It's kind of illegal but we don't have any taxes and they can't do anything about us playing :)

we don pay tax for gambling winnings :)

so no tax for poker wins

Americans do, and they need to pay taxes for their lotto win as well

i'm pretty sure you dont pay taxes on poker winnings in australia, since the tournament organisers already pay the tax on the admin fee...

Hey guys :) Been looking around these forums a bit more and just found this thread!

I was born in the NT but moved to brisbane when I was 6. Lived there basically my whole life until a couple of years ago when I moved to Sydney and have been here since then. Been playing poker for about 5-6 years, primarily PLO now.

and to anyone talking about moving to .au, it's a great place as a professional poker player, the busiest times on the major sites is about 9am-12pm here, so you can maintain a '9 to 5' work schedule and play at the best times ;) plus as said above, winnings are tax free ;)
