saw flop | saw showdown

Button (1140)
SB SB (1270)
BB (1720)
UTG (360)
UTG+1 Hero (1440)
MP (3370)
CO-1 (1880)
CO (3820)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 9♥ 9♣
1 fold, Hero raises to 120, 4 folds, SB raises to 240, 1 fold, Hero calls 120.

Flop (520) 9♠ 8♠ Q♦
SB bets 200, Hero raises to 1200, 1 fold

I'm not too sure about the call preflop. Villain is unknown, and I don't get the odds to call. 99 is a pretty crappy hand aswell.

edit: ffs, how did this get here? Sorry mods, could you please move it?
edit2: mods beat me to it

Hi viewer88,

I moved your hand to the sample hands forum, it will be evaluated by a professional hand judge here. ;)

From under the gun I am limping this, calling a small raise if I have the implied odds and evaluating on the flop...

I don't like raising this OOP because you are getting called by so many hands with over cards that if the flop comes down with any 10->A you are in trouble... reraises also often have you dominated... so early it's not the best spot to be getting more chippies from...

On the flop I don;t think your getting max value out of weaker hands... I often raise to 500-600 maybe he has a draw... but a smaller bet, and if he calls reevalutate the turn...

you get way to readable if you limp 99 here... As I know viewer is trying to climb up the limits I would advice him away from limping 99 here... it's just as see through as it gets :)

I like the raise... It fits the style of a TAG and most flops will be really easy to play...

when you call that min 3bet I have no idea what your thinkin... I know you can do better than call this bet :)

- His line looks strong.. you can't be sure how to play if the flop comes undercards

- You'll only hitting the set 1/7.5 of the time so well the amount you've put into the pot at this stage is seriously -ev :)

-Stacks are not big enough to say it was a implied odds call :)

so I just fold it preflop after the 3bet...

I like the shove on the flop though :)

about the preflop call: I think it's pretty close, although I should have folded. I have 120 to call, and he has ~1000 chips left. 1000/120=8.33333, and I have position. I would have to stack him almost always though, but minraising looks pretty strong so I have nice implied odds.

I like sometimes the call and limping too is a good option. I think the call preflop to the minireraise is good bcuz we got implied odds.On the flop i surely push too.

Hi all,

The call of the 3bet preflop is indeed very marginal. I don't mind it though because we have position, and sometimes we can win without hitting our set. So as played looks good.

Hey all!

So in my opinion I don't really like the raise. Here is my train of thought!

Considering this is a DoN and set mining in DoN's isn't quite as profitable as it is in normal sngs for the simple reason that players play much tighter so you get less limper's and instead more raisers. Anyway I would defiantly limp this but I don't like the raise because since you are in early position and since you do only have a moderate chip stack it is very likely that if so one decides to play he will raise you. Which is exactly what happened....

Anyway I am sure we both know calling the raise was incorrect because he is defiantly showing strength and even if you have the best hand preflop you are putting yourself in a tough spot post flop.... And its just to early in the DoN to do that.

But who knows I may be a :f_biggrin:

Nah this is a SNG, raising is definitely fine. With these blinds I tend to take a raise or fold line preflop both in DoN and SNG.
