This guy plays a bit weirdly imo. He's a winning reg who plays 16/12 (1.5k hands) 7-9 handed. His overall 3-bet% for a full table is 5.8%.

I call his 3bet because I don't think shoving gets value from worse, even though I'm not quite sure what his 3-betting range is. In my experience most decent regs seem to not have a 3-betting range at all in his spot. I think I'd flat every pair in my opening range here (99+).

Flop hits us both pretty well. I like checking because it lets him bluff if he thinks I have QQ- and missed (I'd give him credit for hitting his board very often) or lets him catch up in case he got fancy and reraised preflop with a weaker hand to spicy things up (not sure if that ever happens though).

I'm not sure about the turn, decided to check but he checks back once again so I bet river and he shoves. By the river my preflop range has hit a bunch of boats, so I don't think he's bluffing or overplaying hands with medium showdown equity much. Question is how many worse hands he shoves for value. I need ~40% equity to call river which seems like a lot given the way the hand was played.

I felt so sick playing this hand. Thoughts?

sick.

Only 3 combos beat you. (If AT-A9 are in this range that is super sick).

You beat 99-TT, if that is in his range.
You beat JJ, that maybe shoved to get you out of exactly QQ.

If you can give him any of those bluffs, it's a call.

Please tell us what he had later...

His high 3bet% might be explained by the resteals... in a 27$ sng you reach the higher blinds 7-9 handed, and those involve more steals and resteals. I kinda agree with your thinking about the preflop, he's gonna fold everything worse if you shove. Maybe he's trying to mess with your head by min3betting junk? (That might actualy be profitable considering most regs will fold the bigger part of theyr OR range).

I think I'd bet the turn.

The river is sick... AA and AK are the only hands I see in his range? Do you think he can bluff here?

Sick hand!

I suspect that if he had KK or AA he would just flat called your raise but would 3bet with worse hands such as AK, or QQ and JJ. Anyway, you already have two K's and there are two A on the board, so it is less likely that villain is holding KK or AA.

Knowing that he shoved on the river on such a dangerous board, it doesn't make much sense to put him on QQ or JJ.

The way he played seemed like he was trapping with AK. The only worse hand that I can see him shoving is TT (but not sure if this would be in his range).

Fold river. You beat absolutely nothing in his range. (He would not turn QQ or TT into bluff on river)

_mad: feels like a crying fold here on the river. sick

I couldn't fold, used most of time bank, put him on 53o :] and called. Gonna tell what he had later.

4bet pre.

as played lead turn.

as played bet/SNAP CALL river.

just value-town him, dont over-think it. he can easily have AQ/AJ/TT/99/AT

hes obviously a weird reg, so i would also expect a few complete air bluffs in his river range as well.

if you guys are folding here, then i definitely need to start bluff shoving rivers more often.

Agree with almost everything, <3.

Only thing I'm not sure about it's the 4bet. Sure, its +EV.

Isn't it better to keep AQ/AJ/JJ/TT/99 in his range?
On the other hand, we don't get much more value from those (if we get action we're probably beat).

?(

i wouldnt assume he would 3bet/fold especially from EP. so i 4bet pre until i get a read that flatting would be more +EV.

4bet small. to try induce him to spaz bluff 5bet ship.

I'd 4-bet KK and probably AK since it has blockers, but call QQ/JJ. If opponent was maniac I'd adjust with either more calling or more 4-betting, depending what kind of maniac he is.

You have to pay 90 to 390 pot. He will c-bet most of time so pot goes to 600-700 already, so I think you can setmine. After all you will flop set 2 times out of 15.
