This for sure, some of the pros they have are simply terrible, I guess that is why they play NL100 and below. I mean I could probably move up 2 or 3 levels and play fine with $35/hr and 100% rakeback. Rakeback alone is about 8bb/100 in the lower stakes.

today i started playing rush NL400 and NL200 for a while, lost some, earned 100 in the end and felt really bored with FTP. So I switched to Stars and started 16+ tables of NL400 50bb/100bb tables. Was up 2k at some point in time after running quite well at the short tables. I think I'm playing a little too loosely from OOP as well as on BU. Some of those SSS players shove 20bb to steal 2bb with crap like AXs vs a 20% range

I will try to refine my 50bb strategy. More importantly I think I shouldn't mix tables. Maybe play 100bb in morning and switch to 50bb when games dry up in afternoon. Lastly I need to table select more, get out of tables with 0 fishes and >3 SSSers. They're really such a pain in the ass. We fling money up and down, and Stars profit from it.

In today's session there were 2 mega aggrotards. First is Andrewboccia. He's up 300k at PTR and plays a 29/27/16 style. He even shoved 66 in a 170bb spot and I lost with my AA. I got involved in so many preflop spots vs him, mostly with my small pocketpairs when I cold4bet/call w 88 (vs TT) or 4betjam w 55 (vs AQ). He also spazzed out at one point - He raises w A8s, I 3bet with AK, someone cold4bets, he jams, I snapcall and the cold4better folds.

Second aggrotard is garompon. Slightly looser stats with similar 3betting range. He's down 300k lifetime at PTR. Quite frustrating to play vs these players but overall I think I played alright and held my own against them. I used to play overly imbalanced and face constant 5bet jams but my frequencies are better now

i played quite spewy today at rush. Players took weird lines (like donking a set on a low board without much history) so I raise fire fire when the flush hits (his sizing told me he didn't have a flush so I went to rep it)

and at the later part of my session at stars, andrewboccia ran super hot. His 3betting range was wider than a typical HU range so I was defending and 4betting very loosely. And whenever I got into a spot vs him he has a strong hand. I also took many suboptimal lines and I think I could have saved much more money.

There was a hand where he 3bets me with KK, I flat with A4s. Board is 552s69s 200bb deep. He bets I call, he bets turn I minreraise and jam the river. He says "meh" and called within 3 seconds. He obviously knows that I was getting very annoyed at his BS and I was raging in chat a lot so maybe he assumed I was on tilt. Initially I thought it was a very bad decision on his part because players rarely minraise turn jam river as a pure bluff. But looking at the game dynamics I think his call was reasonable, especially when he saw me jam small pairs a couple of times preflop (which indicated my annoyance with his constant 3betting).

The Last hand was a complete joke. He 3bets me with K9, I call OOP w KQ and flop the straight on a rainbow board. I c/c, minCR on a AJT8 board and the river brings a Q. after this hand I got very annoyed and both fishes at the last 2 stars tables left anyway so I quit.

-Ran decent, ran bad, ran well, ran bad, ran well...
-misclick at NL1000 and lost 500
-ran like shit (making those high variance plays like backraising 88)
-lost 3k+
-Played at NL2000 table with 2 fish. So fucking scared because takechip was there (+1 million) but I had position on him
-Got owned on other tables, made some sneaky plays on takechip and took 600-700 from him. Hit and run after fish left
-Whine on blog

The "get stuck, move up" mentality is potentially bankroll-wrecking. I'm just glad i didn't go busto. I have <$10000 in my stars account now since I took out more than half previously.

I'll be sure to properly review the session vs AndrewBoccia. The games were so insane and of course he had the slight upper hand (luck not as insane as yesterday). My range is also quite wide against him but I think its significantly stronger than his so by right I should be owning him hard since he is super imbalanced.

1) I know takechip was going to float/bluffraise if I cbet. He knows I'm probably scared money since he never saw me play NL2k before. When I check he's going to bet 100% of his range so I went for the minicheckraise which will effectively shut down all his bluffs which is probably 70% or more of his range there. Showed him the bluff just for fun (I'm never going back haahha)

I think I could have saved myself a lot of money. I was mainly playing the soft tables and many 20-50bb tables where I was certain I had an edge.

