Well I'm certainly enjoying the grind. Unfortunately early in the month I played HU cash games outside BRM and lost pretty big (anyone fancy a giggle PTR me!). I played rush poker during rush week and it took up valuable ST time and a little more of my BR. I played $10.50 ST's when I'm not rolled for them with the intention of quitting if it didn't go well which I did but only after losing ~10BI's, ~20BI's for $5.30. The 2nd half of the month though was without a doubt my most focussed and successful since I started playing again last December. So, for motivational purposes here is the graph of the $5.30's this month, all 1837 of them.

New month
New goals
New blog name

I decided that because the statistical anomoly has dissipated which led me to naming my blog "I Don't Like Mondays" that it's time for a new name.

I give you.... (drum roll)

! SHOVE IT !

I has no postflop skillz so I just shove it, for hours a day I shove, shove, shove

August Goals
:spade: Become IRONMAN This means playing 96 tournaments on 25 days of the month so...
:spade: Play 2400 $5.30 6-Man Super Turbo's
:spade: Don't play $10.50's until my roll is 75BI's for them
:spade: Use my free month on Cardrunners effectively
:spade: Continue to work on my HU game

I would say with my current state of mind and motivation the volume goal will not be a problem. Ironman requires something a little different than raw volume though, it's consistency throughout the month which I may struggle with. I'm up for the challenge though and have a really strong feeling that this month will be somewhat of a breakthrough for me and that I may, with some good fortune be able to move up to the $10.50's. Fingers Crossed.

Nothing happens at Super Turbo's, Matt Sexton sat in some ST's once but now I beat a Full Tilt Pro heads up lol.

Shame I missed the end of the hand in the screenshot but I won. If like me you have no idea who she is then - Chris Klecz Lolz

Schweet night. Great feeling, cancels out the one from last night ! It was just bog standard, pretty much BE for 60 games. Then I ran so good, sucked out on everyone and got the better end of most of the setups

Missed my volume goal for the first time in the month. Weds are always going to be tough for it if I want to keep on playing in my home game. I tried to get as much as possible in last night before I left but had no time once I got home to finish it off. The game is too good not to play, I only made £5 last night and am probably ~BE over all but it's a hell of a lot of fun ! It means I can only miss 200FTP's in a day another 5 times this month and with 3 more thursdays it means only 2 days off. To be fair 2 hours a night isn't particularly taxing and I have the feeling that I'm going to do another 500FTP day this weekend to pick up the volume a little !

Hello,
here is my small report from 10s. Im after 550games BE:(
There are 3 types of games:
1. VERY loose. 3x in 500games i saw CALL AI for full stack in lvl 1 with 65o!! Qxs+ are classic cards for AI or CALL. 50% games
2. Same as on 5s. Not loose, not tight. Only difference is in number of regs. There are 2+ on every table. 35% games
3. Uber tight. example > lvl 3, 6 players, i fold all hand and i have 300chips. 15% games

You need super tilt control, because situation 1. I got 4 downswings 15+ BI, one -30BI. Safe BR is a must.
Only one big difference is in blind stealing and blind defending. Nearly everyone will call SB/BU steal with Qxs/Kx in every lvl.

When i see your graphs i will go back to 5s:).
GL with your ironman challenge

Ty, and I think I've only ever played one or two DoN's.

Thanks for writing Akwed, I appreciate your thoughts. I've been following your stats on SS since you moved to $10, quite a ride you've been on ! I played a few myself (52 for -10BI's) and found myself in much tighter games than I'm used to but tried to exploit it too much. Quite a few of the regs at $5.30 seem to be mixing in $10's right now and the games at $5.30 in the evenings (00:00GMT onwards) are ridiculously easy. It's this that's making me worry about stepping up ! I'll tkae some more shots at 75BI's, I have 70 after last night but am prepared for some sickness !

Day 6 hasn't started yet. 10PM, I've done some decent reviewing. Stopped being such a skinflint and invested some $ into sngWiz, wizHUD another months sharkscope and updated my HEM. The newest version of HEM has a pretty handy new feature for multitablers, auto update - so you can see live next to the players in the pot "XC" for check-call, "XR" etc. Looking forward to checking it out, didn't even know there was an update.

So, after these deductions but taking into account my RB today I have enough to take a shot. $10.50's for tonight maybe just 6 tabling to start. Wish me luck...

Can't catch a break at the $10.50's, should have spent practically the whole session in profit - spent none of it in profit. Going back to $5.30 tommorrow, feel too nittish, not comfortable for the first few. Loosened up a lot for the last 40 or so but it's just not happening. Need more BI's !

Day 7
73 Games - -1.8%ROI - 2.7Hours

Mixed in $5.30's with $10.50's until I was no longer comfortable lol. Then stuck with $5.30's for the rest of the session. Probably not going to take another shot until I have >$1000BR. There's no point, I'm not happy with losing that much right now = I play less tables = less $/hr. I'll be back there when I have more $'s so I can play like a loon and suck out on everyone over 9 tables like I do at my regular stakes !

Anyway the week looks like this...

Found a new drummer to play with the band, not rehearsed for weeks now... I hope I can still play the bass _cool: So, tonight I'll be jamming and might not be back until midnight, then I need to get my volume in so it's gonna be a late one. I'm commited to getting it done though, even if it kills me at work tomorrow.

Been having a long think about moving to $10.50's and it led me to re-read the blog to see where I tried it when I was playing 9-man ST's, 125+BI's! So my mindset has obviously changed and I think part of it is the competetive spirit in me and seeing that so many of the $5.30 regs are taking shots at the $10.50's (you included Akwed!). It has dawned on me today though, that since 9-tabling continuously my $/hr at $5.30 is none too shabby and that I just need to keep hammering these and not get caught up in jumping about so much.

I've screwed up my bankroll soooo many times that I don't want to fuck it up again. I'm determined that this time, I'll get to those $10.50's but only when me and my bankroll are ready. I AM A NIT

As per request.

Seriously, i'm a nit myself, (both poker and life) but trying to go against that nature has lead me to some sick breakdowns in my game. And while it was stressful, in the end of a day the rewards were worth it. Just ask yourself if you are happy with where you are at now and if not, take a shot. Having to move down after failed shot improves your mental toughness, (or w/e it's called) so it's not such a bad thing after all.

Thanks Nightfrost !

Lol, that picture cheers me up. Like you say in your blog, it's a good message for poker and for life. I need to get out of my comfort zone in many respects - music, poker, parenting, life.

I don't thing that taking shot is the right way.
Just take 30-40BI from your BR and play until you lose it all. I hope that you don't lose it _cool:.
It's imho better, than trying shots for 5-10BI. You don't need go back after small downswing. As you know, 10BI swing is normal variance in 50 games.

Look at your graph at 10s. You was max. 20BI down in 100games. With 30-40BI "rule" you can play easily 300+ games. After this, you will see same results.
Wait for 100-110BI and be prepare for big ride. Nexttime i will try my big shot with 150BI's :)

Whoa! That's a big ask. There's a lot to be said for comfort in parenting and life. Poker and music are just fluff compared to those two. I'd start with music and see how you get on if I were you. :f_biggrin:
