Joined Pokerstrategy yesterday and had my ups and downs... After tilting last night and going down to 20 I am now at 40 again after following the SSS word by word. Things look great!
Now to my actual question... Does anyone know any (common) nicknames for your starting hands?
The ones I know:
AA - American Airlines / Pocket Rockets
AK - Anna Kournikova
99 - German Virgin
anyone got more? I'll add them to the original post

KK = KingKong/Cowboys
JJ = Fishhooks
88 = Snowmen or is it Snowmans? (nah ^^)
22 = Quack Quack
AK = big slick
AQ = big chick
AJ = jackass
A8 = dead mans hand
77 =walking sticks
QJ = OJ Simpson killer
a set or four of 3's = little (set) and big (four of a kind) forest
straight A2345 = wheel
9s9c = also known as phil helmuth (also didnt know about german virgin LOL)
there is plenty more names for so many hands... try google it
It's a funny opinion that AK never wins... In my book it's ranked #9 for expected value (around .5 BB) and #6 if suited (~.75 BB).
AK ~ Big Slick (it actually wins often, but its a dangerous hand if you are unable to fold it :))

A8 is Dead man's hand only if they're spades or clubs iirc (though the original definition came from 5 card draw so it's a bit fuzzy anyway)

95= Dolly Parton because of her song "Working 9 to 5"
55= Speed limit - Think I heard of this one, wasn't 55mph a designated federal speed law in the USA that was notorious for being removed after it was completely ignored?
Don't know all of them though.
KK - Ace Magnets
55mph was the nationwide highway speed here in the US for a very long time until 10 or so years ago when the law was repealed, allowing each state to decide for itself (most chose 65, 70, or 75.) I've never heard about 55 being notoriously removed due to being universally ignored though.