1) Super weird spot. Anyway I still think my c/r on the turn was good, given how unlikely it was for him to be strong. We didn't have any overbetting history since roostt doesnt play so often at midstakes. And if he picked up 44 on the turn I'm pretty sure he's betting smaller. If I took the time to think through my decision I think I would c/f the river since a set isn't vbetting there and 6X + FDs all hit. I also forgot that he puts me on top set or some other shit and he's willing to draw for such a high price (maybe it isn't all that much)

2) Well played by villain and bad call by me. I called hoping to catch a busted lone Kh but if I actually considered the preflop situation properly, he's rarely coming in with KQo/KJo so he rarely has a busted draw. I guess the pairing made me more inclined to call, I also couldn't really put him on a set

1) First time playing wobbly_au in a long time. I just joined the FR table and he retardedly calls me down with A7s. I think it's very possible for me to play KQ/AK this way and I think his call was just plain bad, who knows? I'm always not getting such value when I have a monster from such crap holdings but whenever I make a giant bluff I see these hero calls.

Now I shall begin the AndrewBoccia review. He is insanely tough to play but I think if I do some reflection and make the proper adjustments, I can crush him really hard given how weak his ranges are.

Tendencies
1) He folds about 85% to my 3bets, regardless of my sizing ($8 -> $24/32/36)
2) He loves to flat 4bets IP and float. Range is usually depolarised, consisting of big pairs and broadways. Haven't seen him jam super light, usually with hands like TT, sometimes small pairs
3) He likes to make 1/3 pot cbets after 3betting, regardless of whether he's OOP or IP. Saw me starting to raise them a lot so he starts weakbet/min3betting
4) 4bets super rarely, haven't really seen him 4bet light. I think he prefers to flat AA-QQ
5) 2 barrels a lot in 3bet pots
6) Squeeze/call with AQ/TT
7) 3betting range is super depolarised with lots of crap

History
1) Knows that I love 4bet jamming small pp against his constant 3bets (sometimes I coldjam as well)
2) Knows I'm usually somewhat tilted when I bitch in chat
3) Plays very in line in single raised pots, but 75% of pots vs him is 3bet pots.
4) Jammed AQ on KJXr in 4bet pot before after I 1/3 cbet, after that he keeps floating

Counters
1) 4betjam 22-JJ, AQ/AJ/AXs OOP
2) Flat suited broadways OOP, sometimes AXs too. I can call 2 barrels with A/K high because he has so many JX/QX/TX/9X crap and he also barrels smallish
3) Bluff more frequently when I have position because he never flats OOP vs 4bets with crap. I usually flat with my AXs/56s though and end up getting barreled off.

I played quite well. My redline is insanely high today but not because of my bluffs. I valuebet hard with my monsters in deep pots and my opponents folded a lot on the river

I wonder if there is any value in leaving ur computer on all day on the poker client, like how HU pro bumhunters keep their deep stacks. Not sure if this might leave u more vulnerable to hackers. It's also a waste of electricity to keep the com on when u are asleep. But really, deep stacks in NL400 FR = +++EV

1) Wtf luckbox. I know he's never stacking off pre without AA so I flat

2) Vs Somyung Sim. Very bad play by him IMO. I found this very effective and kept doing this a lot after watching the Giggy video. I also mixed this guy up with Eunjong Byun who is a better player and would probably fold. I suspect the pairing of the 8 made him call but really I rarely have worse when I play in this way (AQ is at the bottom of my range)

3) This was a pretty suicidal move. I think I should have just mined for my pair (30% pot odds for 20% equity) since I will probably get paid off by this guy. I made many assumptions: he always has a straight/twopair here (since NL200 players dont know how to raise turn with combo draw I think), also assumed he would fold to a flush hitting on the river since I could be flatting there with nut flush draw. The assumptions may not always be true so I don't like this play all that much.

i think this video of his is the best so far (better than the free ones from pokernews). Those in red are things I am starting to think about

Quick summary:

1) We open 55 on AJ3s4 from UTG vs UTG+1. The main aim of a 2nd barrel is to fold out 2nd pair type hands. Even with the gutshot, we shouldn't barrel here because his UTG+1 range has much fewer JX compared to AX.

Yeah I probably won't barrel in this spot too but I think he brought up the importance of thinking about his turn folding range

2) We flat 33 BB vs BU. Pretty standard.

So I'm thinking people always argue that 3-betting > calling in this spot. For me I usually just 3-bet anyway since it's much easier to play. But in recent times, I started 3betting only against people that I'm willing to 5bet small pp with. Against people who don't 4bet too light, I just fold. Now that I think about it, I need to call so that I can rep more sets (I doubt anyone at midstakes will know that I'm folding small pp though). I also c/r quite a bit but don't really like those 2 outer bluffs.

