Poker
the month startes quite well. it seems that my DS is over and i am slowly climbing up from the basement. yesterday when I checked my HM database I realised that I finally got BE on NL25 since I started (although Ive played just 30 k hands so far). With clearing my first deposit bonus plus some stellar rewards Im in black numbers now although Ive decided not to count that to ma BR and cashed it out once its cleared. Yesterday I also played some HU SNGs (6.25 and 11.50) running quite well. Im really sorry that I dont like HU SNGs so much as CG as at these limits they are soooooo fishy. Anyway it quite good BR builder so from time to time I will continue playing them especially because I like HU play but I dont have BR for NL50 HU. I actually plan to start with it once I am at NL 100 SH with some solid BR. Im slowly working on improving my handreading skills and I think it starts to bring some first assets. Although the spots I made some thin calls were imo not so difficult I think that maybe 2 months ago Id fold in the same spot even now it seemed to me obvious that Im 100% ahead.
Till the end of the month I plan to put in some serious volume as I want to clear bonus asap and use that money to pay for my further education (my college degree is now Mgr. - Magister of law and I wanna get JUDr. - doctor of law - More about this decision below in RL update) and I also want to hit goldstar status finally. So I will try to play abt 2k hands per day, ofc if it will not affect my A game and by the end of the month Im hopefully gold and my bonus is cleared.
RL
As mentioned above I wanna get back to school for some time. Due to our university system we (lawyers) get Mgr. degree after graduation and if we want we may sign in for further study to get JUDr. Its actually not big deal if you are just Mgr. as achieving JUDr. doesnt help your career or salary at all. But it looks better ♦ The one thing is that it costs 500 EUR to sign in for this study. Its not much but Ive always found another way how to spend that money more usefully imo ♦ But Ive always wanted to get this degree too
I was just about to sign in for that already (have money saved for that) when two weeks ago argument with my mother regarding me playing poker arisen. She was like: "In my opinion you are spending too much time and energy with that GAMBLING." (I dont comment the fact that Im 26, have actually 2 jobs and completely living on my own) Ofc I freaked out like a hell that its not her business, its not gambling etc. And she continues with sth like: "You should rather focus on geting your JUDr. degree or do sth more usefull than playing poker." This moment I reaaaaly had to bite my tongue but I didnt say anything about me being about to sign in for it actually. My first reaction when this conversation was over was: "Fuck it, Im not goinnna study any more" (I may get kindda hardheaded when sbd tells me what to do or not to do). But when I cooled down a bit a rethink all that thing and came to better solution. I have now quite solid BR for my limit and clearing bonus so I will pay for my study with my poker money and ofc not say anything to my parents (not even about my study) till Im done with it. And then one day Ill just call my monther with sth like: "Hi mom, btw. Ive already get my JUDr. degree and I payed for that with my poker money." ♦ I think itll be perfect revenge ![]()
One more thing. On the weekend I had opportunity to meet TT, TLN and silent at their flat here in BA. They are cool guys (also advised me about one of my hand I played in my session that day) and I really enjoyed the time. We played some NL10, PLO10 pinapple and crazy pinapple and had some drinks. TT had position on me and refused to switch places with me ♦ But it was really fun
TLN owned me at crazy pinapple and omaha flipping, silent at NL (as far as I remember ♦) and TT at PLO ♦ I owned bottle of scotch so the score was almost even ♦ After that we went to the center - one club was empty, there was a line in fron of another so we ended up in one pub with beer
Nothing extraordinary happend except me sliding on some wet ground and falling in the mud dressed in my fancy white shirt ♦ But its usuall - when there should somebody fall of the stairs, slide on an ice or do some similar stuff its always me so I wasnt surprised that much ![]()
So thx guys for nice evening ![]()
More updates coming in some time ![]()

I like ur style JudrKaktus, u should record ur mums reaction when u will call her about finishing studies
wow, just seen the graph from last month..
u re not alone, dont worry: i am ~40BI under EV for last ~40k hands. But u seem to be handling it remarkably well, extremely good for your future, keep fighting, dont give up, report and next week we can also meet. (but not this one, we are out for holiday)
all the best
already posted this hand to hand evaluation forum but if sbd stops b and write his/her opinion Id be gratefull ![]()

