best post ever

I just finished 32/5593 I had about 16BB and tried a resteal with 88. The BB was sitting out so it was a very good spot.. Then the donkey who minraised preflop calls me for 80% of all his chips with 10k suited.. seriously? calling me with such a bad hand? And he flop two pair.. then a fullhouse on the river..

Pretty dissapointed right now.. $1 buy in.. came further then 99% of everyone and i go home with $12.. thought it was finaly time for my big win.. A final table would have been $44.. 7th would have been $125 which is more then half my bankroll..

i did win $87 by winnning a tournament with about 60 people on betmost.. But i'd have really liked to go far on pokerstars.. I got good cards.. i was ahead every single time i got it in.. But at the very end it started going downhill. A few bluffs against someone who was running like a god. He was like bottom 10 with like 50 left.. and i see he's chipleader now... LOLDONKAMENTS.. but seriously.. pretty dissapointed.. I was doing so good.. i was in the top 10 since there were like 200+ people left.. A few bad bluffs and losing a few coinflips later and i'm busted..

Here's the hand i was talking about.. I was like 24/32 at that time so i didn't have much to lose.. maybe it was too loose. But i knew he was very likely to have a bad hand and i thought he would fold such a crappy hand but he didn't.

Hi there!

Really sucks about your bad run. But you can't really complain about the last hand. In theory, you are at best with a flip holding 88 against MP1 raise. Resteals are from the blinds not from CO. I also had a lot of problems when I got to a point where I was the big stack as I played a lot looser and that got me in trouble. Stick to basics in these low BIs tournaments. Play tight and take advantage of the fear people have of putting in chips against you PF and on the flop. But keep in mind that a call on the flop pretty much have them committed and you have 0 FE as they won't call if they don't trust their hand. Exploit ITM bubble and especially FT bubble if you have a good stack by stealing from BU and SB but let go if you don't hit or don't have the hand to call a resteal.

Good luck!

Manu.

Just announcing i'm taking a break from the blog and maybe poker. I just haven't been playing my A game lately. I will play alright at the beginning but when i flop a K high flush and i'm a 97% favorite and then that person makes runner runner for a fullhouse i just can't help but tilt away the other tournaments by playing too agressively. I don't really tilt that badly, i usualy still get it in with the best hand. Anyway.. back on topic..I've been running like shit for 3 weeks. And it's really a vicious cycle. I try to play my best and then i will get horrible suckouts, and now i'm playing worse and i'm losing even more. I thought i breaked out of it a few days ago, but after getting a sick amount of bad beats i started tilting again. The problem is i will usualy be playing in a few tournaments, so i will not be playing my A game anymore in the others which could really cost alot of money.

I just don't think i can handle the swings in tournaments yet. I've been thinking about this for a while now. And i'm going to switch to cash games. If i tilt i can just leave the tables. And alot less variance. Because you can win 5 coinflips in a tournament and be running +EV and then just lose that critical 70/30 hand and bust out of the cash.

Another reason to switch to cash games is that i want to play live poker. The first time i played live it was in my last year of high school in a school tournament during a fund raising event in which you could do all kinds of stuff. I only played play money online back then but i still managed to win it.
I felt i was the best player there, and i probably was. Even though i was still a fish :f_p: I really need to stop rambling on.. So i want to go the casino soon and play cash games. I think the lowest is like NL100? so i will have to move up the limits quickly and once i beat NL25 or NL50 i will take a shot at NL100 live.

Pokerstrategy suggest 25BI bankrollmanagement So i'm rolled for NL5 currently. I'm probably playing about 10k hands at NL2 first and see how it goes. If i don't crush NL2 i won't move up probably. I will be playing SH most likely. And post hands in the hand evaluation forum.

That's pretty much it. I might update the blog again in a week, i might not for months though. I might not even play any poker if cash games go really bad. The main reason for all this is that i'm just not enjoying poker anymore. I'm not playing with my own money, i'm not playing for a living, i'm not even playing for a large amount of money. And yet i'm putting so much pressure on myself to succeed for no reason at all. So playing live will hopefully spark my interest in poker again

harrington on cash games is for you.
second, I must say that live games are A LOT easier then internet games. If you can beat nl25 I'm sure you will crush nl100live.
going live seems like a good idea to me. to bad there are no casinos out here :( (only one but no one plays cause 'the table is rigged!')
