AQ is a strong hand but difficult to play oop. For this reason, I tend to fold with this hand when I'm UTG (w/ 9 players) or tend to just check if I'm the BB. I might be too tight here but I think it will be easier to fold if we don't hit and will also be easier to get some extra value from weak aces if an ace comes on the flop.

preflop is standard...

And I really have no clue why we would not cbet here??

I usualy don't cbet this board in position, no-one ever appears to fold :f_cry:

i make it slightly smaller pre from teh BTN because we guarantee position.

as played cbet for value! if you get floated by worse Ax and Kx then its a clear flop value-bet. you can check down and win unimproved very often on turn/river.

as played fold the turn. not getting odds

we are drawing to overcards and a gutshot on the turn....but its true that we dont know if our outs are clear....

it is also possible that he is bluffing...

I dont like to fold turn....is it bad?

I agree with arinho, and it doesn't make sense if you want to c-bet the flop for value and then fold the turn when an 8 comes... We have the best hand often enough combined with our overcard outs to call with such good odds imo

as played, means i would fold the turn without cbetting. because you give up the hand on the flop so on the turn, if you check flop, you can only call for your outs unless you think unknowns are capable of stabbing worse A high in this spot, then its ok to float turn and fold river unimproved.

when you cbet the hand changes completely.

you just have to realise that the mistake was made on the flop, whether you call the turn or not as played is a minor aspect to the hand.

I like the call on the turn, and may call on the river. I think it is hard for someone to limp/call and then hit such a low board, and sometimes the river will be a blocking bet with a weaker ace, and sometimes it will be a bluff with Q6s.

I would bet the flop for value/protection, expecting to get called by many weaker aces while getting hands like KJ to fold. People always call with Ax when there are 3 unpaired wheel cards on the flop.

Whether you c-bet or not doesn't change the respective hand strengths though. If your hand is strong enough to c-bet flop for value, then we often still have the best hand on the turn. When he bets 90 I don't see that as stength, and he could randomly be trying to take it down with some missed overcards because you checked back flop. I'm not disagreeing with your opinion on the flop play, but if we do check behind we have to call the turn at least.

cbetting absolutely changes your read on hand strength.

if you cbet and he leads turn after calling flop his range is going to be completely different to if you checked behind flop and he leads turn. see what im saying?

regardless. turn decision will not make a huge difference either way. you have to fold turn to any bigger bet and you snap call anything smaller.

ohhh i see what ur saying now goldchess.

yes you are correct. after checking back flop we under-rep our hand so we can call turn more often. but playing the hand to induce with AQ high is not recommended without some kind of reads. most unknowns are too passive to play that line.

Hi all,

IMO: Call turn call river OR continuation bet the flop. I like call turn call river tbh as we have a gutshot on the flop and I hate to be c/r off my hand with so many outs even if we're behind.