We proceed to check/call on a Q62r board. We can expect him to cbet here with 100% of his BU range. Even if he doesn't cbet here 100%, he probably checks behind with showdown value hands so his cbet range here becomes even weaker.

The thought "WTF?" goes through my head. I usually c/f pocketpairs if there are 2 or 3 overcards. Also against a good opponent, he can pick up so many draws to barrel with. Don't really like playing passively with low pairs. Our equity is 50% vs a 50% BU range and our pot odds is about 27-30% vs a smallish cbet. The average opponent will barrel about 40% on the turn. So overall actually calling is a decent play. I shall make such calls in the future on dry boards when opponent has a super wide preflop range (mainly vs BU)

3) Flats Q6s in BvB

I guess I 3bet this all day and I rarely flat. I should probably flat more with such hands, potodds are actually very good (33%) and we don't have to fear getting squeezed out of the hand.

4) BU vs CO flop call with 22 on K84r

Similar to spot 2. Just that CO's range is tighter than BU range previously but we have position now. Stoving 22 vs a 25% CO range, we have 40% equity. Pot odds = 20/20+20+32=27.8%. We won't get barreled all that often and we might spike our 2 outer so overall in a vacuum I think it's a profitable call.

5) We spike trips and donk big after c/c twice against a fish's weak cbet and barrel. This is because he would often checkbehind a weakish king. I usually try to c/r though. I guess donking is better because the c/r looks too strong and he would probably fold after betting small, resulting in less value.

6) We c/r with 99 on J94rJ and check the turn.

I usually automatically bet the turn but this makes a lot of sense. Overpairs get scared, straight draws will fold because they no longer draw to the nuts. Jacks will bet for value anyway (unless the kicker is weak and they are cautious). Betting also makes us look super strong because the pairing of the board is technically a bad card to bluff on.

7) 4way action, we flat with 58s. A69s, CO bets into us when blind + MP checks. We have a combo draw. Do we raise or fold?

Agree that we should call instead of raising. CO showed significant strength, betting into 3 people and if we get stacks in on the flop, we get screwed by nutflush draws and sets. We also have position so it's really easy to play.

We hit the straight flush on the turn and CO bets into us. Should we raise or call?

Even though we have the nuts, we shouldn't slowplay because CO is very strong himself and a 4th spade will hit about 15% of the time on the river which will cause us to lose some value. min-Raising is better because boats will call to boat-mine while flushes will just ship. We do not expect him have hands weaker than that (maybe except the occasional twopairs).

Overall, the video gave me a lot of food for thought. Best video in a very very long time, even better than those Giggy/Samo videos that I love so much. Also made me realise how far I have to go before I can even come close to nanonoko so I shall continue working hard for the rest of the year and the coming year. Pros really do think on a different level...

Here is my weekend update for the donkament. I thought I played pretty badly in many spots but my luck was on the worse side on the whole. I did win some flips and spike some stuff though.

Saturday
Basically I left Singapore at about 1000 on Saturday, reached Batam Island (Indonesia) at 1030, and reached the cruise at 1115. It was a little shabby looking (since it was built in the 1960s) but it was alright given the price to get on board ($42). My friend and I went to explore the place. Free buffet lunch and dinner was provided. Drinks at the top floor (poker room) were also free.

Anyway the tourney started at about 1300 and buyin was $360+40. Starting blind level was 25/50 and each player was given 6000 chips. The event organisers actually expected 100+ people to show up but only 40+ players participated (60 buyins), probably due to the high buy-in as compared to the previous event. They eventually decided to allow re-buys.

So I played at my first table and there was a black guy sitting on my right. Boy was he horrible. He was limp/calling a lot and was being a true calling station. There was a hand at the first level where he overplayed AJ and won a huge pot. The other aggrotard had KQ on a JT8rT8 and he c/r, bet, shoved. Black guy sighs, "Meh, I think I'm beat but I have to call." In a cash game, I might call if there was also a busted flush draw because villain doesn't rep shit here and a straight would probably not play so aggressive on the river. Black guy also did a lot of stupid limp/fold when he had like 7-8 BB

I was moved around a few times, got really short and shoved Q7s with M factor of 6 and got busted by the chip leader (he had a thick beard so let's call him Beard Guy) with his 88. Beard Guy was running really hot for the past few hands and was busting everyone left and right. My plan was to ship the entire event so I decided to rebuy. I made some mistakes like open-jamming KQs from CO with M factor 10 and was called by JJ. Luckily I spiked a Q. After that I was moved to another table and managed to build up my stack to 20k chips.

