

22 > AXs > KQo > 56s > AXo

I remember Ed Miller saying that your 4bet bluff range can only be a third of your entire 4bet range or else you will become vulnerable to 5bet bluff jamming. I'm not sure how he gets his numbers but I think it's wrong. I shall recalculate them.

We assume we have 30% equity when called.
Villian raises to 3bb. We 3bet to 10bb. Villian 4bets to 25bb.

When villian folds, we win 25bb.
When villian calls, we lose 40bb on average
30%X200bb=60bb, 60bb-100bb=-40bb
For this play to be breakeven, villian must fold 8 times for every 5 times he calls. Required fold equity = 8/13 = 62%

Basically we need to know that villian is 4bet bluffing more than twice as often as he is 4betting for value. Then we can jam to steal the dead money. Most villians 4bet smaller to about 22 or 23bb so the required fold equity is probably close to 65%.

I conclude that your 4bet bluff range shouldn't exceed 60% of your entire range. Feel free to correct any mistakes I have made, I am just doing a rough estimate and can't really be bothered to come up with exact calculations since I'm tired.

Mblm, i would like to ask you what is your opinion for people who steal 70%+ from the button and their bet size is 9$(nl400), 13(nl600) and of course how do you adjust.

vs minraises if they play passively against 3bets, then 3bet the hell out of them. If they are super solid like most of the super high winning regulars, the right counter is to flat super wide (while increasing your 3bet% anyway). I've seen people flat as wide as J9o/23s type of hands. As long as you have a strong OOP/no initiative/donking game, I'm pretty sure you can pull it off. Or you can ask TwiceT about his favourite check/call F, donk T line.

I have a lot of experience vs all the strong Pokerstars regulars and whenever I over3bet them, (much more than 10%) they will call 3bets in position and fuck with you.

My guess is that they flat AA/KK/JJ/TT in position, once in a while AKs and QQ, usually 4betting AKo and QQ. Their tight 4betting range is balanced by the occasional bluff but they rather defend speculative hands. One thing to note is that it is super important to have tons of broadways in your range to rep hands on KXX/QXX /JXX flops when you bluff raise. As mentioned in one of my previous posts, Spoetter (some super aggro 3better) raped the shit out of me because he knew my flop raising range in 3bet pots was probably 3/4 air.

Once you extert a ton of pressure, there is no way they can play 70% from BU. It's just impossible. I tried playing ultra loose with minraises and it fails badly. If you always go postflop with a super weak range, the truth is you cannot stand any heat. Others will bluff raise you a lot first. Then when you start to bluff them back or float their checkraises, they will start widening their value range and you get owned.

More and more thoughts

I know I keep repeating myself in my blog posts but I need to reinforce these ideas in my head so I will eventually apply them.

At the moment I think my technical skillset is very solid. I'm still very terrible at reading the gameflow. I think once I get better at this, I will end up adapting better, which results in more wins/fewer losses which will in turn result in a stronger mindset.

1) Mindset and A-game: Anyone who follows my blog regularly knows I don't give a crap about mindset because I am more focused on the technical aspects of poker. But after playing some hours in my session today I think I have been playing B-game too long. I rarely play C-game (complete spewy mode) but I make too many bad calls on a regular basis. Of course this is partially contributed by my recent bad luck but I cannot keep blaming luck; this is primarily my own fault and i need to fix it. I don't know how though. Maybe I will play 8-fold path while playing Warcraft later.

2) Constant paranoia: Well caltabiano i heard you always get paranoid and my advice to you is "Don't". I am very fond of making ultra thin value bets on the river (1/3 pot size). When I get check/raised, I'm like "wtf he must be bluffing". 75% of the time, it's some weirdly played monster.

The way to crush NL400/600 SH is to let others get paranoid. Show up with bluffs OCCASIONALLY and let them mindfuck with themselves.

And also, I should stop making thin value bets. It's just horrible to try earning a little bit more when I get exposed to checkraises so damn often. But if you are playing NL200 and below, go ahead, make your 1/3 potsize bets to earn a little extra from hands slightly weaker than yours.

I should try check/raising the turn/river more often too. My checkraises failed a couple of times when it got checked through but I managed to get paid off sometimes. It also makes you super tough to play against and people are prevented from value betting too thin against you (thus you protect your weak marginal hands which want to see a cheap showdown)

3) Growing some balls - Hero-calling: This ties in with paranoia. But hero-calling is about having the right timing and feel for the gameflow. I suck at this so I rarely hero-call. Most of the time I spam bets at others and they hero-call me. I don't do the opposite. I just don't feel comfortable calling down mid-pair, it feels stupid when u lose a lot of money.

A lot of people (like myself) like to rep scarecards a lot. I need to be super confident that they are bluffing more than half the time, then CATCH them despite the flush completing. That would be nice.

4) Heavy volume: I play too much which is kind of good, but maybe cut down 1 or 2 hours and spend some time thinking about certain spots.

5) Reducing tables: I want to be the fearless guy who is undefeatable. But there are times where the aggrotards 3bet you 10% in BU vs CO/BB vs SB. Sometimes it gets so bad that it's not worth playing on even though there's a fish there.

6) Adding Fullring Tables: Ok I play my fullscreen stacking layout now and thus I am adding fullring tables. There are usually more SH tables but for some unknown reason in the afternoon there were more FR tables. I like it, the regs are nitty and easy to exploit.

7) Tightening up preflop: I really think you don't lose too much EV by playing tighter overall. It really helps make decisions easier when you are playing multiple tables. As long as your 3bet% doesn't drop too low, your monsters are going to get paid off anyway (assuming you 3bet them most of the time). A stronger perceived range also helps you to run bluffs and prevents people from fucking around with you.

For what it's worth, Leatherass and Matt Bolt play a 17/13 style. Surprised? They are experts at bumhunting so it's not surprising. You should see the way Leatherass swipes down on a fish like a seagull whenever an empty spot on a table appears.

Lesson to learn from them? Think about your hourly, check the lobby as often as possible, think about the money, not the glory. Don't start tables, it's -EV, just let others do it and come only when a fish sits. hehehe

I think there's no reason to play any tighter than 22/18 unless everyone at the table is aggro (or the guy on your left). Then playing 18/15 is great.

8) Improving my headsup game: Don't know when I want to work on this. Maybe I can be a fullring bumhunter, they are SOOO BAD at headsup. The 6max regulars are way better at HU but still not that great (the weaker regulars)

9) Becoming less exploitable overall: Right now I like to check/raise low boards like 553r and I can't rep anything at all. I think the solution is to check/call, donk hands like TT/99. Then I can start doing it with Ace highs and King highs. People like to barrel cause they know you have a midpair and you can't have huge overpair cause you didn't 3bet preflop. I don't like to flat AA/KK OOP cause i feel sad when something bad happens postflop (like failing to stack AK/QQ).

Raising and Check/raising thinner: As mentioned previously my ranges in most spots are too polarised, largely weighted towards bluffs. Need to raise for thinner value (like 3betting AQ/99 in BvB OR raising TPTK on the flop which is something I am still very hesitant to do)

Playing Game-theory Optimal: I need to spend one day to find out how to balance most of my common "leaky" spots

Everything started well. I ran hot, won all the 400$ pots. El Greco XIX started his usual levelling attempts against me with 55 on K5XXQ. I flat IP with QQ and called 3 times (The backdoor flushdraw hit so I was a little afraid when he overbet the river slightly). I know he won't have KK cause he was betting super big on all streets. He also took an induce line with AJ on a J89XX board. I had A9s and picked up a flushdraw on the turn so I raised a committing amount (it probably allowed him to know I had a combo draw) and shoved the river. Not sure how right my play was (probably wrong given how he is in "induce mode" vs me. He 3bet me a couple of times and jammed over my 4bet twice which is super annoying. It completely reminds me of the old days in Feb/Mar.

He has improved by so much since then, I think he was the top 3/6 reg for Apr (earning 20k, but I think he lost at 2/4 and 5/10 so he didn't make that much). I look at my shitty winnings and feel depressed. However my main consolation is that I have much lesser experience than most of the other midstakes players. Most of them have 2-3 years of experience while I have 1.5 years of experience only (with 5 months as a pro). Once I get the hang of things I hope things will look better for me.

I continued losing tons of medium sized pots and I was coolered preflop (QQ usually) constantly in both SH/FR games.

After that things turned around in a 3way pot (Epic hand below). I actually thought I was behind AKs but turns out way too many outs are counterfeited by board pairing or straight flush (and I have 2 hearts too). I have 26% equity in this hand (only my straight outs are good)

I think I played B+ game today. I probably could have made some hero folds and save myself about 500$. Then I might have been able to play more cautiously and make more folds (lose halfstack instead of fullstack).

