ya but there are a few reasons that i like to grind long sessions and :think less"
1)RB is varience free and i want to make as much as possible
2)I never like leaving with a loss which often leads to marathon session where i am not playing my A game
3)I wanted diamond status on PS.

I really think this works in rush poker and am thinking about using this bet-size as my standard size. The reasons i like it is:
1)can call many 3bets with p/p for set value
2) keeps the pot small preflop.
3)Confuses Regs
4)Allows cheap stealing vs autopilot players
5) Players are more inclined to 3bet AK and JJ,QQ and less inclined to 3bet bluff. IE:bigger value range, smaller bluff range
6)Makes cbets/2nd barrels cheaper
Any feedback on minraises?
Edit: This is working super well. I realized that i am losing alot of money by betting hands like big aces preflop and cbetting the flop and subsequently giving up. By minraising i am saving so much.
Some basic math:
Preflop:Hero bets 2bb, BTN calls, BB calls
Flop(6.5bb):Hero bets 4bb, BTN raises BB folds Hero folds
In this scenterio hero loses 6bb but would win 4.5bb (net) if both villians fold
Preflop:Hero bets 3bb, BTN calls, BB calls
Flop(9.5bb): Hero bets 7bb, BTN raises
In this scenerio hero loses 10bb but would win 6.5bb (net) if both villians fold
Note:If one of the villian calls on the flop and hero c/f subsequent streets without showdown value the math is the same.
I feel that scinerio 1 is better b/c u lose less money when when villian has a hand but u still have the oppertunity to take down a decnt pot if villians missed the flop. Also in scenerio 1, it is significantly cheaper to 2nd barrel if the situation calls for it.

ok misunderstood!

Well i think it depends..

At first.. In your first example you cbet 61,5%.. So in your second example you should cbet like 5,8$ which makes the difference smaller.. Obviously there is still difference but there are other things to consider.

If you raise 10% of your hands preflop then its usually for value, if i can be called by worse hands i want them to call rather biggger bet than smaller.
Obviously id you decide to minraise your BU+CO only then its another story.

Also by betting more preflop you generate more dead money to be taken postflop by cbetting. If player is calling a LOT preflop and folding 50% to cbets, then it should be fine to operaise to 10bbs preflop against him and then cbet 1/2-2/3 flop.. Of course this only applies to certain players..

Against regulars minraising might have fine benefits as you mentioned.. Because 3bets troubles you less etc..

But another thing is: when you hit your big hand, its harder to get value. If you minraise pre and get one call.. The pot is 5.5bbs.. Even if you potsize bet every street you only get in 75bbs and we all know potsizing every street isnt great option againt many players..

So overall its hard to say =) It has some positives and some negatives.. Maybe someone else can contribute with some better theory analyzes?

Anyhow, lets see how it works for you, keep us posted! And good luck ;)

1)Yes, you can call w/ PP for set value but most of the times you will be OOP => hard to get value.
2)With your 'red line winner' style I guess this is good for you but it also keeps the pot small when you have monsters.
3)Not really. Maybe for a few k hands but regs that have cost you money will adapt and still cost you money imo.
4)Yes but also you get less value if you actually have a hand against autopilot players.
5)And you will be forced to play OOP against a hand way better than yours every time you call a 3bet.
6)This is a '+' again as you like to have a winning red line.

One advantage to minraising pre would be the ability to 4bet bluff more often in LP vs blinds situations.

What I'd also like to mention is that you give great odds for a lot of hands by minraising. If you can call 3bets for set value so can others. You will get many flat callers to a 3bet which I don't think you want. I just don't think minraising is the way to go when there still are plenty of fish to pay you off. But hey, if it works for you that's great. Keep us updated to how things go. ;)

But if u raise 15-20% of the hands, u also raise p/p,suited connectors, suited aces, broadways, etc so minraising keeps the pot small with these marginal hands. When u hit a big hand preflop u can always change up your bet sizing, although this is super exploitable, it is rush so not many people will notice.

1)Yes, bet when villians 3bet in rush they usually have a super strong hand therefore when u hit your set vs a overpair u can often stack your opponent.
2)Yes, but u have more marginal hands in your range then monsters.
3)This is rush 50fr, most of the regs wont adapt tbh
4)Again more marginal hands then monsters
5)I meant i can fold my marginal hands when they 3bet these hands. Normally people flat QQ,JJ and AK and i lose money on many flops with marginal hands

Just change ur betsizing based on position, it's quite common to open minraise or 2.5x the button as a default while 4x'ing UTG .

since i started minr, i am playing 15/13 when my normal game is 12/10 so i think this is a positive. _biggrin:

this. I open pot (3.5x) UTG and utg+1, and 4x on SB. and 2.5x everywhere else.
I guess you could do something like 3.5x utg, 3x MP, 2.5x LP (it's what I do at normal SH ring games), but I don't know if it changes much tbh

Awesome! Congrats! Instantly shooting to nl100?

Personally, I don't like the minraising. I feel that if minraising you'll get played back a ton more than with a normal raisesize. Also on nl50 it's still played mainly for value and there are a ton of fishes in those tables against whom you want to play big pots with. Obviously, I don't have a sample size on minraising and propably never will. Yet I still feel that villains are changing their betsizing a lot according to their handstrength both pre and postflop and given that the minraising just looks really weak. If your ranges in EP still stay the same, you engourage (is that a word?) people to flat more IP vs. you and thus can give you very hard time postflop.

going to stay at nl50 till i improve my mindset.