Soon after I was involved in the sickest hand of the day. Shortstack with 8k chips raise to 1.8k, I isoraise to 5k (bad move, should have minraised) with AK, shortstack behind me shoves for 2.9k, big stack shove 15k and first player folded. Action is back to me and I should have folded but I stupidly convinced myself to make the call. They had KK and AA and I was completely fucked with 5% equity but 4 diamonds came and I spiked the nut flush. Everyone was like OMG, bigstack with AA was like :f_cry: and I was like _biggrin:. I became the chip leader with 50k and didn't really pick up any spots to build my chip stack after that.

At this point in time, only 20/60 players were left so they merged the tables. The 2nd chip leader, a cap-wearing man was on my left so I was greatly restrained (I think he's Filipino so let's call him Pinoy man). I tried to make some moves on him but he picked up hands both times so I lost about 15k of chips. 8 places were paid and people were getting eliminated very quickly. In the end, 4 players were left at my table and 5 at the other table.

Pinoy Guy and Beard Guy were at my table along with another lucky donk who should have busted (He shoved 66 on AAX flop vs A3 and spiked on the river). Pinoy guy and donk were just playing ultra-tight, trying to get in the money while Beard Guy (VPIP 30%) and I (VPIP 40%) were open-shoving very wide. At the other table, they were seeing tons of flops because Black Guy kept playing postflop and none of them knew how to play proper tourney style. Because it was hand for hand, our hands always ended within 1 min and we all went over to the other table to watch the action.

Eventually I picked up K8o in SB and jammed as usual, Pinoy Guy woke up with QQ and busted me. I got really pissed at being the bubble boy since I think I exploited the bubble really well against their 5% calling ranges.

Saturday night - Sunday Morning Cashgames

So I'm down 800 after about 7h+ of play and I'm feeling really shitty. Cash games were running so I took a seat and played from 2100 to 0500. My luck wasn't really any better because I almost lost all the money in my wallet ($2000). Game was $1/2, Max buyin $400, rake 5% with $40 cap.

I was slowly bleeding away because I just wasn't picking up any hands at all. Suddenly, some guy (let's name him LuckBox because that's how he ran) sat down. He didn't look drunk to me but his style was completely drunken. The player on his left was a pretty good player, he had been playing since 1800 and never left his seat (He was wearing a Blizzard Zerg shirt so let's call him Zerg). So I open raise from UTG to $8 with AQ, Luckbox calls from BU, Zerg squeezes to $30+. I knew Zerg was somewhat deep against me and he couldn't stand a 4bet from UTG unless he had AA (even KK would be fucking scared) so I did it. Luckbox calls and Zerg folds. Flop came 332, I open jam because it was a potsize bet left and I was hoping he didn't have a pair. Luckbox snaps, I was like _cry:. Then he flips over AJ and I was _o: . Obviously the turn brought a Jack and I lost $200 with 90% equity.

Now Luckbox has $400 but I was determined to get my money back so I rebought to max. Luckbox limps with QX, 1 or 2 other limpers came along and I isolate to $20 with 99, only Luckbox calls. Flop came Q93 monotone. I bet, he calls. Turn brought a 2nd Queen, i bet, he insta-shoved and I fist-pump snapped called _biggrin:, knowing he probably had QX. River brought another 3 (84% equity) and I lost another $400. He left to play an SnG soon after and he busted early so he donked about $700+ of my money at Bacarrat.

A few hands later, I got involved with a guy on my right (he's in his 50s and was really aggro so let's call him Aggro Uncle). Aggro Uncle had the propensity to barrel, I even saw him c/c c/c donkshove with a busted combodraw. Previously I call F minraise T and shove R with a busted gutshot, then I showed him the bluff. Being the prideful aggrotard he is, he wanted to play back at me. So I picked up AKs, 5 limpers in front of me and I isoraise to $22 from BB. Aggro Uncle in SB just jams about $120 and I snapcall to see 59s. Flop brought 55X with a diamond flush draw for me but I miss.

These 3 hands were tilt-inducing to the max and any normal person would be raging and mass tilting like crazy. Even the average NL100 grinder will get crushed by this IMO (because this is live and not online). I'm glad I handled it like a TwiceT and remained level-headed. After that I was down another $800 so I bought in for my last $400, determined to make a comeback (typical gambling addict mindset hahaha). I kept bleeding money until I was down to $100. My friend took out 95$ of chips from his pockets and lent it to me.