This is my 2nd day back playing the Fullring games. I should go back to my nit mode. Everytime i see someone stack off TP or AA vs my set, I think he's stupid or silly. But after coming from the crazy 6max games where AA is the nuts, I find it really hard to let go of my hand (especially if there are many possible draws).

And once again, the games were overall extremely fishy. I like it. I still feel my edge is not big enough at my games which is why I am still breaking even. My lucky was probably neutral or slightly good today. I am still running bad against FastEddie but I stacked some of the other regs including Tae Joon Noh (haha I hate this guy) which made my day.

Here's the epic hand of the day, luckily I was called and now my PTR should have a royal flush badge soon.

3) Vs FastEddie. I'm not sure whether Fasteddie would push bottom set here but I think most of his range is AJ. I doubt he is ever bluffing here given the amount of strength I have shown. When he shoved deep down I knew he had AJ about 80% of the time. I think this is a clear fold, I was just stubborn and refused to accept it (he always hits and I always pay him off, still haven't seen a 3barrel bluff from him yet).

4) Villian is Riggness, a 15/12 midstakes FR reg. I know he will be bluffing in this spot a lot with his 20% flop raise. But I have no idea how to play this. If I had AA I will check/call so that I am not exposed to a flop raise and also to induce from 100% of his range. Maybe I should c/c here too. Perhaps my hand is strong enough to get it in? But given how he is coldcalling me late position vs early position, he is so pocket pair heavy, sometimes even suited connectors (twopairs/straights) if he is looser. And anyone who raises JJ-AA here is probably insane.

Other hands

I think in this session, other than these hands I played quite well. I managed to induce a spazzshove by Nehekus when I flat his 4bet OOP with AA, then I check/call flop and river (a Q hit the river and I prayed he would bluff it). He tanks and shoves

1) El Greco XIX snap shoved the flop. Maybe he's trying to rep a draw and get me to stack off light, so I did. I was hoping he had a combo draw so I can have him dominated. Our recent history is that he keeps pushing me around now. I have been bluffing raising him a ton in position but he always has something to push over the top

What I have learnt from this session is that it pays to be tricky. Delayed Check/raising is one of the most important moves you need in your arsenal to both get value and to bluff. And i played a little less aggressive today and everything worked pretty nicely. People gave me much more credit

Ran quite hot today, but I think I missed out on a ton of value, around 500-1000$. There was a hand where I was trying to Trifecta Mattbolt, I got too carried away. If I had shipped the river I would have won (he had top twopair while I had bottom trips). That's 500$ gone.

For some reason, most of my worst enemies weren't there. My main enemies for today were Tae Joon Noh and zanderfish. Tae Joon has been minraising me on dry flops a number of times and I folded every single time. I need to find out what it means and adjust accordingly.

1) Love it when this happens to Tae Joon

3) This is the hand vs mbolt1. I'm sure he would have called if I had shipped the turn cause I might be spazzing. Calling is bad cause he knows i have trips or some other hand and he has no value in betting the river. He is more or less a tight player postflop, besides 3betting/4betting a ton against players like me and his bluffcatching style means I should be the one taking him to valuetown.

Developing reads on fishes
Towards the end of the session I had 4 6max tables with a huge fish in each so I closed the others. I was taking massive amounts of notes on a 50 VPIP whale. He had very obvious preflop tendencies, such as
1BB: suited connectors
2BB: AX/KX
4BB: Broadways

and his postflop tendencies were that he bluffs 40% pot and valuebets 70%. Just when I discovered all these after reading through a ton of hand histories, he left. So disappointing... He had 300Bb and I had 200+bb so I had a good shot at stacking him.

Today,

I had the mother of all upswings. NL200-600 FR/SH 16-24 tables 6 hours +$7000 ($4000 above EV). My NSD winnings was disastrous but when u run hot as hell, no one can stop you. I will try my best not to whine about downswings anymore after today

MY LIFE IS GOOD

I'm still 3-tabling at the moment (I usually continue playing at fishy tables while I write my post for the day).

Warcraft 3

Tomorrow I have WCG preliminaries for Warcraft III (Round of 16 and 8) and the semi-finals/finals will be on Sunday. I have a pretty good shot at it even without training. I am not going to play my main-race Night Elf but I'm going to play Orc (vs Undead) and Human (vs Orc) cause I am not treating this seriously. Even if I lose I can always play the National Finals in July.

Plans to dominate with my ultra-grinding mode

I'm definitely grinding at a Super-nova elite rate and if I keep this up all the way I will certainly get it at the end of the year. Sadly I'm going to school and playing so much is also very stressful. By end of the month I expect to earn 120 000 VPPs (60 000 SPs), which is 420 000 FPPs.

420 000 FPPs will buy me ...
$4000 bonus = 250 000 FPPs
$3600 milestone bonus = 50 000 FPPs
120 000 FPPs is worth almost 2000$
If I want to go crazy and grind 8 hours+ instead of 6 hours per day, I can get 3000$ for top 10. If not I expect to get top 15 ($2000)
Total bonus >$10000

I realised this is super sick. It really helps me keep in pace with my initial goal of 1 year 100k (and to become a NL1000 reg). I'm still not halfway there yet but I should be able to do well for the following months with my much-improved poker skills.

I'm going to waste Friday-Sunday because of WCG/PC Show. I probably need to play at night when I come home or play more next weel to make up for the lost hours.

Sicko Session

I'm a little lazy to post hands since I have to go train Warcraft a little later. All I know is that poor DeanoSupremo got raped so hard, he's definitely at the top of my Best Friend List at PTR. Probably earned 2k+ from him today

Updates for my ownage Cardrunners Video

Ok I don't know if it will be ownage or not but I'll try. I'm not collaborating with Ivan anymore because the rules say you have to do it on your own. It has to be between 45min-60min.

I'm going to do a Theory video on Preflop play and I ended up writing 20 pages worth of content. I think if I added some more stuff and polished it even further I can probably sell it for like 10-20$ or bundle it up with some coaching program and charge more.

I wrote out everything from starting hands, how to adapt to different table conditions, changing betsizing preflop, 3-betting, 4-betting, 5-betting. I think it is an overload of information and I have no idea how to cram it into 1 hour worth of video.

I also lack experience in video editing so I'm going to have to figure out how to use Camtasia. I should be starting on my Powerpoint Presentation File next week.

To win the competition, I need something special about the video. Not sure how, maybe I can add some 1337 painting pics to my powerpoint to make it look a little nicer. And much of my content is borrowed from others like Balugawhale's ebook etc. But I think some things are not really touched upon by ebooks and coaching videos such as:

-5bet jamming (this is mentioned once in a while in sweat videos but I suspect no one really touched on it too much)
-Adjusting calling ranges to opponents' position and looseness (I haven't seen any theory about this topic)
-I might want to borrow a little bit of content from Phil Galfond's video as well (flatting 4-bets in position)

Maybe I should just focus on 3/4/5bets. I need to check rules if I can submit 2 videos (I should be able to produce 2 given how hardcore I am). But if i lose and they steal my videos (under terms and conditions) i will feel damn sad :(

1 video on this topic would go down very well...

I assume that nearly all the videos cardrunners get back will be on preflop play as its easiest to describe. This topic though, i doubt will be focused on by other players.

I love your early morning updates. Everytime I am on work, I am going to your blog right away. And get disappointed when you have not updated yet.

I would love to chat with you over skype a bit.I am playing NL200 sh atm, have played up to NL400 euro's. I am really really fascinated by your multitabling skills and mindset. When I multitable I play very very bad when I run bad, and play good when I run good. So when I run bad, I cannot force myself in playing rationally anymore and am forced to call the session a day quite early.

I find that the level of skill on NL200sh is far less superior then the skill level of NL200 fr. I play on ftp btw. There are a few crushing regs, but the rest are easy exploitable. I cannot play more than 10 tables simultaneously, which is affecting my hourly. I believe a $100/h is easily achievable on NL200. What is your $/h since you went pro? And what is your goal to achieve :)

Skype: ps.tkroes , plz add me :)

i did add you i'm "galvin_bay"

i don't know about FTP but im surprised to hear you say FR regs are superior in skill. Main 2 skills needed in NL200 FR:
-Fold your overpairs to sets
-Use your sets to own overpairs

Ranges are so easily defined and it's not too difficult to play FR.

i can discuss rest with you if u come on skype (i rarely do but watever)

I might have said it wrong, I think the relative skill level on NL200fr is superior to the relative skill level on NL200sh :)

the mathematics isn't too difficult for poker because it's simple arithmetic. What's difficult is assigning and estimating accurate ranges