SB: $25.00
BB: $25.00
UTG: $25.00
Hero (MP): $46.30
CO: $48.55
BTN: $36.86
Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is MP with K♦ K♣
1 fold, Hero raises to $1, 1 fold, BTN raises to $3.30, 2 folds, Hero raises to $7.25, BTN calls $3.95
4bet PF is imo std although a little deep. In the case of his 5bet Im prepared to stackoff as I expect random reg on NL25 stackoff also w QQ, and AK (based on multiple experience). Imo I made mistake in sizing my 4bet - now I prefer sth between 9 - 10 (personally 10) not to give him odds to call w pocket pairs for set value calculating with implied odds.
Flop: ($14.85) 4♣ Q♦ 9♠ (2 players)
Hero bets $7, BTN calls $7
After his call of my 4bet Im quite lost in putting him on range. I think it can be sth like pocket pairs but TT+ more often than 22 - 99, AKs, AKo (but I think with AKo he may find fold PF sometimes), plus some random broadway like AQo, AQs, AJ, QK etc. - but i think he will deffinitely fold them more than 60% maybe more than 70%.
cbeting is imo std - for value of Qx hands plus maybe JJ, TT and other random floats and also for protection against Ax (mostly AK) after calling I put him on Qx, AA, sets plus sometimes some random float as Ive already mentioned above.
Turn: ($28.85) 3♦ (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $7, Hero calls $7
On turn Im completely confused. SPR is already 1:1 but I expect all worse hands to fold if I fire second barrel. So I decided to go for c/c. What about betting turn? If bet what sizing? bet full pot? or bet smalish maybe about 10 to set up pot for river shove if called?
Villains bet doesnt make sense for me. I dont know if it is thin value bet, attempt for cheap bluff or monster which wants value. Does anybody see fold here with odds 1:5 but on river we get so great odds to call if we check an villain bets again?
River: ($42.85) 6♣ (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $15.61 all in, Hero calls $15.61
river is blank and I dont see any sense in leading and I also dont mind if river goes check check. After villain bets imo I have to put my money in with my OVP with 1:4 but I may be mistaken.
What range do you give villain on flop, turn and river?
What would be the most optimal line in this spot? What betsizing?
Can we find fold on turn or river?
thx for advice
I put him on AK maaaybe stubborn AQsuited and pocketpairs QQ- and sitll, QQ depends on his 3bet aggresion from BU and his awereness of position etc.
and thenpost-flop its all about his tendencies. some poeple are able to bet JJ this way, he is nto bluffing for sure.
QQ deeper is deffo in his range..
PF, yea, a bit bigger is better, sth like 9-10 deffo. u re deeper and ur 3bet/4bet sizes should depend on leverage. postflop is very bad sizing.. look at what u have left on R.. 2 ways: bet so that u re AI on T already- more difficult for him to escape potentially from JJ or AQ and ur R bet isnt just pathetically useless then.
also: c/c, c/c is a strong consideration if he is agressive. U dont beat ton of combos in 4bet pots vs nitfests on NL25, u should be carefull and look for increasing ur ev by agrodead money from him. AA, QQ are the most frequent hands u re going to see here if u re betting 3x to him. Sometimes AQ, sometimes JJ. While if u c/c vs an abcnonthinking plr he might turn AK/random underpair to bluff.. If he cbehs on F, u re firing all cylinders from T and get it in on R.
Your running quite badly
I'm also playing NL25 SH at pokerstars so if you don't mind sharing what's your username so i can look out for you?
Although you might want to play at my table since i'm a huge cash game fish ♦
Its been quite a while since my las post. The main reason was that there was nothing interesting to write. Ive played >100k hands at NL25 on pokerstars so far and since last days wasnt doing very well except of abt 2 days upswing. Despite me playing/runnig bad my BR was slowly growing due to clearing FDB and I also took a few shots at NL50 when there were some fishy tables. As expected I lost some stacks due to coolers/badbeats/bad play and moved back to play solely NL25.
I also hired a coach - guy from our slovak poker community (NL200 reg). We have had 3 sessions so far and I like his approach and I think that I have improved my game quite a bit due to this. So it was good investment.
Maybe next week I plan to move my roll to ladbrokes due to very good rakeback deal which I can get. Pity I will not be tracked by ps when playing there so my black membership will have to wait for a while ♦. I just want to earn 2,5k more FPPs at stars to buy 4x50 USD bonus to boost my roll a bit. Once its done Ill immediatelly move to LB and hopefully will do better there than on PS. Ive decided to cashout all rakeback from there, not because I need money (actually Im now in period of life that I dont need anything and my salary is quite good comparing to my living expenses and our country standard) but to see my actuall winrate and not to move up the limits when I dont beat them
The last important thing to mention is that Ive finally improved/fixed my mindset. Actually I had known all those things about longrun and bla bla bla for a long time but mabye three weeks/month ago I experienced something like illumiating moment (dont want to sound kindda mystical but thats imo the best way how to express it). Long story short. One moment in my session I suddenly realised that losing KK vs AA, and mostly important winning AA vs KK is nothing I should be worried about (by the same token set vs overset, flush vs overflush etc etc). Those spots in longrun dont produce any income or loss in poker as there is reciprocity in them. Imo most money of poker player comes from small/medium sized pots with good thin valuebetting/barreling etc. (I am aware that this description is very rough and not really accurate but hopefully everybody understands the main point). And even when outdrawn Im happy to see when my opponent makes mistake as I know that that is my source of income. (FE - one hand guy called my 3bet w 44 IP - BTN vs SB. on TTx I had trips - he called my cbet and turned FH. at first I was like wtf but than i realised - I want him to call IP w small pp and call even cbet on flop. its true that he sometimes hits his lucky turn but if we repeat this situation 100 times he is loosing horrible amount of money, not even when I have trips actually but also when I decide to barrel w overcards or any other lower equity stuff as he cannot stand the heat on turn when I fire doble barrel or in the worst case when I shove river).
It also helped me to watch DC series - Tolerance which deals with variance and all its aspects (I can recommend if somebody has the same issues as me. its good to see how big can be your standard deviation even when you are 10bb/100 winner
) reading poker mindset and on contrary one series of non-poker related lectures called What are the odds. It deals with probabilities with pure mathematical approach. Especially one part helped me most - dealing with coin flipping. The guy showed that when you flip the coin 100 (or 200 dont remember exactly) times there is abt 99% posibility that there will be 5 heads/tails in row and almost 80% chance of 7 in row (doesnt it remind you of std situation AK vs QQ when you lose 3 of them and you are like wtf it must be rigged ♦ ??) . I can definitelly recommend. Actually its nothing new but it helped at least me to see it from this point of view.
All in all hopefully Ill never be whinning about running bad again and will be able to keep this mindset forever.

PS: @Hahaownedlolz - Id rather not to share my PS screen name for now as I have impression that a lot of PS members plays at my tables