Once again, there were mass limpers in front of me and I complete the SB with Q8o. Flop comes out Q83r, someone bets out $20, another person calls, Aggro Uncle reraises to $70 and I call while the rest folds. The turn is insignificant but I decided to donk $20 and Aggro Uncle snap shoves :f_p:. I knew he was crushed so I was _grin: and fistpump call to see his 83o. This doubled me up to $400+.

After that, Luckbox limps, someone isoraises to $12 and I call from BB with 76s, Luckbox calls as well. Flop comes out T66s. Luckbox bets $20, other guy folds and I raise to 70$. He reraised to $140 and I thought he was allin already so I called and flipped open my cards. Turns out he had another 80+ behind so when he said call I knew I was fucked. He shows T6o, I did spike a 7 on the turn but lost $300 to him.

I did pick up some nice hands and managed to win some money back. I had AXs on 367s board, some guy raised and I shoved about $280. He said, "I know I'm beat but I call to gamble." I was _o: and deep down hoping he would fold. He shows 55 but I spike the flush so it's fine.

Luckbox returned from his donking with only $100+ but he did manage to build up his chip stack with some flipping and bluffs (no showdown but I suspect from his frequency and timing). We both have $400 in a 3 way pot, I call an isoraise from BB with KQo. Board comes out Q98s, Luckbox bets, other players fold and I call. Turn brings a King and I check/call again vs a snapbet. At this time I wasn't very sure if the snap betting was monster or not so I chose not to raise. In retrospect I should have shoved the turn. River brought a Jack and he snap shoves. So I spent 4min+ thinking and Zerg calls the clock (what a jerk), saying that the game was already super slow due to the inexperienced dealers. Decided to call and saw 67s for the busted SFD. There were too many busted draws so calling seems pretty good but I'm not too sure how often he would play so aggressively with his gutshots and normal flushdraws/OESDs.

At 0500, I was feeling tired so I left and the game broke when 4 people were left. The game manager was being a jerk, he stopped it because shorthanded play only raked 2.5%.

Sunday

Nothing too interesting. I woke up at 1000 after 5 h of sleep, ate the buffet brunch and got a foot massage. I went to watch a bit of the final table. Pinoy Guy won and Black Guy got second. I felt they were not deserving (maybe Pinoy Guy was still decent but Black Guy was so horrible).

I had some fun at the Blackjack table. I was reading some Sklansky Blackjack books previously, memorising Basic Strategy (but I can't remember about 10% of it, which is mainly the marginal spots) so I decided to put the knowledge to use. I changed $100, ran it up to $700 and quit when the dealer was changed and my luck was crappy for the next 3-4 hands. Quite a few people were placing their bets with me because I was running hot. I never actually played at a casino before so I was not aware of what to do initially. When it was my turn, I said "Stand" instead of tapping the table or waiving my hand so everyone was like "wtf?"

I tried the Progressive Texas Hold'em after that and I think it's a stupid game. Basically you are forced to place an Ante every game and you will be dealt your hole cards. If you want to see the flop, you place a AnteX2 Flop bet. Then you can choose to bet AnteX1 before the Turn and AnteX1 before the River. What this means is that you can valuebet when you are ahead. However, when you win, you will only win the money for the Flop/Turn/River bets and not the Ante bet but if you lose the hand, your Ante bet is gone as well. I played a few hands, took the 1700 ferry back to Singapore and ended my weekend trip.

So overall do you think it is profitable to be playing on trips like these? Was it worth your time?

@TLN: hehe I don't know. Do you think I should play fewer tables on euro sites? I remember ongame and micro pissed me off with shitty software. but the rakeback u guys get (70%?) is not that far off from my supernova (35%) and profit is way higher. Fish is so scarce on Stars/FullTilt

@summermonkey: In terms of money it's a complete waste of time. To be honest I don't like live games that much, only NL1000 would be worth my time if not Rush poker earns me way more. Rake is also insanely high at $40 cap and the pace of the game is tilt-inducing.

But remember, my aim wasn't to make money but to buff my poker resume. If I ever want to dream of getting sponsored by FTP and get 100% rakeback some day, I need to win a few events and prove myself so I need to play more tourneys. This would result in an instant +10k/month for my online cash games.

For some reason the BBCode doesn't display correctly in my signature. Please help me, anyone?

And I decided to make my own coaching thread, I think I just met the requirements since you have to produce at least 3 videos or coached 10 hrs or handjudge for 2 months. My third video will be out next week and I'm still busy uploading the Rush Video ;( . It's already 1 am and I was uploading it since 4pm.
